In this Acrylic Portrait painting I am focusing on blending and shading technique with acrylic color on paper. Blending is usually difficult with acrylics. But in this video I have elaborated my techniques of doing blending and shading using acrylic with water as the only medium. No retarder is used for this painting process.
I have started this painting with Burnt Umber and Cadmium Yellow Lemon for the initial layer. Then proceeding with multiple layers of paint slowly adding one by one. Acrylic paint usually dries very fast. To overcome this challenge I am using fine mist of water to keep the paint moist longer. I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

I tried painting a portrait the other day lmaooo, I think I wasted so much paint just trying to mix up the skin tones hahaha
Thanks for your comment, and nice to know that you tried 😊 Try few more, it will work 👍🎨🖌️ Have a nice day 😊
Don't worry I also wasted a lot of oil paint, then acrylic but in my last try I think I got the skin tone right. Red, yellow and white worked for me with little bit blue (just a tiny bit) for darker shades.
I totally feel you here!
look at it like this. as long as you learned something, made something, or had fun, then it's not waste. even if your wallet says otherwise
Girlll mine was janky as hell. I didnt realize it was all orange and pink until I backed up and looked lol
I cant get over the accuracy of your brush stokes, your'e a true artist so talented. Thanks for showing skin tones although even with the tutorial I know it will be a lot harder than it looks to get the right colours let alone such brush work. brilliant can't get over it.
I am glad that you liked my art videos🙏 I hope you'll love to watch some of my recent works too, where I explained the color mixing in a more detailed manner. Have a nice day 😊🎨
Awesome!!! 👍
You are not only an artist; You are GREAT ARTIST! thanking you sir!... Bodhisattwa Gupta (KajalGupta 70+).
I was naturally good at drawing/painting when I was young, but I never nurtured it. Could have, would have, should have! The regrets of life...
Why not you can start now? Nothing is late to start. Go ahead 👍 Thank you 🙏
@@DebojyotiBoruahArt Thank you for the inspiration..👍
I quit my job and I'm putting all my eggs into one basket and that means selling art.
Thank you so much for watching 😊🙏

Some people say that if you put all your eggs in one basket it's gonna break...or always have a plan b... But I don't believe it, I think that focusing only in one think makes the best in it👏
@@maryd4651 to be specific I do live caricatures. It's going pretty well. Right now I'm looking to rent a spot at my local mini mall. I got a pretty good deal. I better jump in on it in time for spring break! I've made up to $300 a day at the beach⛱️ but that was before the pandemic. Like anything there's a good season and ok season. Thanks for the support!👋

I am really glad that you found my videos helpful 😊 Keep painting 👍 Have a nice day 🎨🖌️
Inspirational to watch, and very effective result. I'm just wondering, do you use the acrylic neat or do you add water to it, and do you wait for each layer to dry or blend them all while wet (I find doing the latter tends to just pull off the underlying layers!).
Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏
I just use plain water mist spray to keep my paint moist. Yes I do layering. Let the first layer a bit dry before applying the second one.
Superbe et très surprenant! qu'est-ce que j'aimerais arriver à ce résultat !!! Bravo !!
Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏 Have a great day 😊🎨🖌️

Very relaxing to watch.
Glad you liked it 😊 Thank you so much 🙏
You are amazing! I am in awe. I am so inspired to paint like you someday. I am new to acrylics and have been mostly sticking to tutorials but the other day I tried my first portrait… and it was amateur (and that’s me being nice hahaha). I’d love my paintings to look more realistic. That’s my goal! Do you think if I practice enough I could eventually get to this level or is it more of a “You just have to have natural talent” thing? I am so impressed, seriously.
Your practice will lead to your GOAL one day. You'll develop your style naturally over time. I think with practice will help you more than just having a natural talent. Just keep painting. All the best and believe in yourself 👍 You can definitely paint realistically one day.
I am also a self taught artist. I have learnt from trial and errors.
Thank you so much ☺️
Thank you very much, this video is really helpful, I didn't think we could get this kind of result with acrylics, thank you! ^^
Glad to know that you found my videos helpful 😊 Yes, you can do lots of things with Acrylic. It is a very versatile medium. Thank you so much. Have a nice day 🎨🖌️

Do you gesso your paper? It looked like cold pressed. I would love to go back to acrylics and oils but I have no room so I stay with charcoal, watercolor and graphite. My first acrylic was a portrait uh 35 years ago. Lovely painting.
No, I don't use gesso. It's a cold pressed 300 gsm watercolor paper. I simply love acrylics. But have a strong weakness for watercolor too. Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏 Have a nice day 😊🎨
Amazingly beautiful!
Thanks a lot for your comment 🙏😊
Love your work and explanations. Do you use water spray on the paints or on the paper?
Thank you so much for your appreciation and support 🙏 Yes. I use water spray a lot on my palette. The only medium I use for my acrylic painting.

How did u get that one particular brush you used for the eyelashes in that shape so that it gave you those effects?
It was a round brush once upon a time. After lots of abuse it becomes like this. And now it's my favorite to give some dedicated effects like this 😃 Thanks for your comment 🙏 Have a nice day 🎨🖌️
