Congrats on 100 videos and the AdSense! I completely agree that bad audio is the biggest turn off for a RUclips video. Also I don't know why people are complaining about your thumbnails. I think your format is really clean and the thumbnail is what made me click on your channel so keep up the great work!

This channel has come a long way. I like the consistency of your uploads and the information is interesting to me, entertaining, and valuable for this hobbyist dev day-dreaming about full time game dev as they do other engineering work 😂

Honestly I love Devlogs with just the stuff that the person is working on and just a voice over. If the game and what is shown is interesting of course.

Your team is an inspiration to me honestly. I wanna do game dev videos too (would be on a different channel) and these tips are gonna help me a ton.
I just love the openness, charsima n friendliness of ur team. Keep makin good vids.
Audio 100% is what keeps me watching. I cant watch the videos of 10 subs and 100 views with bad audio but ur videos audio being good def hook it in.

Thanks for the advice. Your videos have been really great and helpful. The thumbnails are fine. I would also love it and watch if you made more long form videos, like podcasts, interviews or talks with other devs.

Hi! I've been watching you for some time now. I'm not into gamedev, I'm a software tester, but I like the game scene, I love watching how amazing the graphics become, even if I don't play myself.
    1) Your face, voice, English and movements are perfectly fine. Absolutely no problem about it.
    2) I actually do watch short videos I am playing. So I like when you show something. Only lectures or longer podcast I listen to while doing something else.
    3) Regarding topics: I am interested in game design: I am very curious what makes people play Candy Crush for hours on end. Why "open world" games are actually painfully linear ("Mafia" comes to my mind). I am curious about people like John Blow and his philosophy. How games changed from the 90s (when I was a gamer) and why AAA studios release half-baked products (like 'Cyberpunk'). And everything tech - tooling, pipeline, devops, etc.
    4) Bad audio is really something that destroys a video. I wonder if you also apply the same attitude to games? Can a cool game be destroyed by bad audio, and can an average game be elevated to higher level (somehow WarCraft2 or C&C Red Alert come to mind).
    Good luck!

Our videos aren't as fancy as yours, but I think that there's no way I could get them as polished as yours with more than 1 upload a month. Keep it on as well! -M

I really that the Videos seem honest. It's not just a person just talking to a camera in a monotonous voice.
And regarding the Timestamps. I really like it when a Video has timestamps. Especially when in the first Ppart of the video is about a sponsor or advertisement about something. Then I easily can jump to the next timestamp.

@@bitemegames we are a team of 2, while we dont aim to directly go fulltime dev we will still need to open something when we release on steam, and we feel overwhelmed by that, as we have absolutely no clue what we should do.

Naming of your Titles should be more satisfying and more '' dramatic ''. Just like audio is king, Title is king. It is even more important than thumbnail since you don't have time to improve in thumbnail.
for example, instead of '' My advice for gamedev RUclipsrs ''. I look at the timestamps and try to extract a stronger title. Like '' Game Developer Committing to RUclips or NOT ? ''

Two uploads. That be really hard for a hobbiest even once a week. Goodgis is about once a month schedule. His videos do a lot better because I think the quality is better.

Just as I was thinking “damn I could never do twice a week, my videos take a week to make at least.” You call me out 😆. I can’t do twice a week, but I guess I can do better than once every 3-4 months hahah.

To me it all ends up about "balancing gamedev and youtube". My first priority is gamedev, youtube is second.
And I need to make something to then talk about it. I just can't go for quantity, cause then my games AND my yt content would suffer. So far I made 16 videos in a bit less than 2 years. Generally waiting around 2-3 months in between with a couple of more "filler" videos. I can see that at around 1.5-2 months of not uploading, ALL my videos do slightly worse, like the YT gods punish me.
But I feel it kind of works for me. I had one relatively successful video that was a yearly recap, I quadrupled my subs from that single video and since then, my "normal" videos do a lot better, even if they are comparable to older videos (slightly better made 😆) but it gives me hope that it gets easier. I know how to make better videos, I have more subs to watch those videos. I can work on my games, thinking about how I'll make a video about it and some people will care and that's a nice feeling imo.

I get the "I need to make games to talk about it" part. Luckily I'm not solo, so the time when I'm working on videos, the rest of the team works on improving the game still. I think doing it solo, and going for 2x a week can be a struggle in getting quality out there, whilst not preventing making the game itself

Ya I love the vids too.Your face I can deal with... it's the conformist haircut that causes me concern. Lol. But the vids are helpful, common sense advice that is refreshing.
It's a competitive business and I'm just a Timid Tiger so good advice helps.

    I was to ask...
Is it really necessary to be a gamedev RUclipsr?

    • @bitemegames
      @bitemegames  8 месяцев назад +1

No, absolutely not. A lot of indie devs do seem to want to become one, as it can seem like a free, easy way to do marketing (it isn't).
So don't worry if you're not a RUclipsr, you're not missing out. -M

I was hoping for a standard FB, X, Insta post based content and TikTok, YT short video content
