Hello Ryan and family! Awesome YT videos. I found your channel 2 weeks ago🙂. I just watched the second “equipment” video after I bought almost everything from the first equipment video. (Can be returned. 😌) So, what about resistance bands, assistance bands, jump rope, and ab roller. I plan to start in January... What is realistic for training as a beginner and progressing into advanced? ... Thanks!
In your opinion, I already have a dip stand that I'd like to keep using- should I get a b-bar or basebar? Also, is the b-bar/basebar apropos for someone with smaller hands?
I do still have my weight vest but haven’t been using it regularly. It’s quite bulky and I’m just not entirely happy with it so I’m on the lookout for a slimmer vest. I saw BaseBlocks makes a smaller one. I might get that.
I still have it :) But I’ve been working more on flags and levers. I’ll still use it now and then though. I want to get the full rollout down (legs straight)
would the Elevia be able to be used in a steel I-beam? its about the only place in my house id be able to use it.... none of my door frames seem to hold a pull up bar.... the Elevia seems like a perfect solution, if it works
Hey man, I'm fairly new to your channel. I've seen a few videos and I plan on subscribing right after I finish this comment! I think your videos are great, clear, and informative. I do have a question... how tall are you? You seem pretty tall and if I can achieve a level of fitness like you through bodyweight, I'm going to continue with my calisthenics training. I've recently just come across a plethora of videos and reddit comments explaining that being tall is a huge disadvantage to doing calisthenics and I got a little bummed. I'm 6'6" and about 205lbs. I would love to put on some extra weight of muscle through bodyweight because I don't want to subscribe to a gym ever again and I know how much weights can go for occasionally. Thanks for reading this much.
Are the Elevia (sp) capable of supporting rings? I brought way more than I wanted to while visiting my parents and honestly, if those two pieces could replicate dips+pull-ups while traveling, I'd be super into it
If I had to choose one between those two, it would be the Big Bar because it allows all the same exercises as the BaseBar plus more with the high setting (full range pull ups, skin the cat, back lever, etc.)

Oh my.... I bought a dip station last year after watching your gear vid and I used it quite a lot, but I thought: "How cool would it be, if the bars would be adjustable in height and width..." Althoug I am happy with my dip station, I feel trolled, since you found the perfect dip station, that maybe wasn't available at the time last year... Anyway, great video. It is so versatile and damn, with rings and all the axis of freedom, I can feel how all these tiny muscles get activated...
GREAT VIDEO. It’s weird this is called “Minus The Gym”, when what he’s talking in his gym :) That’s a gym! Even if you’re using a certain wall, that’s your gym. Is the name of the channel sarcasm? If so, I get it.

Those things hang on architraves. There's no code for fixing architraves. They are usually just fixed with a few brads or glued to the plasterboard. I wouldn't use those things.
Yeah, it’ll be more challenging, but the rings are definitely most versatile. IMO, the only drawback of rings is that it can be tough to find a good place to hang them. I had to buy a large I-beam mounting pull up bar just for that purpose. Ended up costing me almost $200.
@@MinusTheGym Thanks for responding. I've just discovered your channel and it looks great. I'm 50. Any tips on getting started? I have rings in my back yard and I just bought cheap parallel bars.
Man... good question. It would have to be rings, as long as I’d have a good place to hang them all year. But I really like having both so I’m glad I don’t have to choose between them 😅
Yes - I’ve seen Simonster do that with wooden rings. But BaseBlocks also released their own aluminum rings that are a carabiner-style design so can hang from a bar using straps or attach directly to the bar. Check it out: www.baseblocks.fit/pages/the-rings
For the longest time I was only doing variations of bodyweight squats and lunges (including plyometric versions, like jump squats) and pistol squats. But then I got the BaseBench and started working on Nordic curls and that made me realize how much work my hamstrings needed, so I recently brought out my old Powerblock dumbbells and now I’m back to doing weighted squats and deadlifts too.
I'd like some disclosure here. Are you sponsored by any of the equipment makers you recommend? Did they give you the equipment for free? That kind of thing.
I receive LOTS of free fitness equipment from various companies. What I've shown in this video is only a small fraction of what I've received. And this has been going on since I hit about 30k subs or so. So yes, virtually everything I've shown on my channel since the early days (aside from my first dip station and doorway pull up bar) have been shipped to me free by manufacturers to try it out as I like. What I do is vet the equipment by trying it out in my workouts for a few weeks and only feature it on the channel if: (1) I want to include it in my regular training and (2) I feel it's worth the price tag they're putting on it. I'm not sponsored in the sense that I get paid to create videos using the equipment. That's never happened and probably never will. However, like all RUclips creators, I join affiliate programs whenever possible. This means people who use my links or discount codes to purchase the equipment are supporting me and my channel because I get a small percentage of the sale. So for example, if you decide the B-Bars look like a great fit for your needs and you buy them with my 10% off code, you save 10% on the normal price and I receive that 10% as a thank you from BaseBlocks for driving the sale. I hope that clarifies it!

