    is it stable?
    for example, if I put a 20-kilo sandbag on the bottom of it can I connect rubber bands and do pulls and push exercises, like standing chest presses with the rubber band horizontally without the bars of this gym starting to slide on the floor and fall down or slide away? then there is a lot one could do if that option can be added!
    thanks for showing us, seems really smart to have it mobile in one's home compared to a Swedish ladder or something that needs to be drilled into the wall of one's living room...
    thanks!!

      @MinusTheGym  Год назад +1

      I haven’t tried weighing it down and doing horizontal band exercises with it. It’s not designed for that, honestly, but I bet with enough weight you could stop it from moving. I don’t know how much weigh that would be, though 🤷🏼‍♂️ And I’m not sure BullBar would recommend doing that.

    I live in an apartment that doesn't really allow for any door frame pull-up bars, and the usual stand alone ones just seem impractical for my space. This product seems perfect, if I'm being honest. It'll definitely have to be one a pick eventually. If the price wasn't so high, I'd grab it now. But I understand that it's a quality product with a lot to offer.

    How are these for ring pull ups and chin ups? Do you prefer this to the Duonamic?

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  Год назад +2

      Hmm. That's a good question. The advantage to the Duonamic is I can put in a suitcase and fly to an airbnb with it - I can't do that with the BullBar. But the BullBar has it beat in most other aspects. The BullBar is more versatile and I trust it more than a door frame. So, I'd say I prefer the BullBar, except when traveling (flying) I'll definitely be using the Duonamic.
      When you hang rings from the BullBar, the height of the rings is a little low, so you're limited to L-sit pull ups and chin ups or bending your legs back, just like the Duonamic in most doorways.

      I can't claim to be an expert on shipping costs, but id imagine a small company shipping a single unit of a fairly large item halfway across the world would be rather expensive. It's not the company's fault at all, that's just how much it costs. Id imagine until they find a UK distributor (fingers crossed) the shipping will remain pretty expensive. It's a shame as it looks like a fantastic bit of kit.

    I ca'n't thank you enough for doing this review. I have downsized to a small one bedroom condo in the Boston area. My bedroom is 12' X 15'. I have a foldable weight bench, and the Bowflex 560's (when they first came out and BF promised me the extension to 100 lbs and reneged.) I would have been stuck with the return shipping which was almost half the price, so I kept them. I watched multiple videos about the first BullBar attempt and it didn't fair well. How are you liking the 2.0 version? I assume you are sponsored by them, but I hope you can give me an honest answer. I respect you opinion. I also looked into the basebar and didn't think it was as good. What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me. I had to retire from being a Physical Therapist due to cancer, yet I still believe in exercising........all the way til the end. 😎 💪

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hey there. My honest opinion is that the BullBar is the best option for those who want a freestanding calisthenics home gym that’s easily portable and can be “tucked away.” If portability isn’t a factor, there may be other good options out there, such as BaseBlocks’ Big Bar Pro. But I’ve been using my BullBar 2.0 consistently for nearly two months now and I’m very impressed with it. This could be the only bar I owned and I’d be able to keep up on my fitness and even make progress in many areas, so I love it. Btw, I’m really sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis, but good on you to keep exercising. Stay positive and maintain that fighting attitude. I truly believe the words “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

    I searched for a review of the BullBar after a petite female calisthenics athlete I follow posted about it, and your video came up. Starting to get serious about upper body but at over 40 and being a short female, the gym isn't intimidating with all the tall muscle men around so considering the BullBar for working at home.

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  2 месяца назад

      Glad you found the video. If it fits in your budget, I highly recommend the BullBar 2.0. Especially for someone shorter. The bar is just under 7’ high, so someone of your stature might find it to be a really ideal height for hanging and working on pull ups. The dips handles and band hooks are a huge bonus too. I personally love it.

    would you recommend this over the "big bar" by base blocks??

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  10 месяцев назад

      I have the original BigBar by BaseBlocks and although it’s good for what it is, the BULLBAR 2.0 is definitely more versatile. BaseBlocks also released a BigBar Pro recently which looks comparable, but it does not fold up like BULLBAR, so I’d say it might be a good option for people who don’t need the compact/portable feature.

      The locking mechanisms on the 2.0 are adjustable. They are threaded so you can turn them to raise/lower them and make them tighter/looser. So if it feels difficult to lock, just loosen them a couple turns and it’ll solve the problem.

    Thank you for reviewing this product, but obviously you are benefiting from sales so one has to take what you say with that in mind.
    For instance you play down the fact that it’s only 6ft 8.5 inches tall - THAT is a big deal as one can clearly see that you can’t extend your legs when you use the pull-up bar. The other factor is that we don’t know if version 2.0 has fixed the problem with the pull-up bar failing, it would have been good if you had researched the problems with version 1.0 (there were a few) & asked the appropriate questions to the company.

    Bit off topic but does greasing the groove make u stronger than training the fatigue method for something like 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  11 месяцев назад

      They’re both effective in my experience. GtG can absolutely make you stronger. In fact, that method was the only way I was able to reach 21 pull ups in one set (my best PR about 3-4 years ago). Pavel is a huge advocate of GtG too. It balances the training variables by being low intensity yet high volume and frequency. The opposite of that - high intensity but low frequency/volume - is also an effective method because the training variables are still balanced. That’s why I’ve also made huge gains in strength by training a movement only twice per week for 3-5 sets but with high intensity (to failure and in a lower rep range).
      Between the training variables of frequency, intensity and volume, you always want at least one of those to be low so you can recover adequately. As long as that’s the case, the method should theoretically work for strength and even hypertrophy if diet is on point.
      So, in a nutshell, both methods are effective and I believe the “better” of the two comes down to the individual’s schedule, preferences and specific goals.

      @@MinusTheGym ahh ok then. I thought gtg was just better for increasing rep numbers and form with some indirect strength and hypertrophy gains too.
      So could i do them both on the same day. I have my higher intensity workouts and since gtg shouldnt fatigue u, couldn't i do both of them on the same days without any compromisation. Im trying to get better to be able to do things like high waist line pullups and planche pushups.
      And also can gtg be done with added weight

    how do you like it vs the Baseblocks Big Bar?

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  Год назад +1

      BullBar beats the original Big Bar, imo. It’s the same height, but BullBar folds down nicely, is easily portable and has dip handles to attach for a variety of other exercises.
      That said, BaseBlocks did release a Big Bar Pro that has parallel bars attached and is 8” taller, but it doesn’t look compact at all. It’s massive. And it’s the same price as the BullBar (actually $50 more at the moment).
      So, don’t get me wrong, I love BaseBlocks, but I think I’d go with BullBar over the original or pro Big Bar, unless the extra height was truly necessary and I didn’t need it to be compact/portable. In that case, Big Bar Pro might be a good option.

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  Год назад +3

      Yeah, I showed it briefly at the end of the exercise section. It’s great for training dips, muscle ups, ring push ups and pretty much everything above the rings. For exercises below the rings, rows are fine, as are L-sit pull ups and chin ups, but any outward exercises like face pulls or reverse flys don’t work because your weight will potentially move the whole BullBar. Hope that helps!

    But: Who wants to do pull-ups everywhere? I just imagine carrying the device with me like a handbag at my constant disposal. For the break, the walk, at the romantic meeting, the pull-up "after". Really funny. 🤣

      The BaseBar Pro is a low/medium height horizontal bar. Not bashing BaseBars, I still have mine and use it, but BULLBAR is totally different equipment. It’s a full size pull up bar and dip station with band hooks and you can hang rings on it. Kind of an all-in-one calisthenics gym.
