I like to believe that the calamity god made a copy of anna's body and just moved her soul into the new one . Treating the body like an old phone but saving the memory cards to put it in a new phone

Theres no proof that souls exist in amphibia. And while true its like uploading the phone, all files are just copies, they can exist at the same time as they are seperate entities. The file isn't moved as much as it is copy and pasted, while the original is destroyed.

I’m going to guess that Matt is eventually going to clarify what exactly happened Anne. I haven’t seen it throughout the entirety of the fandom, but I do see that a small subset of fans is disappointed with the possibility that Anne may be dead

We literally saw her Disintegrate, and The Entity said she's a exact copy made right before death. Anne died, but was brought back by The Entity. Why would they lie?
I think they kept in touch with Marcy. Sasha said they hanged out once in a while and then they could have video-called her, talking about their new friends and things like that, so Marcy wouldn't actually quite know if the two of them drifted apart or not
It's interesting that the Soul doesnt exist in Amphibia,
as we can easily deduce from the whole 'I had to copy you'-Thing.

More importantly: As i understand it, Sprig and Anne will reuinte 80 Years later, when Anne is dead
and the Question is just: does Sprigg have to Die or can Anne go 'onto' the worlds she governs.

Anne will Die of Old Age and become the New Multiverse-Guardian, that has clearly been stated.
So what’s stopping her from entering AMphibia and talking with Sprigg when he’s still alive could only be 1 thing: A Multiverse-LAW that we dont know about.
But even if the small chance of this Law existing is true, she can still do what the Guardian did to HER: Just make a copy and talk witth that.
So yeah, it’s definetly and without a doubt that Anne getting God-like Powers later will reunite her with sprigg.
The ending leaves me with so many questions. What is this new land they discovered? What is the webcomic about? And is this really the end of Amphibia? Feels like there is more than enough potential for a sequel or spin-off

@@TheRealUNGOC I was just about to mention this, since the moon affects water levels. If it is gone there is a possibility that an entire land the size of a continent has surfaced. The other continent is practically Atlantis.
This is even more important to me than Anne’s fate.

The OG Anne has died but the SOUL of Anne is still alive but as Domino the god explained, they put her soul within an exact replica right before she faded away so yes she is alive in a way. Once Anne reaches 91 she’ll become the next god

That's not what they said, just that they made a copy of her before the original died. She's essentially an exact duplicate.
They didn't say her soul transferred. The Domino God literally stated that she was a copy of the original.
The Guardian did not say. It just said she was "for all intents and purposes" Anne, because it's an exact back-up.

The whole Anne thing really reminded me of the game SOMA, where the main protagonist is forced to copy his consciousness into new bodies to progress through the story, but in doing so, he creates multiple versions of himself that are exactly the same as he is, pressing the question of who the true version is.
In Anne's case, the deity precisely called her a copy and a backup of the original Anne right before she expired. So this new Anne would not be the same Anne we've seen throughout the show, but at the same time, she's no different, either. She's a perfect copy with the same experiences who is simply carrying on where the original Anne left off.
Maybe Matt Braly had something else in mind, but this is how I view it with what the show gives us.
Same. I don't see why people are confused by this concept? Like, they really can't fathom that a copy of Anne could still be Anne without being the original. 😑
@@dragnofmetal They have the same memories, but if she's really just a copy she's not the same individual. She'd essentially be a clone that was just given the same personality. If so it's really twisted that the show is so casual about how the Anne that we actually got to know is just dead, and that a back-up was dropped in her place.

The show sort of ended in a bittersweet note. Humans and frogs will "never" see each other again except there was still a way that wasn't explored on the end of the show.
The 2 scientists manage to make a portal to Amphibia on their small lab.
And they used a diesel generator as a power source and said that if it wasn't enough power nothing would be, but, a diesel generator is literally nothing when compared with power sources that we have available.
So yeah, with tech improvements, greater sources of power like a entire powerplant and government/private funds/support its totally plausible that the human realm would manage to make a decent size portal to Amphibia or any other dimension.
I think the show could have ended on that note. The 3 girls going to a lab/facility to see the progress of the portal construction.
It would also tie with Hop Pop and Anne good bye. "Like a old wise frog once told me: Family always find each other". Its weird that Anne say it on her goodbye but never actually tries to find a way back to Amphibia...
I have a question for Matt: in the store where Anne stole the calamity box, why was it also paired with bookshelf that also looked like it was tied to Amphibia? In other words, is it significant or just for design purposes?
We often forget how time can pass us by we love these 3 heroes because they are us they share our flaws they share our strengths and our sorrows and our joys but the question remains what happens now? The day is won the world has been saved and swords are down the shields hung up and the guns unloaded the answer is simple we continue the story just because the book is closed does not mean the story is over it may not be Matt Braly writing the story or the cast telling us it but its up to us now and as long as we keep supporting this show it will live on. Not distance nor time will change our love of this show nor its love for us Thank you Amphibia Thank you for everything and it was an honor being by your side till the end.

