That just reinforces the theme of the movie even better. Rango was (initially) a pretender. And yeah, by all accounts that's just an impressiom of Eastwood, also someone pretending...but he **needed** to be the Man with No Name for this story, to inspire Rango to be the hero Dirt needed.
The difference in movie morals these days and the old ones are pretty wide. Rango preaches "Do it for them" , "be a hero" , while modern movies primarily focus on "do it for yourself" and "you're enough"
Rango is like the Depp's most famous character, captain Jack Sparrow, he starts like a trickster without any honor, but at the end of the movie he's back not only to save the day, but to be the hero that everybody needs
You can clearly see that the movie wad made more for adults than kids once you're an adult, and that's what makes it so good to go back and watch because the story is just that good!
