I really hope this game blows up and gets a ton of new players, because this masterpiece needs to be seen by the whole world. Dotemu have become my TOP 1 devs in recent memory! SOR4, Windjammers 2 and I can't wait for TMNT Shredder's Revenge and I am sure that one will be fun as hell too. Thank you Dotemu for bringing good ol' arcade fun as we remember it.

it was so cool seeing some of the old Japanese programmers who worked on this game 30 years ago. I wasn't expecting that, but that was nice. it took them awhile to make this game but it looks like they're almost done.
Its great to see a title that was so under appreciated for so many years finally get the recognition it deserved and not only that, get a sequel made with the blessings and support from the original devs. The level of detail dotemu is putting into the game and maintaining the integrity of the original really shows. You guys should be very proud!

I love the gameplay and art style, but it really needs extra modes like the minigames being separate from the story mode, more minigames, a season mode and extra unlocks like new characters or new outfit colors. Hopefully, you guys will keep adding content to make it even better. It could easily be a 10/10 game for me.
It's obvious just how much effort and care went into this game. I loved the demo and open beta that came out on Steam, and it looks like the final version is going to be more than worth the wait!
Iusually meet up with two friends to play old games with emulators. In our weekly get-togethers, recently we play the new SoR4... but yesterday we discovered Windjammers2. We played it for 8 uninterrupted hours like crazy kids. The work done on these titles is almost perfect. Not only does it manage to replicate the gameplay of classic games while maintaining their essence, but you have also managed to incorporate new features to create a truly better new title than the previous one. What a great doc! I loved the original devs looking at the new game, talking about their work and how pong was an inspiration for it! Never really put 1 and 1 together, but Windjammers does feel like a drastic evolution of pong. Can't thank Dotemu enough for putting so much work into this game, it looks truly magical!
I’m a HUGE Windjammers fan and was super skeptical of a sequel… finally got my hands on Windjammers 2 and my Lord, it’s incredible, your team knocked it out of the park! I got my friends into it and now it’s all we play. Well done DotEmu and thank you!

Retrouver les créateurs d'origine, quel bonheur, quelle expérience magique ca a du être. Non mais la documentation qu'ils ont gardé et ce boulot qu'ils avaient fait en amont, c'est dingue, on comprend pourquoi les Japonais ont tant écrasé la concurrence pendant plusieurs décennies. Puis votre plongée dans le code d'origine pour coller à la perfection, ce travail de fourmi... C'est limite de l'archéologie, ça doit être jouissif... Et la petite touche finale avec l'apport des meilleurs joueurs de l'opus d'origine. Votre souci du detail a été dingue, votre passion complétement transpirante. Je suis encore plus heureux d'avoir pris le gros collector de Pix'n Love, je sais que je ne me suis définitivement pas trompé. J'espère que vous rencontrerez le succès que vous méritez ! I see a team of people, a group that really wants to make great games and appreciates the old games and the previous developers. THIS is so rare today. I'm happy you guys exist!! Stick to the formula you've been using and you'll achieve many things. PS - I've been buying ALL your games 😁PS 2 - If I was a millionaire I'd hire you guys to make new Sonic games 😋
Hearing the old timer devs talk about the limitations and time constraints they had to endure and features they couldn't add, exemplifies the meaning of "art from adversity". This -supposedly- quick throaway arcade game became a neogeo staple and a classic, it grew beyond anyone's vision in the 90s
This game is so tight. Played it at Genesis (the smash bros tourney in CA), wish more tourneys would notice it. Everyone that sat down to try it was hooked!
I'm one of those people that never played the 1st one, and I must say, this is an awesome game. I was not aware of this game until 2 days ago, and since i always liked these types of couch-vs games, it was a very good surprise to see this being released and play this good. The graphic art is beautiful, and you guys did an awesome job with the netcode and the crossplay feature so I bought 2 copies of this game on Steam today, one for me and one for one of my buddies. One thing tho, is it possible to add a Training stage or something along the lines so we can practice the setups. I ask because it's really hard for some people like myself to just jump online after reading the "How to play" section but not being able to move your character at all to get the "feeling of learning" the moves. I've been jamming since the morning and only took a break just to check this making of, but still, it will be greatly appreciated it this is added in the future along with of course, more characters as DLC. Btw, I love the hidden character, good job guys.
It would be neat if he was an NPC next to the court somewhere. From what I've seen there seems to be an Austin Creed NPC next to the wrestling-ring kind of court in the top left corner.