This fucking episode made me cry out to dry, still can't accept that this is the end. One of my favourite series, definitely.
The decision of them leaving Amphibia forever is both annoying and understandable at the same time
Its either this or cleaved where the consequences were removed but only for the people responsible for the decision and not all of the other countless beings who would have suffered significant collateral damage and in many cases death from the decisions of a few.

I will miss this masterpiece of a series more than I have missed any piece of media in my life. This is no exaggeration. I truly adore this show, and I think it had a perfect ending to it.
Even if she dies in her time she'll be reborn as the guardian of the multiverse, the Deity of the stones basically a god I wonder if we'll see her again in a new show as a guardian.

Wait, didn't Mady and Marcy revive a dead pet once? I think that there might be an after life in the Amphibia world, but the stones might have taken a toll on Anne's soul. There is also the possibility that the after life isn't part of the guardian's jurisdiction and cannot rip out someone's soul, but making a backup and recreating a body is with in the guardian's capability.
On a side note I would like a spin-off where Marcy is transferred to Connecticut, meets Luz, becomes her apprentice/friend, learns oracle magic, and summons original Anne as a guardian spirit.

@@shivangparikh2933 honestly I like how it promotes the theme of accepting change, not to forget how realistic it is. They were in mid school so Realistically they'd split up, they're still friends just not as close. Which is good enough for me.
I think god saved anne to become guardian and she wants to live her life to be a better person and this is a great series and matt sure make a great finale so I love amphibia more then ever so that was a great ending!

You must not know what a cliché is. It means something done so much it loses it’s meaning. If anything, giving us a message of growing apart and change is something not usually done. If they stayed together forever is unrealistic

For the love of Christmas, why are we debating this!? Anne's alive and all her memories and experiences are intact. The being even says, "For all intents and purposes, you're the SAME Anne Boonchuy." Do you really think the show would throw in some overly complicated Ship of Theseus debate at the last moment when the ending is framed the way it is?
That is simply the way of the fandoms.
Based on previous observations this may result in infighting or it'll stay as a simple debate that's occassionally brought up by a more recent fans.
My interpretation is "for all intents and purposes, you're the same Anne Boonchuy" means "you're a perfect copy of Anne"
@@izuto727 So it is the real Anne. The Watcher even said, "I'm sending you BACK to the world of the living". So that means it's the same Anne. If it were really meant to be a copy the show would've definitely clarified that more.
I'm guessing these other continents are home to other anthropomorphic animals. Like 1 land is full of mammals, another has reptiles, another still has insects and a whole other is birds. Any who this finale was great, Annes' death gave me Avengers endgame flashbacks.
The way I see it, Anne’s body died, but her mind, memories, and consciousness has been transferred into a new body that is, for all intents and purposes an exact copy of her old body.
So tell me how that would give her an existensial crisis. Because it seemed like Anne too believed she was a clone of her dead self. So…?

I think anyone with half a brain can say that they had an amazing time with amphibia. This is one of the few shows that would implement dark elements and still feel like the same show. Amphibia is amazing, filler and story. Also love Yunan and Olivia, honestly knew they were going to be a thing.
Probably the only time I didn’t enjoy the show was certain parts of Season 3, but that’s to be expected. Still, I only found this because I needed something while waiting for Rick and Morty Season 6, and I don’t have any regrets.

I kinda like how this show left us questioning if Anne died or not. It's rare for cartoons to take death seriously, if it's ever mentioned at all, and it's rarer to leave viewers wondering what death even is.

I think the idea in the concept he was going for was the idea that death is somewhat permanent but there are ways and obstacles around it.

I actually, aggressively LOVE Polly's frog design! It's super cute and just really fits with who she is. Love the random bandages! There was only one thing that we didn't get to see that I'm kinda bummed about. We never got to see Sasha's and Marcy's parents. Like, I get its not really important to the story, I just would have liked seeing them and their relationships with the girls.
My guess is that they’re going to do what Gravity Falls did, and make a comic series, basically serving as an Amphibia mini season,(season 3c or 4). And it will have stories of each character doing something. Like maybe Sprig and Ivy adventuring the new continent, or a story of what the girls did after getting back from Amphibia, and maybe one that has the girls meeting up again in the Epilogue of the episode.

