I, too, grew up watching Jack on TV. I was 6 or 7 y.o. and would follow along, doing the exercises. My mother thought it was so cute. I'm now 66, in great shape from regular workouts, and free of any and all medications. Jack LaLanne was a great role model and I am grateful for his influence. Keep up the good work!
I am 66 and remember Jack. His show came on in the morning but I remember his show before I started school so I had to be four or five. Kind of funny I chose a fitness career.
@Sicilian eye. That's great. Far too many don't embrace a healthy life style and their senior years are filled with sickness, doctors and medications. Good for you. Guessing you're of Sicilian descent. Me too. Both parents. Siracusa, Sicily.
I'm 72 and was a big Jack Lalane fan. After some trouble, I used Jack's examples to get myself up to 1000 push ups and sit ups every other day while locked up. That core fitness served me well when I got out and led to a life of fitness pursuits. Thanks Jack!
I watched Jack with my Mom in the late 50's. It was my special time with Mom and inspired me to exercise my whole life. I'm now 70 still work out regularly thanks to Jack. All on a little 13 inch black and white TV
He was my hero. I grew up watching him on TV in the morning before school. There's a hotel in Orlando that has a 50s theme. We stayed there for a few nights and its gym was Jack LaLanne themed. It had his tv shows running constantly on the tv and all the equipment was from his era. It even had his coverall suits on display.
@@MinusTheGym You must. The hotel is Cabana Bay in Orlando and the gym is the Jack Lalanne Physical Fitness Studio just like you said in your video. If you google it you can see pictures. The entire hotel is 50s themed.
I watched Jack as a kid in the 60s. He was easy to appreciate. I too am 66 years old, have been training since I was 7, and am very fit in great health with no drugs other than coffee. Jack shared knowledge, but he exemplified wisdom.
My grandfather went to school with Jack LaLanne and was friends with him for a very long time! A class act and a physical specimen. At 58, I watched his television shows as a kid at my grandparent’s house ,growing up in San Francisco . RIP Jack !!
My deepest bow to you for keeping Jack in the memory of the new generations...He has inspired millions...not only for his strenght feats but also for his positive view on life. Jack deserves a movie telling his story and his methods, Thanks again buddy, I will never forget your kindest and wisest words when I was very ill. Peace and Blessings!! 🙂
I remember as a boy, playing sick from school watching Jack Lalanne on tv, working out along with him. He turns to the camera and says you're doing it wrong. I believed he was actually talking to me. It freaked me out. A commercial came on and I turned the channel. I never watched his show again.
Yeah, the dude was a machine. He didn’t stop until the day he died. I heard pneumonia got him, but only because he was stubborn and didn’t go to the doctor. Had he got antibiotics for it he probably would’ve made it past 100.
@@MinusTheGym no doubt. He must have had a lot of healthy mitochondria from his muscle tissue. Heck, even if he had taken NAC he might have pulled through his lung infection. But older people need some extra help against pneumonia related infections, no doubt about it. Take antibiotics when you must. It’s not a big deal. Great channel. Thank you so much.
My mom used to watch him when i was 3-4 yrs..about 1954. His charisma and tv personality was as super as his fitness and physique. great content Here, thank you for your channel.!
Thank you for that tribute. It’s good to know that this generation is looking back for inspiration. Jack was one of my main inspirations that motivated me to pursue a career in health and fitness. Your tribute actually reminded me of that fact, and was very informative as well.
I’m 51 and do my best at keeping fit and healthy. I really just wanted to share with everyone how inspiring it is to see such a range of ages in the comments on this video!
Jack’s feats of strength and endurance are totally insane, he dragged a boat across San Francisco Bay with the rope in his teeth and just kicking, no arm pulls, the guy was totally nuts, I’ve never heard of anyone doing even a couple of his feats
Outstanding! My sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU for keeping alive the name of a true Pioneer in the field of Fitness, and the Fitness Life Style. Jack LaLane was a huge inspiration to millions of People. He is one important reason that at the age of 79, I continue to workout, and maintain a high level of strength and fitness. Again, Thank You for helping us to remember and respect this true Giant in the world of Physical Fitness and Good Health.
Thanks for your generous memorial to Jack LaLanne. I sure do remember him. As a kid I would do calisthenics in front of the B&W television the size of a toaster. I am sorry to say that I stopped exercising for some years in the middle. But I am happy to say that I now work out every day with kettlebells, heavy clubs, maces, and calisthenics. A splendid tribute to a fitness icon. There was no one then that could bring fitness or wholesome eating to the forefront with such vigor or enthusiasm that Jack brought to the table. He was a star then and today would be no different. RIP Jack. You are missed.
I met Jack at his home in southern CA late in his lfe. He told me, I have 3 pieces of advice, build muscle, build muscle, build muscle. Especially as you get older.
