Spirit Airlines is known as America's Worst Airline, so I travelled to the USA with the goal of seeing if this was true or if Spirit has a bad reputation for no reason! After flying Ryanair known as The World's Worst Airline, it will be interesting to see how Spirit Airlines compares!

Our flight was cancelled during to the fact that there weren't enough people booked on that flight to make it profitable for them. As you did - we drove over 3 hours to Detroit (from K-W) for nothing. We ended up driving to Myrtle Beach, but it made our short vacation - even shorter. After the fact - I was reading their reviews and it's supposed to be a common practice with that airline. Never again...
Well how u gonna make money if ur already a budget airline and no one likes even tho they are one of the safest airlines im sure if you had to make a choice you would cancel it to save profits
they are cheap airfares.....but ghetto white trash and their flights are often cancelled or delayed. It's the norm for SPIRIT and FRONTIER. If you have a very high tolerance level, and are not on a time schedule, then SPRIT and FRONTIER doesn't disappoint on a regular basis. As for me..... yep... I like to have a high confidence level that the airplane is going to be relatively ontime.... I can do without meals and drinks, but I don't want to sit at the gate or on the tarmac just waiting for hours. Safety is first... at least they get that....

I flew spirit once when I was 7, I am now 13. We were visiting my dad while he was on a work trip in Detroit that lasted 6 months. I am from a small town in Northwest Missouri. We drove to Kansas City and got in the air and once we were in the air the pilot went over the speaker and said to expect some turbulence, which was pretty normal. The plane started shaking for a bit and all the sudden the plane stops, and falls like 300 ft and it felt like the craziest roller coaster ever. Eventually the pilot regained control of the plane and we picked back up. During this experience a woman’s phone from 2 rows ahead of me flew through the air into my lap and after I returned it to her. After that the plane was buzzing with commotion and concern but we landed safely from what I remember. There is my spirit flight experience.

I’ve been flying with spirit for 4 years now and I’ve never really had any problems only one minor problem when they turned around 6 minutes in because of the bathroom not working.

I flew Spirit to Disneyland and back. It was a OK airline, but my dad had to pay extra for additional savings. They said it was first class seating. They lied because the first service and there was good just if you pay for additional seating or first class seating and they don’t give you a refund that’s what really made me mad.

I’m thankful I’ve never flown Spirit Airlines. While I love that their economy plus section has good seat pitch and big business class seats (Spirit used to be a full service airline until ’07 and these were their old first class seats), the rest is absolutely ridiculous. They offer low fares then charge you for everything, so much so that you end up paying about the same amount as you would’ve if you chose a full service airline on the same route. Not to mention the regular seats have the worst legroom I’ve seen; I’ll only fly on them, or any regular economy seat, if I suddenly become a contortionist.
I flew Spirit in April and the customer service put us on hold for 2 hrs and then hung up on us. Also, they had like rlly bad seats and dirty tray tables. Not to mention the 2 hour delay bc a flight attendant called in sick literally right before we boarded.
Im never flying again. I had the worst experience with them. The whole spirit terminal at Orlando was in chaos as spirit couldn’t get their stuff together. Overpriced everything and I’ve been flying for years
I’ve flew spirt for over 2 years and never saw why it was so bad. People say the food because you don’t get any but it doesn’t really matter to me. I’ve never had any problems except paying $30 extra to get a checked bag. Only because I’m working at an Urban Air and I am only 16 and trying to money for collage.

@@mrbignatedog_Official wow 1 hour? Prob not a lot of options for what you can watch… you can’t watch a whole movie in an hour + you prob get less time to be able to use the screen cause if takeoff and landing…
Most of the issues I've heard with Spirit involve missed connections and cancelled flights. Since Sprit only runs some routes twice a week and doesn't have interline agreements with any other carriers, a delay or cancellation can mean you're stuck somewhere for several days unless you pay out of pocket to make alternative arrangements.

The padding over the seatbelt on your first flight is actually an airbag. because you have less legroom due to the first class seat, they’re required to have an airbag on your seatbelt to stop you from hitting the seat in front in an emergency. pretty cool actually because the regulation requiring the airbag only actually changes from a couple centimetres. so if it was a few cm back you wouldn’t even need one
They need to add pull loops on seatbelts just like you see on the rides at Disneyland where you test to make sure your seatbelts is fasten tightly.