So the original Anne is back. Simple resurrection. There's no clone. Let. It. Go.
Well the question is, what prevents this copy of Anne from being... just Anne with another chance? The story is about change, and the stone deity seems to be kind of stuck on more complex ideas.
By all means, to me, this Anne is still Anne... just her with another chance, sure she died... but technically none of us are truly the person we were before.
what you said raises some questions, for example, it takes 7 years for each of our cells to replace, and if you were to commit a crime that sent you to jail for twenty, are you still the same person and still you suffer the consequences of your pass self?

Perhaps this Anne is still the same Anne, just with a new physical body. After all, her soul still exists in one form or another.

One problem: We know that Ghosts(well at least one ghost see Zecharia Nettles) exist in Amphibia which implicates the existence of a soul.
That doesn’t mean her soul was transferred otherwise the deity would’ve explicitly said “your dead, this is your soul”

Hey everybody I just came up with a fan theory that I think y'all will really like and could actually be possible if you think
about it:
Ok so after watching the finale a second and then a third time while getting emotional and crying I started thinking about this. So when Anne actually "died" and she went to that let's say "Godly Observatory" and talked to that all powerful God Watcher like Being and it talked about how it observes millions of worlds and how it has great power to (like summoning a now dead Anne to it's realm). It summoned Anne and gave her a job offer to replace it in observing the many worlds in the Universe and then she turns it down. However it still tells her how she could take over after she passes away at 91 (love that joke by the way). And then it returns her back to the living( like it's nothing). So when she passes away I think she will replace the being and gain all that power. So remember how when Anne was saying good bye to her frog family at the end she tells Hop Pop that "Family Always Finds Each Other". So now that Anne is an all powerful being she could and will summon Sprig after he passes away. Making them finally reunite in the afterlife having an emotional reunion and could go on to talk about their lives after they separated from each other and what they still met to each other. Then continuing to watch over the Universe and or go on to have many adventures together.

I'm just so emotional right now and I really like the ending. I loved this show from the very first episode. And I really like this idea of how they could reunite and be together without undercutting the meaning of the finale.

And let me know what you think of my theory. I personally like my theory of how Anne and Sprig could reunite. In all honesty, I think Anne is still the same Anne we've been with since the beginning. She's just in a different body. That's how I justify it unless Matt says otherwise. Also, can you ask Matt what is the deal with Sasha's control issues and her rebellious nature with authority? Are Sasha's parents divorced? If so, that might explain her control issues. Sometimes when people, especially children are put into situations outside of their control, they tend to try to take control over situations that they think they can control, especially if it matters to them. That's at least my theory on Sasha's control issues based on what we know about her from before she came to Amphibia.
As I said to everyone that worried about the same thing: "same soul, different box"
She's still Anne. The creator wouldn't offer the job of GOD to a mere duplicate.

The series finale was incredible
As someone who doesn't believe in souls then a new Anne with all her memories intact is functionally a revival for me. To borrow some logic from Dr. Who our thoughts and memories are the truest extensions of who we really are. So if this Anne has the same mind and memories then it's the real Anne by my book
But souls DO exist in amphibia. Remember Zechariah Nettles? The ghost who helps lost travelers in the episode "Night Drivers".
@@dranoell7758 Yeah potentially. Either way the concept of whether or not this is Anne's soul is never addressed and left completely up to your own interpretation
I came to two differently conclusions. One, Anne died and the cosmic guardian created a clone of her. Two, just before Anne died, the cosmic guardian created a copy of her body and "uploaded" her consciousness to it, similar to how the Core uploads minds to it. I'm more inclined to believe the second one based on foreshadowing with the Core, and because it's Disney, and they wouldn't just kill off the main character and create a clone of her to take her place. And sure they have souls, as we've seen spirits in Amphibia (not the jellyfish things), including the one who tried to guide Sprig and Polly.
I am dying to know what Marcy/Darcy’s green blood was about. I was so sure that it was gonna mean something

For me I feel like that both is and isn't anne I can imagine that the price of using all three calamity stones not only destroyed her body but soul as well but just she was about to die the god of the multiverse simply moved Anne's memory into a new body so while technically the body is a copy the soul and memories are genuine

