That’s great advice! I recently started uploading devlogs so this video comes at the perfect time for me :) I think in the end it all comes down to making good content. It might not get you attention at the beginning, but in the long run it’s gonna pay off. And if it doesn’t, you still made something to be proud of!

Icornso is the kindest corn for believing in everyone. Sorry I just cant stop putting Icornso in my comments he is just too cool. Yeah I really need to start writing some scripts for my audio in my videos, also thanks for all the thumbnail tips, I really don't know where to start when making a thumbnail and it usually just blends in with all the other videos. Yes you responding to comments and actually reading them has really kept me coming, I feel like I am part of the community and that people care what I have to say so yeah a big thank you to that. I will make Icornso proud! Also the raid shadow legends thing at the end was amazing.

One of the things that RUclips does that annoys me, is when they give you that "Your last 10 videos, ranked!" thing. *Don't pay any attention it at all.* None of it matters. Those videos might take off later (most of mine lately have a very long tail for views), so don't stress it.
Oh yeah, absolutely. I’ve had videos go big boom boom after a while, too, and I think there could be a lot better sorts of analytics that could be provided. Maybe we need to create our own game-dev specific video sharing platform 🤔

Do you (or anyone else) have any advice on how to talk confidently in your videos?
I think I'm struggling a bit with that and the only things I can find are videos on how to talk confidently on camera but these videos focus more one the visual part (how to look good on camera) instead of the audio
Now make a video about how to get enough time next to school to upload videos every week (I once managed to do that, but now that I'm in highschool I haven't uploaded since last summer (but I'm editing a view videos). I remember the time when we had about the same number of subs and your game jam videos started to do well. Also nice that you are uploading daily right now (how? Do you still have holidays?). Nice video and cool that you're helping out fellow game dev youtubers
Haha, that's actually a topic I'm considering talking about, for sure! ^^ School and RUclips can definitely be difficult to manage, so don't beat yourself up over it :) Best of luck with the new video, too! :D

My tip is to be unique. People like ThinMatrix and Dani took off because they were unique. I think these days most game dev youtubers seem to 'follow the crowd' when making videos because uniqueness is really hard to achieve.
I definitely agree! With so many game dev youtubers now, you really have to do your best to stand out. I think Dani did a great job of incorporating humour into his videos whereas ThinMatrix create a really chill and calming atmosphere in his content :)
Ahhh... I know a "RUclipsr" (an Australian Dad playing Zelda games) with not even 30 subs who I always comment on (and im often the only one lul) and he writes so nice a mostly long replies and I absolutely love it. Ok frick I shouldnt recommend other channels on someones video ur cool icornso

Wish you talked about common bad game dev RUclipsr tropes to avoid like monotone voice = funny, shouting out friend with the overused "I'm stuck in their basement" joke, game devs collaborating and disliking eachother as a joke, etc. Probably seem like nitpicks, but I think it's worth mentioning imo.
That can definitely be something I can talk about in a future video! I guess these concepts really come down to the creator and what they want for their channel :>

It's completely up to you! I've separated my channels up into a game dev and a music one, so whatever feels most comfortable! It's important that you do what you want, otherwise you won't have any motivation to continue :>

For your devlogs, do you record your entire sessions or only when you feel something should be recorded
I write a script as I develop the game, and then record all at one :D
Oh yeah, and for recording gameplay, I do that at the same time as development, usually, just recording small snippets of the project ^^
