As a Norwegian watching so many of these kinds of videos of American cops, I really don't get why voters are not holding cops accountable. Laws should be in place to protect citizens against that kind of harassment and abuse of power. You got to big grownups which you know are in a far more powerful position that a regular citizen who are intimidating a minor over the most trivial issue imaginable. This is gives too much police state vibes. Honestly it is what made me leave the US 20 years ago. When I was a teenager the US was a dream country to me. I went over to study with intention of staying. I was not prepared for how unfree America felt. It isn't that stuff happened to me directly but I could see how cops behaved on the street. I could pick up on all sorts of stories from friends. It was just so far away from how police would behave in Norway. I am just saying this to hopefully make Americans think that they can demand better. Don't think that this is just how cops have to be. No, they don't have to be like that. Cops are not like that everywhere in the world. There is something really off about how people in law enforcement, security, border guards work in the US. Sure you can meet plenty of nice people, but the percentage of people who abuse their power and intimidate normal citizens for no good reason is just too high.

Every single day living here is like a claustrophobic nightmare where you know that one illness can ruin your life. You could easily lose everything you have - which comes with the added dread of knowing that here, the poorer you are, the more vulnerable you are to having your life snuffed out by one of these fuckers - & they can do it quick, all at once with a bullet OR they can stretch it out over decades with some bullshit charge that you are powerless to fight bc you have no $$$ & you'll meet your Public Defender 5 mins before your trial starts. Something like this happened to me many years ago. Cops stopped me and held me up for 3 hours trying to convince me that it's wrong for me to say "what the fuck" to a cop. Had to call the cops on the cops to get them to stop harassing me. Meanwhile, any actual crimes the 6 cops harassing me on the corner may have stopped during that time went off without a hitch. It was more important to them to spend hours convincing me I had committed an offense that isn't in the law books for hours than it was for them to actually go do their jobs.
Implying they would have been doing literally anything other than just harassing some other, probably of a minority, random person just going about their business? Quaint.
I wonder how this cop would do in my profession? I'm a teacher and being disrespected happens. No matter how much my students like me, they're kids and teens. I've been cussed at and flipped off. I've always kept my composure no matter what. Imagine if I cussed at those kids or forcibly dragged them to the principal's office? Hell no! I'd be fired. Cops are taught to view every situation as a potential mortal threat and that the only way to keep yourself as an officer of the law safe is to project absolute control over any interaction. In other words, cop training molds people into becoming oversensitive bitches. And that shit takes a heavy toll on people, both non-cop and cop.

Just so people know, there is no time limit or anything for body cams. They are manually turned on and off. That cop turned the cam off, then turned it on when prompted to by the other cop. Legitimately shameful shit.
The important thing is how they are trying to spin the narrative, to make him guilty. How, they changed the story that he was signaling them. And was causing a public disturbance, that no one alerted or called-in.
Funnily enough, there was a case recently in MI where a woman got pulled over for traffic violation, after recieving the ticket, as the officer pulled away she flipped them off. The officer then pulled her over again because his feelings were hurt. It got all the way up to the US 6th district court of appeals, where they held in favor of the driver. Saying flipping a cop off is protected speech. The case was appealed to supreme court, and they denied the appeal (they didn't take the case up) meaning the Us Court Of Appeals ruling stands. Granted this only counts in the states that 6th district rules over. But sets a good precedent and predictor that, no in fact, flipping a cop off isn't a crime. Cruise-Gulyas v. This reminds me of the time a cop threatened me with detainment for throwing up the victory symbol with my hands (✌) and then asked me if it was a gang symbol. I was.... 11 years old.
Yeah, it's clearly a contempt of cop detention. From Wiki: ""Contempt of cop" is law enforcement jargon in the United States for behavior by people toward law enforcement officers that the officers perceive as disrespectful or insufficiently deferential to their authority.[1][2][3][4] It is a play on the phrase contempt of court, and is not an actual offense. The phrase is associated with unlawful arbitrary arrest and detention of individuals, often for expressing or exercising rights guaranteed to them by the United States Constitution. Contempt of cop is often discussed in connection to police misconduct such as use of excessive force or even police brutality[5] as a reaction to perceived disrespectful behavior[6] rather than for any legitimate law enforcement purpose.[7] Arrests for contempt of cop may stem from a type of "occupational arrogance" when a police officer thinks his or her authority cannot or should not be challenged or questioned.[8] From such officers' perspective, contempt of cop may involve perceived or actual challenges to their authority, including a lack of deference (such as disobeying instructions,[9] or expressing interest in filing a complaint against the officer).[7] Fleeing from the police is sometimes considered a variant of contempt of cop.[10] Contempt of cop situations may be exacerbated if other officers witness the allegedly contemptuous behavior.[11] Charges such as disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer may be cited as official reasons in a contempt of cop arrest.[7] Obstruction of justice or failure to obey a police order is also cited in arrests in some jurisdictions, particularly as a stand-alone charge without any other charges brought.[12][13]" In the last part of that quoted section, these things are ofc, whatever a cop says they are. Resisting arrest, in particular, is often used as a stand-alone charge, which makes a lot of sense, right? Cop: I'm arresting you for resisting arrest. Person who probably isn't a class traitor: You're arresting me for resisting arrest but not for something that would mean that to resist that particular arrest would be resisting arrest? Cop logic, see? :P

