    I've had some problems with juicy vocal chords and when inhaling too quickly getting chocked so I started using the mouth and nose inhalation back a year or so and it's been very helpful.

    Always benefit from your tutorials Victoria. Working on some Police (Sting) vocals. He's got some Reggae stylings to some of his songs. Enjoying the "work in progress" and had to drop down a half step on some. Always wish I didn't need to. It amazes me how some songs I need that half step down, and others I don't.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад

      1/2 step can make all the difference in the world and most people in the audience will not recognize the key change. I often recommend a lower key in training and then raising the key if and when more comfortable.

    I had severe childhood asthma and for the longest time had difficulty breathing through my nose (singing or otherwise).
    The notion of using the nose breath to open the nasal passages is helpful and one I’ll have to practice with. Thank you for this!

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад +3

      Great! Remember that the nose only breath is for when you have the time in the song to inhale slowly. You can try the combination nose/mouth breath too.

    I sing classical and I prefer the feeling of yawning the inhale while breathing through nose and mouth as I feel the nose inhalation opens the “ mask” , specifically, a space behind the eyes , nose and “ mustache “ area and the mouth inhalation, as you mention, allows you to take in more air ( thereby compressing the lungs more as Lamperti recommended). Also , the mouth part of the inhale relaxes the throat, as you said ( and Monserrat Caballè also recommends

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I find that the nose/mouth inhalation makes a huge difference for classical singers!

    I'm doing very well by using nose breathing. But since I just got this, I do "sniff". Now that I've heard you advise against this I need to work on quieting the nasal breath.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 года назад +1

      This usually goes away with practice. I have never seen it last in a singer. You may be over-breathing. If you feel lightheaded, just stop for a few minutes. Make sure to watch my other videos on breathing.

      You may just feel a bit "rusty". You can always practice humming. That is quiet and shouldn't attract attention.

      You don't need to do that. It is just a suggestion if you are singing classical, like opera.