In your opinion, I already have a dip stand that I'd like to keep using- should I get a b-bar or basebar? Also, is the b-bar/basebar apropos for someone with smaller hands?
No weight vest?
I do still have my weight vest but haven’t been using it regularly. It’s quite bulky and I’m just not entirely happy with it so I’m on the lookout for a slimmer vest. I saw BaseBlocks makes a smaller one. I might get that.
Is this an infomercial?
Everyone saying it's Jonny sins lmao
What happened to the ab wheel?!
I realize this is 2 years late, but he said in another video that he's 5'10 1/2
@@jameswalker590 thanks for finding that brother.
Are the Elevia (sp) capable of supporting rings? I brought way more than I wanted to while visiting my parents and honestly, if those two pieces could replicate dips+pull-ups while traveling, I'd be super into it
*Updated, emailed the company and they are compatible with rings! Looking forward to trying them out
Brought to you by Brazzers!
Hahahahah love ur vids bro cheers
I never thought doing pull ups in a seated position and eliminating the need for very high pull up bar. Interesting…
What makes bands from Rubberbanditz better than other bands?
Hi there, in your opinion, would I need the base bar and the big bar or just one? If only one which one? Thanks for the content.
If I had to choose one between those two, it would be the Big Bar because it allows all the same exercises as the BaseBar plus more with the high setting (full range pull ups, skin the cat, back lever, etc.)
@@MinusTheGym Thanks a lot. Been watching and rewatching a bunch of your videos.....I'm making the transition from the gym to a calisthenics based routine and your videos have been very helpful. 👍🏾👍🏾
I’d love to know where to get the B bars? Thanks for the vid
www.baseblocks.fit/pages/b-bars Preorder now ships Jan 30
Ngl their products are pricey yet worth the investment. Comparatively to a yearly gym subscription, that You have to drive to and deal with annoying dudebros type.
I have the OG baseblock. I brought them back all the way from Australia. I’m about to invest into the basebench coz them 🍑 needs to stay on point.
Cheers for the review and all the best.
Johnny sins is multi talented for sure😂
Har ek kaam krta h wo😂
Would I be able to put my rings on the B Bars at its highest setting for ring pushups/pike pushups/ring flys etc. or would you recommend getting the Full Size bar instead? Thank you!
Yes but the rings wouldn't be able to go very high
My favourite piece of equipment still remains the sling/ring trainer that I fixate on my door.
It’s calisthenics equipment only.
Gym generally means that has heavy equipment and weights. But here you will not find any fancy things.
@@dipsaha7792 Well I meant it was a “home gym” :) Like look up “calisthenics home gym” on RUclips or Google tell me how many of them are wrong. If they’re all using it wrong, I’m in the majority.
Those things hang on architraves. There's no code for fixing architraves. They are usually just fixed with a few brads or glued to the plasterboard. I wouldn't use those things.
You should do collab with red delta project
I was wondering what Johnny Sins was up to these days
He’s gotta keep in shape for those roles
width adjustable bars seems over-engineered somehow.. 🤷
How long do you think it takes to adjust the height/width on the B-Bars? Thanks
It takes me several minutes. Longer than I’d like to spend mid workout.
1:44 Can you tell me the brand of your shoes please? Thanks
Do you use suspension trainers?
Is pull up bar/ dip bar necessary?. I find i can do the same exercises on rings
I personally like having both options, bars and rings, but rings are versatile enough to replace bars.
Can you just use rings instead of B bars and Base bar?
Yeah, it’ll be more challenging, but the rings are definitely most versatile. IMO, the only drawback of rings is that it can be tough to find a good place to hang them. I had to buy a large I-beam mounting pull up bar just for that purpose. Ended up costing me almost $200.
@@MinusTheGym Thanks for responding. I've just discovered your channel and it looks great. I'm 50. Any tips on getting started? I have rings in my back yard and I just bought cheap parallel bars.
Wait.... This guy is my plumber too ._.
does any1 want to buy my b-bar set i cant use them i buy then new and never used them link me
Have you tried using your rings with your basebar??
what do you think of the Pullup Mate?
Never used it, but it looks great! I hope to try it out someday
If you have one choice, B-Bars or rings?
Man... good question. It would have to be rings, as long as I’d have a good place to hang them all year. But I really like having both so I’m glad I don’t have to choose between them 😅
I think I have seen u on chrome 😂😂
Yes, you got too much equipment!
Rings, is all you need.
Wonder how many at home items you could utilize in place of those pieces of equipment that you think you need...
Can you hang the rings on the b bars?
Yes - I’ve seen Simonster do that with wooden rings. But BaseBlocks also released their own aluminum rings that are a carabiner-style design so can hang from a bar using straps or attach directly to the bar. Check it out: www.baseblocks.fit/pages/the-rings
How do you exercise your legs?
@@MinusTheGym Hey, thanks for answering! Please consider putting this kind of disclaimer in your video descriptions when you talk about equipment (otherwise you will have to keep answering individual randos like me who care about this sort of thing :P ).
Have a good day!
Johnny Sins fitness?
Too much stuff is good.
Too much of one kind of training is not.
Experience and age has taught me to hit things hard, then move onto other things regularly.