The case was appealed to supreme court, and they denied the appeal (they didn't take the case up) meaning the Us Court Of Appeals ruling stands. "Public disturbance" is police code for "I don't actually have anything".
Contempt of cop is often discussed in connection to police misconduct such as use of excessive force or even police brutality[5] as a reaction to perceived disrespectful behavior[6] rather than for any legitimate law enforcement purpose.[7]
Arrests for contempt of cop may stem from a type of "occupational arrogance" when a police officer thinks his or her authority cannot or should not be challenged or questioned.[8] From such officers' perspective, contempt of cop may involve perceived or actual challenges to their authority, including a lack of deference (such as disobeying instructions,[9] or expressing interest in filing a complaint against the officer).[7] Fleeing from the police is sometimes considered a variant of contempt of cop.[10] Contempt of cop situations may be exacerbated if other officers witness the allegedly contemptuous behavior.[11]
Charges such as disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer may be cited as official reasons in a contempt of cop arrest.[7] Obstruction of justice or failure to obey a police order is also cited in arrests in some jurisdictions, particularly as a stand-alone charge without any other charges brought.[12][13]"
In the last part of that quoted section, these things are ofc, whatever a cop says they are.
“you’re being detained because you are acting strange”
“thats not legal???”
“yes it is legal”
wtf is going on 😭
"shut the fuck up, am I free to go" absolutely beautiful
I don't care what political affiliation this kid has, he should take those cops to court and make an example of them.
That delay in recording has gotten A LOT of cos in trouble. Well, caught, not so much in trouble. There was another good video online of a cop stopping a teen who was leaving school for a doctors appointment, and the cop threatened him with his gun and told him he could not leave. He then pushed the record button, forgot about the delay, and when the kid tries to say later about the threat the cop pretends it never happened, thinking it was not recorded.
While I'll never have the balls to do what this kid did or never condone my possible future children if they do the same thing. God bless this kid. I hope he some how gets the resources to attend a decent Law school. If he's already keen enough to learn his rights that throughly at his age, he could be a decent future defense lawyer. The kid seems so naturally skilled at weaving between when to speak and what to say and when to shut up and does it with such confidence.
I don't think he is a kid
@@JackHGUK his voice sounds too high for an adult. Lots of kids are getting huge for their age these days. Then again who knows
@@MrIndiemusic101 well one chatter said he works in his legal office, which normally would be dismissed but then he said he has a suit vs another bunch of cops. Sounds like he's a 20ish debate pervert living his dream.
Also when he provided ID and they didn't take the opportunity to call his parents I think is a dead giveaway
@@ScoffMathewsfair enough, at the same time given the unlawful detainment (imo) and the first cops attitude anyways I don't exactly have enough faith these cops would follow SOP anyways. The first cop looks older and more seasoned. I picked up also on their demeanor when he mentioned the lawsuit.
I hope he makes enough money with the lawsuits against these police departments to fund his law school
Judge: “what are the charges”
🐷: “your honor, this child huwt my feefees 😢”
"We wanted to make sure you were okay, so we pulled over and attempted to arrest you." Incredible.
This might be one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
I wish I felt that confident that a cop wouldn’t just murder me…
If they shoot a white kid they might actually go to jail instead of just losing their job for murder.
Here in Italy, they're a LOT less likely to shoot, but they're more likely to torture you once in jail. And it's actually a crime to insult cops as long as it's done in public
@@bacicinvatteneaca I believe you, but it's insane that that is the case. Cops under capitalism do *not* deserve respect.
“Stop cursing? Fuck you.” I love that so much
With a kid like that I’d have no worries, hes handling his own.
@Dusty Bottoms
Firstly, yes the dude is entitled to his constitutionally protected rights, and he knows it. You can bitch about it all you want but that don't change shit.
Secondly, deadbeat? Sorry are you his step-father who wants him kicked out so you can smash that momussy in peace? How the fuck else would you know his employment situation, or would care at all?