Spirit is like the bus of the sky in America. Cheap ticket, but additions are all extra by intent. Seats are designed to fit the most people possible. The Detroit hub is also solid (love DTW). Decent airline to get from point A to point B tbh, but not comparable to many other US airlines.
I have no choice but to fly spirit airlines bc both my parents live in the myrtle beach area and that’s the main airline based at their airport. It’s always back home when the problems come. First time it was cancelled altogether and had to be driven down to Charleston to catch a United flight back and the second time coming back home on spirit, it was delayed by like three hours. But fortunately since then (2017 and 2018 respectively) I haven’t had any delays or cancellations flying with them.
Ryanair isn't going to be considered the world's worst airline because of its bad landings.

Having worked in ground operations at the airport for a couple years, its a running joke that no one wants to soil their reputation by working for Spirit, at least from a ground perspective at an International Airport, they leave a lot to be desired.
I flew on spit airlines a lot of times and tbh it wasn’t as bad as people said idk if it was just me and they make flights shorter for an example a flight to Michigan is 2 hours long with JetBlue but with spirit it’s 1 hour and 20 mins nonstop and the JetBlue flight is also non stop

I go to college out of state and regularly fly on Spirit airlines. I only once had a negative experience with them and it nearly led to me missing my flight back home. However, the tickets are super cheap, and it’s decent for the price.

On the way back we had the hardest landing I have ever experienced flying.
Other than that just a complete budget airline with zero frills.

I just recently flew Frontier from Atlanta to Ft. Lauderdale and it was great, plane was so clean and everything went perfectly - with just my one personal item. I gave them an A+. I have been a business traveler for the last 25 years and am a pro traveler, Frontier didn’t have all the bells and whistles of Delta, for example, but the ticket cost more than made up for it. Read the small print before you purchase and follow their rules and you are good to go.
Flew from Pensacola to Ft lauderdale, to Chicago ohare, to Vegas, to Orlando to Pensacola and all on spirit airlines. There were some bad parts tho, from Pensacola to ft lauderdale it was delayed by an hour an from Chicago to Vegas it was DELAYED BY LITTERALLY 8 HOURS, and also the landing on Orlando to Pensacola was rough which was at night
plus, spirit airline actually started as a trucking company
Fun fact: if ur ever going on a budget airline the only conecern u have is TGW check in process is good or the flight is on time or good seats and not the plane crashing that’s because 0 budget airlines have actually had crashes with their airplanes
I flew Spirit Airlines in July 2022 on my way to Orlando. I mean, it wasn't too bad, but I was disappointed that I couldn't have a good rest because I didn't find a seat rest button, and my flight was delayed for a little while because of a storm.
That baggage fee doesn’t apply to Southwest and it’s a budget airline so . . . yeah

There is a strange amount of variation in the plane seating. I just flew on four separate Spirit flights and it seemed like the seating was different in some way on each flight.
I always travel with wizz air and I can tell: flights are smooth, customers are nice and is really tidy

In Australia everyone has flown budget airlines because of JetStar by QANTAS. It’s good although recently through Covid have delayed and cancelled a lot of flights. No entrainment though.

I only flew Spirit from Florida to NC and back and I really like Spirit so far. We only had a next-day delay because of maintenance issues. What is so cool is that we accidentally refunded our tickets and we were offered 1st class seats

Absolutely worst... years back, they allow my carry on for initial flight but in transfer flight insist I pay for the luggage. This year, they CANCELLED my return flight leaving me stranded insisting that I never flew out and also refuse to give refunds even when I gave them hotel, car rental receipts proving I few out. Beware, your tickets may or may not work at the airport.
I flew halfway to New York through Spirit Airlines and honestly it's not bad. As good as a packed flight can get. Staff was nice, food wasn't too bad, and they kept the plane relatively clean. But, it's the few flights that make the reviews bad. But that can be with any commercial airline like Delta which I usually fly. It's the people that make the flight bad most of the time, not the airline.