I watched his TV show as a kid. Inspired me to live a life of health. He also promoted good nutrition on his show. Nice tribute! to an inspirational man and legendary icon of fitness. He would not like seeing what youth today are consuming and how sedentary they've become . . .
I watched Jack growing up as well. He inspired me to be healthier and fit. Thank you for sharing his story. Jack was a legend. I met his grandson who owns a CrossFit gym. I didn't get to meet Jack personally but I will be forever grateful. I am 66 and a Trainer now 😊
I actually was fortunate to know of Jack Lalanne as a kid through my grandmother. My grandmother was a MASSIVE Jack Lalanne fan and used to watch him when she came here from Puerto Rico. She would tell me how she would do the exercises he would do via television. And she definitely got the juicer would did make her healthier until she had to go. Jack Lalanne was an amazing human being!
Don't forget Charles Atlas his Dynamic Tension exercises got me hooked on fitness at a early age. I remember Jack LaLanne show when I was 4 years old. His show came on every weekday morning. Jack LaLanne is the true definition of nobility. Not the billionaire class, not European aristocrats, not the corporate chiefs, not politicians, etcetera. True nobility only comes from the example one sets. By the way, if his wife had not pushed him into going to the emergency room for an ingrown toenail, where the hospital infected him with staph, he'd probably still be alive today. Well, maybe! I was a kid in the 70's and had heard of Jack, but I never saw his show. I probably saw a juicer commercial here and there, but not his show. Yes of course. My Mom was an advocate of his. Firstly, this is the first video I've seen from you and this was great! I always have been interested in the history of fitness, and this video was very informative. Thank you for this video! Secondly, I'm 23 years old and I have never heard of Jack, and I would think not many of my comrades have either. Although I should say that I am not american, so it also could be a cultural thing since I doubt Jack's program was ever aired here in Finland. But I must say, it was great hearing about Jack and also about your channel - all the best to you!
Thank you. Great, plain, down home, ordinary, rolled-gold wisdom and knowldege! The reason 'calisthenics' is so effective, and powerful, is because the entire body is called to action for the various movements. Accordingly, the nervous system is stimulated, and grows and expands, and as JL demonsrated, it has remarkable effects. Indeed, just look at any competitive callisthenic exponent, and their muscles look like that of an advanced body builder...sans weights?!
Yes, Jack LaLanne was my earliest physical fitness influence. I remember my grandmother always watching him and trying to follow along on some of his exercises. I read one of his books when I started working out seriously as a teenager and making smoothies with a blender, though I don't think they were called smoothies back then. I tried adding wheat germ and other "strange" ingredients Jack recommended. He was inspirational to the end.
I know who Jack Lalanne is! Used to see his infomercials when I was a kid in the 90s. And I remember his birthday feats. Thanks so much for this lovely tribute to him. (And thanks to my brother for sending me this link!) ❤🎉
Jack was one of only two heros I've ever had (the other was my father), I actually use to exercise to Jack's show with my mother when I was just a toddler.
I remember his show in the 80s. I didn't really take fitness to heart until i joined the Army in 84 or really until 1990. His show was the first follow along video.
I consider myself a serious athlete. I train twice a day 6-7 days a week, and I'm even on TRT at 36. After hearing about what this man did on his 70th birthday, I now realize Im just a giant pansi. I feel honored to be humbled and now motivated by this great man. Thanks for the video.
Watched as a kid. There are a lot of Jack stories, and he was one of the first modern health fanatics on Venice Beach and was a lifeguard there! His main aerobic exercise was swimming (1 hr/d) which was usual for a body builder. Look for the famous pic of the sun setting over Venice beach dunes with 4 guys in formation, one in backward arch on bottom and the 3 other on each others shoulders on the first. One of them is Jack and another was Bill Pearl. Word is that Mark Wallberg is working on a LaLanne movie.

Just found your chanel! Keep up the good work
Thanks!
I remember seeing Jack LaLane on TV when I was a kid in the early 60's. The clip at 6 minutes is just like what I remember.
What a total stud Jack was!!! Awesome video 🎉🎉🎉
If anyone deserved to live to 100, it was Jack LaLanne 😎👍
I still have my Jack LaLanne juicer! It's 25 yrs old and works like a charm!
Jack was one of only two heros I've ever had (the other was my father), I actually use to exercise to Jack's show with my mother when I was just a toddler.
@ Minus The Gym!! He also invented the jumping Jack!! This guy was Like No Other!!!
Another flipping informative video.
I didn’t know Frank but will get to know.
I'm 27 years old and he was a massive influence along the other greats to me.
Thank You, for a nice shout out....
I didn't forget him. He was my hero, and even more so the older he got.
I had a sort pf vague awareness of Jack, but the more I've learned about him, the more ive come to like him.