Amphibia has been an incredible journey for me and an emotional rollar coaster that has brought me joy and made me cry but will always remain in my heart!I don't know what the future awaits but I'll be ready to embrace it and take many of the show's lesson to heart
I go up to Anne. I ask her if she was a worker of the aquarium. She says yes. We talk for a while before I ask her for an interview of her exhibit. She accepts, and we agree on 3:45pm. I arrive and start the interview. She answers all of my decoy questions, until finally I reach the last one. We finish, but just before she leaves, I ask if I can ask her one more question. She says sure, and I say in the deepest, most monotone, most serious voice I can:
*"How does it feel to die?"*
Honestly I think that the guardian just made Anne a new body and transported her consciousness to the new vessel.

It’s not a copy of Anne, it’s a backup. Think of it like backing up a file on your computer. It’s a previous version of her right before she died.

@@CartoonUniverse when you copy something, you now have two of it. When you backup something, you're saving it at a specific point so if something happens you can revert back to that previous version of it. So a copy and backup are similar, but a copy is creating a cloned version from the original, so you have two, while a backup is more so the original but a previous version of it.
If you alter the copy it's no longer identical to the original version, and you're left with now two different things, and if you delete the original you're left with the copy. A backup is a previous version of that thing. So it's like going back to that point in time when you saved it. So if the original is deleted, you're left with the version of the original prior to it being deleted.
So in Anne's case, the Guardian does say it created a copy, "a backup if you will," of Anne, which could mean a copy meaning for a split second there were two Annes existing simultaneously before the original was deleted, or a backup being the Guardian had saved Anne right before she died, then reverted her back to that version, meaning there was always only one Anne.
my idea of what braly wanted to do really: anne dies turns into leaves, and instead of being brought back, the deity tells her she cannot bring her back since it would be the same that the core was doing: to violate the law of the nature that the death is irreversible, however, anne's soul appears to all her friends, giving marcy and sasha the last bits of the crystals in order to allow them to go back to earth, and to live for her, and after say farewell to everyone, anne would go with the deity to be trained as the new multiversal guardian...but disney would not hallowed him to kill a children in a kids cartoon, for the same we gotr this ending...

I see only two scenarios.
1. Anne's body was destroyed but the Guardian was able to save her soul and simply threw it into a new body.
2. Anne died completely and the Guardian made an exact copy of Anne, body and soul.
To help explain the difference. Option 1, Anne we know simply passout and woke up in the other world we see, Option 2, that Anne never wakes up and alternate Anne does instead.
I go with #1; we see Anne getting dropped down the portal back to Amphibia.
Anne fell back to the living world when the Watcher said it would 'return her'. So doesn't that mean the real Anne was resurrected?
I think its just like a perfect copy so perfect its like an anne from a alternate universe
I'm going with that the afterlife is beyond the 3 Stone Deity ability to reach and that is why he made a copy instead of using the OG soul.
Anne's frog exhibit isn't just any frog exhibit, it's the AMPHIBIA frog exhibit, filled with mini versions of the Plantar's house, Newtopia, and the Olms, as well as what looks like something to do with the gems/prophecy
I don't care if the Anne we have now isn't THEE Anne, what matters is that there's even AN Anne at all.
I gotta say I absolutely loved this finale, it addressed everything it needed to in a way so seamless that I'm still getting whiplash from it. However, I'm still emotionally reeling from it for obvious reasons.

Terry still knows how to make a portal to Amphibia. Even though it’s not big enough to fit through they can send letters and stuff
I was so sad it ended not crying sad but shock sad because I want very invested in amphibia but I watched every episode and wow it really ended and it was a great show
i personally believe Anne’s consciousness was transferred to a new body like if a computer ai was given some weird boston robotics dog body
Anne’s original body (that her mom birthed) is gone done dissolved but her actual consciousness isn’t it’s the same Anne her mind has just been moved to a new body
Them forcing a redemption for Andrias and not even having him PUNISHED for his crimes was easily the worst thing about this finale. Kind of soured my whole view on it
He is being punished... He's being forced to help regrow the lands he ruined and plant seeds and do land work .. he was literally in chains...

