So happy to see the low-floor buses now.. Low-floor buses can seat the same or even more passengers than old-style high floor buses (68 passengers VERSUS 59 passengers), even though the low-floor buses are only half the size of old-buses! Amazing technology :) And they have easier access: no steps, and hydraulic floors that raise or lower for PWD, Senior Citizens, and pregnant women. They cost less to maintain than the old-style buses, and are safer for passengers and drivers. That is why they are now the worldwide standard for city-buses.. Finally it seems Metro Manila is catching up to the rest of the world; so well done to LTFRB and MMDA for enforcing, and thanks Gadget Addict for sharing! :) I hope they can take full advantage of modern PUJ (i.e. real minibuses) too. The metro and the entire country needs to seriously modernize its public transportation.

Low Floor buses do not have the passenger advantage over high-floor buses. This is only correct with those Luxury buses with minimum seating but you get more comfort when sitting inside them. All high-floor buses are older than low-floor which is why some of them do not have the tech that low floors do. Some old examples, The Nissan Diesel buses are the best example here as when you search on the Wiki, Nissan Diesel doesn't make those buses anymore but PH bought an overwhelming batch of them or have body makers that partnered up with them (E.g Santarosa bodyworks) plus, I'd say low-floors have a huge disadvantage in floods as when you open the door you will be letting all of that water into the bus.
