  • Dr. Jason Fung was born in 1973 and trained in Los Angeles and Toronto as a kidney specialist. He founded The Fasting Method to provide evidence-based advice for weight loss and managing blood sugars, focusing on low carbohydrate diets and intermittent fasting.
Many of today’s chronic medical issues are related to diet and obesity, yet treatments are focused on medications and surgeries. If you don’t deal with the root cause, the problem never improves. A dietary problem requires a dietary solution.
Dr. Fung is the author of The Obesity Code, The Complete Guide to Fasting, and The Diabetes Code. He is also the scientific editor of the Journal of Insulin Resistance and the managing director of the nonprofit organization Public Health Collaboration (Canada), an international group dedicated to promoting sound nutritional information.
This presentation was filmed during Biohacker Summit Toronto, Canada, in 2018.

I love the topic of fasting as I eat once a day, etc., but it really bothers me when people claim that obesity is caused by people doing what they were “told to do”. That is really just honest. We all know people were not following the pyramid … they were eating much worse than that. Nowhere on the pyramid does it say to supersize your value meal at McDonald’s.

I had a girlfriend in high school, 1988, that swore up and down that bread was terrible for you...everyone thought she was crazy. What do you know...

Why does it sound like a voice clone?

This recording was taken from a stage presentation recorded at the Biohacker Summit, which is a live event. Those typically contain a lot of ambient noise, reverb etc. - so they need to be heavily processed and edited for easier listening. While it's most definitely not a voice clone, even with AI-powered processing there are limits to preventing a trace of the Uncanny Valley effect when cleaning up audio. Thank you for pointing this out - we'll look into improving quality further for future releases!
