It’s scary to me that almost as much time has passed since this came out in 1996 and today as had passed since the original Camaro released in 1967 and this SS in 1996.
I think the biggest shocker is the price tested is under 28k. Today something similar in style and performance, 50 to 60k. Meanwhile the wages for the American people have absolutely not changed enough to compensate for the horrible inflation. The years of owning something nice went from tangible to non existent. Merica
My 94 Z M6 went 13.8@100 in summer air. I had no track experience. My 60’ was bad. It would have gone 13.6 if I’d launched it. I was conservative because I’m used to street traction. It had a flow master muffler (only), hurst shifter (helped a lot) and hypertech program with 160* stat. Not much power from those mods. The hypertech felt about like adding 2*-3* of timing to an engine that you can adjust the distributor on. My 2c. I beat all cobras except termi and never ran one. Clearly I would have been smoked.
Came so close to buying a 96 SS Camaro...and then a 00 SS. Just couldnt get past the dash that you could sleep on and half the engine under the cowl. Like the looks of the LTx camaro better. Put better heads, a hotcam and headers on those cars were smog legal 12 sec runners all day
I think a 99 mustang weighs 3200lbs compared to the 4200 lb the Impala weighs. The camaro should be around 3400 but they were blowing the tires off that thing.

Don’t remind me!!! lol
Remember the Hugger Orange 30th anniversary edition? That was 30 years ago.
Bro, shup lol
Those Gloves on the guy shifting the Impala 😂😂
Absolutely dry raping the shifter! Always made me laugh! So not necessary
Just as cheesy as guys showing up in driving shoes for cars n coffee haha.

$28k in 1996 was the equivalent of paying $55k, based on inflation. It’s the same buying power based on wages and inflation.
agree...wages havent even come close to overpriced...everything.
Id never spend 40.50k plus on any car thats just insane.

Watched this many times! Just noticed the ss number plate did not have a number. Must be the first prototype?
First time I noticed that too. I owned 1231 many years ago.
Possibly, the #0001 was white and #0002 was red but automatic
Sorry Irene from Athens Vancouver British Columbia Canada & Greece. 😊

These numbers seem a little bit slow. A bone stock 1999 Mustang GT with 260 HP was running those exact numbers. Weight penalty?

Nice upload
540 version that was a hellcat before a hellcat should have mass produced it
Chevrolet Cobra\Camaro/Pontiac Fire-Birth?😊
0:57 This time it's Chevrolay😂
I used to troll these and those stupid Marauders with my GS400 when I was a kid all the time. So slow with 50 percent more displacement.
