Awesome explanation and examples! I've heard a lot of people confuse "raise" with "rise". To distinguish the two verbs, I like to say that "RISE" is an action you do to YOURSELF (or an object does by ITSELF - like you rise from your seat, or the sun rises) whereas "RAISE" is something you do to OTHER people or things (you raise children, you raise your eyebrows, etc). "Raise" is transitive and "rise" is intransitive.
