I-fixit should license that commercial for them to play on other channels
They need to update that commercial since GPUs are plentiful now... Pricing sucks now, but the inventory problems don't exist anymore. Love iFixit and use their Essential Electronics Toolkit all the time.
@@bryanwhite2685 I understand what you are saying, but I think the commercial still works. It's just too good.
I was about to write: No matter how many times I heard it, that "we interrupt that interruption" still cracks me Up AND makes me want to shop at iFixit. Very effective hook!
i came here for the i-fixit advert and oh yeah jay doing a good vid after
Totally 😅
How is your health Jay? Been a while since you updated us.
I hoped for that question
Agreed. You demonstrated an awful amount of vulnerability, and I think we all respect that. Hope you are living strong.
I was thinking about you yesterday; I always love to see you on screen!
But take all the time you need, too. It's great seeing the rest of the crew in front of the camera too.
Much love, brother!
this is all i think about anymore, i wish he'd just come forward about it so we could help him
More than anything, including channel and subscribers put yourself and family first Jay.
Was watching this video late last night on my phone. My wife is a deep sleeper and watch videos on my phone loud all the time. But the iFix it ad startled her and woke her up LOL.
That's the same here every time this ad comes on when she's a sleep, she sleeps from everything but Jay's iFixIt ad 😅 literally
Boredom is having everything you ever wanted and can't decide what to do lol.
@JayzTwoCents
Fun fact, I was a manager at a PCClub for a few years(until the founder's son ran the company into the ground...) and we didn't suffer any losses from defects returns. We sent them back to the manufacturers for credit on new inventory. Sure it cost some shipping but that was factored into the costs of operation. Do not in any way feel bad about those returns, it wouldn't have done much, if any, harm or loss.
This was awesome. Love the genuineness of these. Fun!
I like these small videos, stay healthy and positive Jay
That back plate connector motherboard is called Project Zero
Yeah, just had a buddy do a build using the MSI B650M Project Zero mobo. Has the connectors on back. Looks great, but he did say it limited him on case options due to the new connector placement. Two Corsair and two MSI cases, and one other he mentioned, were his choices. I pretty much lean the same as you on the aesthetic appeal, Jay. Happy St. Patrick's Day! :D
I love the Power connectors on the back of MB. All vendors just need to keep everything where it is now but on the back instead of the front. super easy. all case makers can make cases to support that. super simple. it does not have to be complicated.
Those mini mills and lathes can put out some impressive stuff for the size, and they fit on a bench. They can be upgraded for rigidity and accuracy too.
My big question is, since I don't have twitter, have you ever been given an opportunity to design your own pc case line?
yea so many bots on that platform and lack of freedom of speech
Same. I killed all my socials in the past 2 years. Too many idiots on those platforms xD
Jay is a certified yapper. All BS talk
4.01M subscribers, congrats dudes!
I remember a video during one of the SW rebuilds, and you had just bent all the tubing for it; one of the DIMM slots wasn't functioning. You were not happy about that. Something about be sure to bench test everything, especially when custom watercooling is involved.
CNC right up my alley. Love it. I am with you Jay.👍
Love this format!
whiskey neat
Whiskey is your spirit animal Jay
Jay, take a look into the Langmuir Systems MR-1 gantry mill. Very affordable for a mill and had a huge work area, all in a 4x4 footprint. Almost done assembling mine, can't wait to start making parts!
Not many people can remember something from their first couple of years (0-4). My earliest memory is from when I was around 4½, and I guess it's because it is a pretty potent memory, as I was at Legoland with my family. And I remember my father recording with a shoulder camera (the ones where you put VHS tapes into to record), because this was the summer of 1990.
Don't mind these kinds of videos. Hope to see more!
Reminds me of that time I bought a Sun workstation from Canada, and didn't remember they're a 110V country just like the US.. plugged it in here in the EU and it gave a spectacular BANG. Thankfully, the parts were still legible so I could replace them..