This documentary was so great! It's somehow fun and emotional also. The part with the original developers was fantastic. I love DotEmus work so much but Windjammers 2 is your best shot. I hope someday you will go back to make a better netcode for WJ2. Please don't let it die and never stop making new sequels for this fantastic series. I bought it for two systems (PC, Switch) on the first day because this is one of the best games on Earth. I definitely believe in this. :D :D

it's just like said in this video! i'm playing windjammers 1 since many years and when i tried wj2 ps4 beta this summer i felt the same way i feel when i play wj 1! i also won more then 30 matches in a row online because of my past experience, even if i have to learn new mechanics.... i can't wait anymore for january 20th!!

je viens juste d"acheter le jeu .... au debut je me disais " les jeux d'arcade , les jeux neo-geo c'est plus mon truc" du coup j'hesitais a l'acheter... quel tuerie ce jeu ! impossible de lacher la mannette ! un gameplay furieux et intuitif ! des decors simple et beaux avec une ambiance festive (en plein mois de janvier ça fait du bien au moral) incontournable !

Pretty amped that Windjammers 2 is released, and the extra time taken to put in rollback netcode. Like the devs, I sunk so many quarters into the first game. As Windjammers, they really nailed the gameplay and I love the moves added! As a fighting game in 2022, very disappointed that it’s lacking modern features that would give a niche fighting game the legs needed to build a community. Mostly online lobbies/spectate/replay. This isn’t 1994, and arcades are gone. People gathering together to play and watch each other is done online. Also, the fact it’s crossplay but no solution to invite specific people from another platform, that just fragments the community. Releasing a literal E Sport in 2022, without the tools for an E Sport, is really dropping the disc. These things really should have been prioritized first over 3 difficulties of Arcade Mode, Arcade mini games, or even more characters. Characters could be added in DLC if the game caught on. Unfortunately with the numbers I’ve seen, I doubt it’s gonna make the revenue to get any further development, and become the same niche game with the same 50 player community WJ1 has. 😔

Je ne vais pas résister en tant que joueur sur borne à l époque du 1er opus et après un passage sur la bêta du 2 a le prendre aussi. A plus la flying power team ;). Pourvu que le netcode = rollback ^^.
Vous êtes une équipe de beaux et belles gosses. C'est audacieux de refaire le jeu comme à l'époque, avec votre moteur maison. C'est prometteur pour l'avenir, j'espère que vous resterez sur des projets de cette nature. La cible à atteindre après, c'est M2, vraiment. Ce sont des dieux de l'émulation, et ils ont réalisé GG Aleste 3 sur Game Gear tout récemment (développé pour la console d'époque...).
Probablement un titre qui va cartonner, à l'instar de SOR 4 ou Wonderboy et un must-have pour tout rétro-gamer qui se respecte ! J'espère qu'au niveau des serveurs ça va assurer !!! car plus que dans n'importe quel autre jeu, il ne faut pas de latence !!! Ce sera aussi plus "user-friendly" que d'utiliser un émulateur comme Fightcade 2 avec Windjammers 1. je me souviens aussi du plugin netplay 'Kaillera' (les connaisseurs sauront de quoi je parle !) et de parties où au final, la synchronisation se perdait en cours de route et on voyait notre adversaire en ligne jouer n'importe comment (lol). Bien évidemment, windjammers 2 est dans ma liste de souhaits Steam :)

I'm wondering how low level they went in terms of starting from scratch. Are we talking a pretty vanilla engine like MonoGame or a graphics library like SDL?
I was waiting this game since it was announced and I'm so happy about how much care it was put in developing it. I would have liked that even the referee would have been a playable character, hope that is at least a secret character or will become playable in future DLCs. Anyways, I'll buy the game at launch! 😀
Don't worry a lot of people bought the first remastered game on different platforms. I own the first on Nintendo Switch digital and now pre-ordered first again and second physically for Nintendo Switch. Also DotEmu is really getting a bigger and better name the last years by all the games you've released so far. WJ2 and TMNT will really put you permanently on the map next to the likes (if done right) of the great M2, PanicButton, Saber Interactive and probably even a stage higher. The appeal of your unique remastering style and process are what draws gamers in and combined with the sequels/new games of legendary IP's. This is only the beginning!

Franke Sisto needs to be a playable character!!! I believe he is part of the reason why this sequel even exists.