I kid of course, you just care about reinforcing the hierarchy and poor people are at the bottom of the hierarchy so some poor kid with attitude "deserves" to "get put into his place" ie under a boot on his face.
'''sorry i couldnt respond to the call for an active shooter, i was undergoing an investigation of a teenager hurting my feelings''
"why are you giving me the finger?"
"it's legal-"
"no it isn't"
"oh well fuck my freedom of speech i guess."
One of the (very very few) things I respect from the US is that free speech laws are very strong free speech defense. In my country flipping off a cop or calling them a pig in their face, falls under "offending an officer on duty" and it can get you a fine.
I literally can’t count how many times I’ve been “held” for a search. This kid is crazy but brave 👏
same
Based Kid “It’s a crime.”
Cop “Says who?”
Cop “Says me.”
We found him folks, the US congress personified!
"What's gonna be seized while you're walking?"
"My body, my person, IDIOT"
Gigachad
Cops shouldn't be able to turn off their body cams, it should be something that happens through a device at the police station after their shift is over before they go home.
“What’s being seized”
“My body”
“No one is seizing your body”
A minute later…
“Am I free to go”
“No, you’re being detained”
Just out of curiosity I wonder what their hourly rate is, how much did they get paid to intercept and interrogate this hardened crimer?
Some cops have a total compensation of 300k a year. (I could be wrong but also keep in mind comp doesn't meant salary only)
@@ilikecanes lmao I don't think a single Cop is payed that much atleast but the state. Maybe detectives in specific areas but that's absurd dude
@@petermaximoff4598 look up Richmond California PD :'). Sorry total compensation*
@@petermaximoff4598 nope massachusetts had a few cops make that much. Probably because they abuse overtime
@@ilikecanes I just did lol, they get 72k median and at its highest is around 84k. Regardless, no street level beat cop like these guys get that 300k. Atleast if their not private police. Police chief definitely can make bank but not patrol officers lmao
You even hear the cop say "there's no help here" as he turns his bodycam off.
This kid is a shining star from NJ, spitting nothing but FIRE
he had to have gotten this cop fired full stop I need an update
Bro I can’t find the original video I’ve been looking for ages
The kid had the right idea by saying “am I free to go” but he NEEDED to start with “am I being detained”. If they say you are NOT being detained then they have no legal ability to keep you anymore. “If I’m not being detained I’m free to go”
Get this kid a scholarship to being a defence attorney and make money trolling cops.
I'm amazed how clued in this kid is about how things work.
I kinda feel bad for the cops. Never have I seen somebody verbally bully somebody into submission. Come from a kid to the cop? That's fatal.
Since he's from NJ he shoulda just used the "I'm, walking here!" defense.
I can’t adequately describe how funny this is; brb telling my New Jerseyan roommate this story and comment 😂😂😂
New York, but close enough.
I actually audibly laughed at this comment...gold!
to conservatives, getting twitter cancelled is taking away your freedom of speech but literally getting arrested for flipping a cop off isn’t
Who is making that comparison except you? The kid is a Trump supporter lmao, pretty many conservatives would support him. Also twitter the company bans many radial leftists as well so being in favour of a company kinda cringe
@@Smonsequenses i know several older conservatives who regularly say that, including my own father, and i am not in favor of twitter, just think being canceled/banned off of social media is entirely separate from one’s constitutional rights. that’s all
@@whynotfrancis When twitter and facebook get government subsidies and are propped up by the government, they should follow the rules of said government, so yes, banning on twitter is essentially denying free speech when your company's resources are given to you by the people who should be upholding the constitution

@@leonardodavinci7524 I don’t think you could find your own ass with a map, a brain, and two hands!

I've seen this a few times. Never gets old.
He's living out my deepest fantasy 😭
I’m gonna save this and come back whenever I’m having a bad day, this kid’s awesome
that kid knew his rights
Someone should set up a show like a "bait car" concept but for cops and have hidden cameras and a guy dressed up like a stoner kid flipping off cops to see which ones will abuse their power and need to be fired.
I've seen this so many times and it's still probably my favourite Hasan's react video.
Same lmao I literally come back to this when I feel shittty and it makes me smile every time