Really love this kind of content, Jayz
It is interesting, fun, and give quite a bit of insight on how human you guys are.
"How badly did you screw up a build?"
"Well, I blew up a motherboard. Twice. For the exact same reason."
We all feel like that sometimes, but seeing someone who is a reference do that puts us at ease.
I would LOVE to see more innovation regarding "using the back of the motherboard".
It's like single sided pages in a book.... Just use both sides!
Thanks for featuring me in a video again Jay! And yes the frequency thing is what I suspect. As my undervolt is on the posted boost clock max frequency from the manual and website. So eh. At least it works now.
Jay wanna maufacture his own stuff so basically he wanna be Der8auer 😂😂
Whiskey is my spirit animal too.
I already got I fix it & it's really good! Really worth the money!!!
Gaming rig built into an electric go cart that gives force feedback in games through the wheel but can also drive. Maybe also a turret on there with a camera and a drone landing/take-off pad on the front end with a bay that opens and closes. You know... something smaller than a car :)
If you have the room, you need to get a small metal shop build with foam insulation or something, and then you would have the room to do anything you want!
Loved it thanks❤
Bourbon Bacon Jam, also sometimes called bacon maple jam.
Love it, im curious of the vlog now lol
Great video Jay, brought back some trauma, who remembers stuffing their screwdriver into the motherboard trying to fit a socket 7 cooler lol - I managed to fix the tracks with a mini soldering iron, split wire from a mains cable and an eye glass - Phew!
you are a man after my own heart. Whiskies is what i like as well. Trouble is, being from Belgium i like beers as well :). Whiskies is a late exploration from give or take a year of 5.
My top 3 of whiskies at the moment are Green spot, Hibiki Harmony and Ardbeg Ugdail. Thanks for al the great content
that power format that puts the power plug at the end of the pci-e slot reminds me of the vsa local bus expansion some old isa slots had
Your mechanic friends saved you a LOT of headaches, they were 100% correct😅
Love this video nice one mate can not wait for the next on yep on answering these questions defnelty interesting yep. 😉😏😄😃😁
I am learning how to CNC/manuel Lathe and milling. Its not what you think, but still worth it!
Of course I come for the tech stuff, but these videos are also interesting. People may ask questions you've been thinking about or you can ask yourself, or come up with something important/interesting that you never thought about. Regardless of the video, when I see the new video up, I come watch, even ones that I'm not really interested in like water cooling.
Hey Jay, TeddyTiger from Twitter here. Thanks for the shoutout and answer! I follow your Twitch but didn't know about the Whiskey collection. I'll have to remember that for the future!
Congrats on 4 million
my first SLI-build, when it was a brandnew tech, I had the PSU explode cause I was dumb enough to tape the on-button pushed in. The computer wouldn't stay on so I came up with that solution. That was the loudest bang I had ever heard. Funny thing is they sent me a new PSU without asking questions, lol.
I feel you, Jay. I'm 42 with a 20 year old and a 7 year old.
Thanks Jay!
would love to see jay make cnc stuff
i love this!
I recommend to you the Danish Stauning Whiskey called Kaos!
my guy, i wanted to be a mechanic as well my love for cars was so immense i couldnt think of anything else that would make me more happy than working on cars. every where i looked everybody said the same thing, if you want to keep working on cars fun than don't make it your job. but nahhh that wasn't gonna happen to me i couldn't imagine me being tired of working on cars.... oh boy was i wrong
The new minnooooow.. I went to school to be a mechanic myself got hurt and wanted to get a degree in my other passion computers. Being a mechanic sucks when you're a full time mechanic the love for cars disappears 😆
yaaay, Jay finally inviting us all over for a whiskey tasting at his place !!!
Malt Whisky Raspberry Jam; available from 'The Whisky Sauce Co' in bonnie Scotland (they have a web shop).