I had a flight booked last year with them I had 3 emails. Each one telling me I was delayed longer making it now a 7 hour layover. Only good thing was I had no problem getting a refund because I was within 30. Would rather pay a little more. For a better airline

Spirit really isn’t that bad the seats are pretty comfy the trays are big and the aircraft is pretty clean
they have better and safer planes but its the people shortage thats creating problem, just got to encurage people working for Alaska airlines and other airlines that have a fleet of 737 MAX to work for Spirit then the service would be better and then Spirit would eat Alaska Launch.
The first time I ever flew was with Spirit Airlines. I was on my way back to Atlanta from Orlando. But some kind of "mechanical issue" caused the flight to be cancelled. The flight crew were rude as hell to us. They practically blamed me and the other passengers for the cancellation.
And here's the icing on the cake: The only flight they had going to Atlanta was one that would take me to Chicago first. Yes, I had to go to Illinois in order to get to Georgia! Which ironically, was my first trip up North. And the only compensation I received was a lousy seven dollar voucher which I didn't even use. Seven dollars can't even buy a breath of fresh air!
It took me over 16 hours to get home. I decided that I'll never fly Spirit Airlines ever again after that whole incident. Spirit Airlines needs to be flushed down the toilet! 🚽

Eric, what about the flight on Spirit didn’t you like? What was so bad about the flight itself? As far as amenities and seats and so forth that’s a completely different story. A low-cost carrier such as Spirit, should not be compared to a legacy carrier, such as American, Delta or United. Two completely different business models. What makes Spirit good, is it’s people. Friendly, down to earth and outgoing people. And I’m glad you pointed this out. Please keep in mind when you’re talking about a company to include all facts. Spirit, has never had an accident in which loss of life has occurred. Spirit, has a very good safety record.
As a son for a pilot who flies for spirit. It’s not that bad, the air fees are all Bc the tickets are at market price. United gives you free food and water because it’s in the ticket. I personally flew spirit abt 50 times. The only issue I had was the cleaning. Which my dad talked to the pilot and flight attendants.
I didn’t have to pay for the coffee. It was good but I still love delta and southwest. Happy new year to you and Madi

I literally used a cheap way to get onto a spirit plane and it gave me the wrong time so I worked so hard to get to the airport for nothing. It also kept my money so I couldn't switch to another airline. They rescheduled my flight to 3 days later and told me that they overbook all their flights. Spirit really is the worst airline

I flew to Cancun and LA on spirit and it wasn’t that bad seats are uncomfortable but it was safe and clean and the flight attendants were nice sure the food is pricey but it’s not a bad airline

As a budget conscious person I fell once for their seemingly cheaper option. They were cheaper. But here is the thing. Once I factor in the 78 + 99 dollars on two checked bags it was NOT cheaper. The actual flight was ok. However we did notice that the seats were ridiculously cheap.
We have traveled a few times after and every single time we actually save by NOT using Spirit once we consider the bag cost. Once you also consider that the seats are pretty uncomfortable it makes NO sense to use them.

ive never had problems with spirit, but one time i had a flight from jfk to san antonio, and they left our luggage at jfk for 2 days so we had to buy clothes while waiting for them to put our luggage on another flight, then they shipped it to our hotel

@@ericstruk , honestly to get there safe, with minor discomfort, at a reasonable price is not a complaint to me, also no delay for a day or week.....Spirit is an airline that if you want cheap airfare and a safe arrival, this is not a bad deal....it's not like your flying with chicken coops.....

Not only that but according to the itinerary shown in the video, Eric and Madison turned around and flew right back to Detroit from Myrtle Beach, landing in Detroit at 415 PM the same day. So presumably Eric's mom just hung around Detroit for 8 hours waiting to take them back home. All so they could make this RUclips video. I hope Eric's mom had something to keep her occupied the whole day in Detroit.

I once flew to Florida for vacation and I didn’t realize the plane I was on ( which was a pretty nice flight) was Spirit Airlines it was actually comfortable
I fly with spirit a lot and I don't mind any of the inconveniences. Bring your own entertainment (I just watch a movie or two on a tablet) and you're all good. I can fly Spirit and buy literally everything on their menu cheaper than the base cost of most other flights.
I flew on Spirit Airlines about a year ago and had no problems with them. Just don’t come to expect high standards from them.

I actually flew in this airline to and from florida to Massachusetts. Don't really remember too much, but there were a few delays, and I think it was okay. Didn't know it was basically a meme untill I found one on RUclips shorts. Maybe 3/5 i guess, didn't pay for it.