This documentary was so great! It's somehow fun and emotional also. The part with the original developers was fantastic. I love DotEmus work so much but Windjammers 2 is your best shot. I hope someday you will go back to make a better netcode for WJ2. Please don't let it die and never stop making new sequels for this fantastic series. I bought it for two systems (PC, Switch) on the first day because this is one of the best games on Earth. I definitely believe in this. :D :D

it's just like said in this video! i'm playing windjammers 1 since many years and when i tried wj2 ps4 beta this summer i felt the same way i feel when i play wj 1! i also won more then 30 matches in a row online because of my past experience, even if i have to learn new mechanics.... i can't wait anymore for january 20th!!

je viens juste d"acheter le jeu .... au debut je me disais " les jeux d'arcade , les jeux neo-geo c'est plus mon truc" du coup j'hesitais a l'acheter... quel tuerie ce jeu ! impossible de lacher la mannette ! un gameplay furieux et intuitif ! des decors simple et beaux avec une ambiance festive (en plein mois de janvier ça fait du bien au moral) incontournable !

Pretty amped that Windjammers 2 is released, and the extra time taken to put in rollback netcode. Like the devs, I sunk so many quarters into the first game.
As Windjammers, they really nailed the gameplay and I love the moves added!
As a fighting game in 2022, very disappointed that it’s lacking modern features that would give a niche fighting game the legs needed to build a community.
Mostly online lobbies/spectate/replay. This isn’t 1994, and arcades are gone. People gathering together to play and watch each other is done online.
Also, the fact it’s crossplay but no solution to invite specific people from another platform, that just fragments the community.
Releasing a literal E Sport in 2022, without the tools for an E Sport, is really dropping the disc.
These things really should have been prioritized first over 3 difficulties of Arcade Mode, Arcade mini games, or even more characters. Characters could be added in DLC if the game caught on.
Unfortunately with the numbers I’ve seen, I doubt it’s gonna make the revenue to get any further development, and become the same niche game with the same 50 player community WJ1 has. 😔
Make the remake of the Street Hoops neo geo. 👍

J en profite pour vous remercier pour le street of rage 4, pris day one et quel pied !! Je ne vais pas résister en tant que joueur sur borne à l époque du 1er opus et après un passage sur la bêta du 2 a le prendre aussi. A plus la flying power team ;). Pourvu que le netcode = rollback ^^.

Vous êtes une équipe de beaux et belles gosses. C'est audacieux de refaire le jeu comme à l'époque, avec votre moteur maison. C'est prometteur pour l'avenir, j'espère que vous resterez sur des projets de cette nature. La cible à atteindre après, c'est M2, vraiment. Ce sont des dieux de l'émulation, et ils ont réalisé GG Aleste 3 sur Game Gear tout récemment (développé pour la console d'époque...).

Probablement un titre qui va cartonner, à l'instar de SOR 4 ou Wonderboy et un must-have pour tout rétro-gamer qui se respecte ! J'espère qu'au niveau des serveurs ça va assurer !!! car plus que dans n'importe quel autre jeu, il ne faut pas de latence !!! Ce sera aussi plus "user-friendly" que d'utiliser un émulateur comme Fightcade 2 avec Windjammers 1. je me souviens aussi du plugin netplay 'Kaillera' (les connaisseurs sauront de quoi je parle !) et de parties où au final, la synchronisation se perdait en cours de route et on voyait notre adversaire en ligne jouer n'importe comment (lol). Bien évidemment, windjammers 2 est dans ma liste de souhaits Steam :)
Chapeau les gars pour ce travail incroyable de respect et de précision. Vous avez su conserver l'âme du jeu tout en le modernisant.

I'm wondering how low level they went in terms of starting from scratch. Are we talking a pretty vanilla engine like MonoGame or a graphics library like SDL?
I was waiting this game since it was announced and I'm so happy about how much care it was put in developing it.
I would have liked that even the referee would have been a playable character, hope that is at least a secret character or will become playable in future DLCs.

Don't worry a lot of people bought the first remastered game on different platforms.
I own the first on Nintendo Switch digital and now pre-ordered first again and second physically for Nintendo Switch.
Also DotEmu is really getting a bigger and better name the last years by all the games you've released so far.
WJ2 and TMNT will really put you permanently on the map next to the likes (if done right) of the great M2, PanicButton, Saber Interactive and probably even a stage higher. The appeal of your unique remastering style and process are what draws gamers in and combined with the sequels/new games of legendary IP's. This is only the beginning!
A version for the Neo Geo would be awesome!!