I honestly hope that when Anne dies she brings her friends/Family up with her to help patrol the multiverse. We know she wont be able to do it alone.
Matt if you were able to would you make an Amphibia movie showing Sprig and Ivy discovering a new portal to the multiverse and finding Anne Marcy and Sasha

Amphibia is an amazing show. Matt Braly and his crew killed it with this series and will be remembered fondly for years to come
The real thing is that people are in denial. It's human nature. The show is very not ambiguous about it but we don't accept that because it means grief. Anne died. What we see is an exact copy. She has all her memories, all her feelings, all the things that make her Anne, but she is a copy. Anne sacrificed herself for Amphibia and died. It's kinda like creating a copy of a file and deleting the original. The copy is exactly the same as the original file, but it's still a copy.
I’m still holding to the belief that only her original body is destroyed, while Anne’s mind and soul are saved at the last moment and put into a new body.
Like in Big Hero 6 where Baymax “dies” only to be revived Hiro finds his motherchip and builds a new body for him
I'll be interested to see what future new Disney shows will come that will actually try to reference Anne being a new god in it's time that takes place decades after the current shows.
I have a theory that Anne can still be connected with the planters.At the end of the hardest thing Anne gives her phone to sprig and all phones have phone numbers so Anne probably got a new phone.She could remember her old phone number and then tried to call sprig since he has her phone and then they would have a connection with Anne again.

I'd like to think she's basically a clone with the memories and personality of Anne but not the real one
She died. This is Anne 2. I actually like the fact that they managed to justify fully killing their protagonist while also keeping her memories alive. Outstanding 10/10 ending to a pretty good show.
The ending was beautiful it made me cry 😭
What's so hard to understand? Anne's original body was destroyed, the guardian said it created a back up of her, a 1:1 backup before she died. Not a fake Anne, same Anne, new body that isn't destroyed.

I mean they answered that in the show. The original is dead. The watcher made a copy of her before she died so the Anne we have is that. I guess it's more fair to say it downloaded her consciousness then uploaded it into a new body. Plus she's gonna become like a god at the end of her life.
I think it was just her body that was destroyed. Everything inside; her heart, her personality, her soul; everything that made Anne Anne was saved. So there isn't a new Anne just the old Anne in a new body. Think of it like in Big hero 6 when Baymax's body is lost in the void but his chip survived meaning Baymax himself was not lost. Or like whenever the doctor regenerates. Anne is still Anne

I feel that we would get a lost legends style book soon. Stories from amphibia, either that or a prequel series taking place before the events of the series 1000 years ago. Also can you ask what the cores final defenses were?
This was such a powerful conclusion. It’s very apparent how much passion and thought and work (or heart and wit and strength) has gone into Amphibia, and there was just so much growth throughout the series that paid off here (I especially love how the girls’ Calamity Powers are based on things that are meaningful to them, like cheerleading and tennis and Domino and a 20-sided die). The message about change is handled with grace and maturity- I’d honestly think it was a little lame if the girls, after all they experienced, just stayed best friends forever and never parted. You may have to let things go, but that can open new doors, and sometimes old ones reopen too. More than any other fictional world I’ve seen in a long time, Amphibia feels alive. Its characters are thoughtfully written and extremely likable, and it’s done a wonderful job of getting me attached to them. It has provided me with no small amount of comfort and inspiration in my life, and I’m sure it’s done the same for so many others who gave it a chance. Thank you, Matt Braly. Thank you, Amphibia.
I don't know why but they could have made another season I mean after this current episode it gave us a lot to work with it can be spray exploring another land it can also be and Sasha and Marcy celebrating his birthday the possibilities are endless with this episode.

since there's a multiverse, that means that in one....the calamity box stayed in tact and they can travel between worlds and in one, Anne really did die, etc

Why was there so much foreshadowing to “Anne loses an arm” “Sasha loses an eye” “hop pop dies” but none of that was used for those characters?
As shown in your early intro pilot from 1:15-1:20, there are tortoises, are tortoises, turtles, and lizards possibly on that new continent that Grime found?
Is the amphibia time-skip 10 years or less? We saw the time-skip card appear after the amphibia one.
Why didn’t we see Sashas or Marcys parents? there was some foreshadowing to them.
Shouldn’t amphibia be destroying itself since theres no moon in its orbit?
If the guardian really made a copy of Anne, why is it flipped?

one of my favorite endings was from 'star vs the forces of evil' when the magic dimension and the human dimension merged. I liked how in 'Amphibia' everybody went back to their world. I am hoping though for 'Owl House', Luz will stay in the demon realm.
Two things
1. Did anybody else's shipping instincts start kicking in at the end of the finale
2. Even though the show has ended it's legacy will live on through our hearts and reruns.