Undervolting is the the act of shifting the entire frequency voltage curve to the left 1 or more notches meaning higher frequency for the same voltage
So what will have actually happened to them is running out of power headroom and the act of higher frequency lower voltage is allowing the card to stay at a lower voltage and have more current available at that frequency than it otherwise would have
For my 3090 for example my curve starts at +235 at 0.7c and slowly tapers off to +30 at 1.025v because i run out of power limit before the card hits max frequency
I don't know if this would work similiar or same on CPUs but I had undervolted my 2600 and it would have a bit lower temps and boost to 3.9 (the normal boost allowed by defaults and bios unless you change clocks) and the clocks were set to auto, my idea was during a game or something it would boost down to keep temps/stability but I still had computer going black screen and be "frozen" (turned on but non responsive). Trying to research people said this could've been due to the PSU despite the wattage being enough, the quality and build of it in a way that it would overcharge and make it jump causing the issue.
I changed that since and instead of a set voltage I put an offset and now it boosts only to 3.725 (Ghz) but temps are handled which is what I cared about. So far no issues, so we'll see how that goes. My shotty house electricity might've played some part on that too but can't tell for sure.
@@LautaroQ2812 for CPU's you drop the voltage you always drop the current as well [very few exceptions]
Curve optimiser is just undervolting
I could have my 2600 at a 3.95GHz static overclock in star citizen i think it was 1.15v and a really bad cooler
But in linpack couldn't go past 3.3GHz i dont think without the thing crashing
Jay is a certified yapper
Ahh yes those switches on the back of old power supplies! Didn’t know what it was the first time i saw one so i flicked it and needless to say a perfectly good pair of underpants were ruined.
I'd love to see Jay build his own PC case from scratch with someone like Adam Savage
These ifixit adds are legendary 😂
Back in like early 2000s I wanted to quiet my fans down and PSUs all had the old 4-pin molex ketchup and mustard style. I did the 7v mod where you swap the 5v and the grnd to the 12v fans run at 7v. And it was all correct. But I forgot there was a hard drive on that same power chain cuz my friends were there we had to get started playing board games. I turned the machine on and blue smoke blew out the back of the tower. For those that don't understand OHM's law, when you halve the voltage on the same load, you double the current and therefore power draw which melted the plastic housing on the PSU lines. Somehow that PSU still mostly worked afterwards, except that one line.
Thanks Jay 👌👌
FX6? You should buy an FX9. If you ever wanna work out that studio diffusion and get your lighting dialed in hit me up. I work in television and film. We could build you a sick light box above your set and get some proper bounces.
In line with your wish to be able to do more milling etc.. in spite of the vast issues to overcome and handle I do believe that there would be a lot of respect already in place in the community for a product line of J2C cases.
@jayztwocents if you like a good whisky, see if you can find Centennial. It's one of my favourite go-to's.
Great Vid, thanks.
I'm 59 turn 60 this year my oldest daughter is 18 and youngest is 16. 16yo will never leave house shes special needs and cant be on her own at all. But they have been a blessing in my older years
Hope that things are going well for you!
Facing Inward is how you support tech and still love tech.
I couldn't handle dealing with the general public. I only have to deal with Doctors and Nurses from a variety of Hospitals.
Whisky is my spirit animal!
the syil cnc machines are a great affordable price if you want to get into cnc machiining also tormach which is what linus has
Any recommendations for atx cases that are light weighted and no glass? So far the best option I'm aiming at is Fractal north. Thanks ahead!
6:15 I remember that video! Good times (for us, at least, not you in the moment 🤣). I've been subscribed to you for longer than I thought, lol. Doesn't seem like that was 9 years ago.
funny that. I just hit the reset (twice). My youngest was 10yrs.. now less than two weeks :D
I just pitched a question on X, hope to see your thoughts on that one, this is a special one.
Whiskey Jam ! Yes its been a thing in Scotland for Many Many Many years M8...
Did my EVGA tribute with a 3090ti because of your vids. Thought came to me mixing cars/PCs.. new test rating- Tesla's shut down per hour of gaming. Since Intel is coming out with a 400w cpu. I have a 1600p+ psu.....for now. mwahaahaa!
Hear hear on the CNC stuff, but I can only dream of it for now while watching Alex Bank's stuff (ex BitTech, now Praetex Design)
The iFixit ad spots alone are worth these videos.
Have you tried Kavalan wiskey from Taiwan? Very nice.
happy whiskey day dude
i built my 1st computer in 1992 and still have it for my old dos/win3.1 games it is still all original. it is also my only intel build i have ever owned. the specs are 486 dx 50 not dx2/50, 4 megs ram, winchester esdi control card,128meg metropolis esdi hard drive, 512k ati wonder video card, soundblaster 16 sound card. i never figured out who made the motherboard it came as a combo but still works. the only part that has been replaced in the system 2x in 32 years is the 50Mhz crystal
i think its got something to do with the arcitechure of the transisters
where using galium tintrate now witch is suliver indusing lol
Being 5 years older than Jay, I had the same thought about kids at his age. Unfortunately, I have no kids but the thought of having kids leave the house by the time I turned 60 was a hard pass. I would love to see, maybe eventually, Jay do his own custom distro plates with a CNC machine.
PC Club was the bomb!
Being a mechanic isn't that bad. I'm a diesel tech and I still wrench and build stuff after work but I do go through down times where I don't touch a wrench other then work for a while. But I think we all have bad days
PC Club that takes me back
Thanks for featuring mine! I'm the PSU idiot. So much magic smoke came out, I should've gotten three wishes.
I really do miss the RTFM podcasts. I hope you guys are able to eventually bring them back.
Waiting to see if you review the 14900KS 🤣😂 that one I’m really waiting for.
I love bourbon!!
Can you please do a video on what software you use every day and what things you need to do to get windows to stop spying on you.
I'll start - these all are for privacy and to stop windows spying: (all are free!)
1. O&O shutup 10 (also works in 11)
2. Blackbird script (it's for both 10 and 11)
3. Ultimate windows tweaker (you need to get either the version for 10 or 11 depending on what version you are running)
4. Chris Titus' Winutil (very good tweaker to stop spying and more)
This will run O&O as part of it
5. Display driver Uninstaller then Nvicleanstall (stops Nvidia bloat and spying)
I'll edit with site names
Oh a whiskey lover... I knew there was a reason I liked you
Look up the Grizzly G0704 cnc mill conversion project.
lol great cast bro
Get this man his machine shop!!!!
You can't say there's no cables in the motherboards you're talking about (MSI Project zero + Asus BTF). There is only more cables to manage at the rear of the case...It may look cleaner, but there is still a lot of cable management work.
I wonder if the engine bay question was meant like remove the engine and make an engine looking pc in its place. If not, that would be interesting, but also silly due to the sizing. But making a car case would be interesting
This is how I understood the question. No engine, but a PC. But also would prefer to make a case that is a replica of a car with the parts in it.
@@LautaroQ2812 i remember when he had an engine mockup block and started building a pc using it as a case
"Field trip!" Jayz crew is going to Disneyland!
Regarding the "build a PC inside the engine compartment of a car" thing could totally be done for like a stationary car. Meaning, remove the engine, replace it with a PC, the windshield becomes a giant display, steering wheel is replaced with a gaming one, obviously, the seat is...well, the seat... and it'd be a realistic racing sim setup!
Is Whiskey your spirit animal? 😀
hey Jay have you tried Tennessee Legends Distillery whiskey?
Gees Jay beer offer was a nice gesture. I don't follow on Twitter so I didn't know you drink whiskey. So snarky.
Great vid, don't use twitter, but always nice to see some of the YT's I follow are based.
Lol, my first Dual Core system was also a Pentium D - It was also the first ever CPU i ever bought new. Still got it to this day. Got The old 805 oced to 4,38GHz at one time. Good times!
