Been using it for about 3 months now, getting the app in Mexico was a challenge but once I got it it works fine. In my experience is a bit more accurate than free style, having in account that we only have free style libre, not the 2 or the 3. The best thing about it is that is half the price from free style libre which here in Mexico is getting more expensive by the minute.
I am from the Netherlands, and each one is priced at 65-75euro, same as the freestyle libre2. Whereas in France, you can get a freestyle libre2 for 40euros at any pharmacy. Good for dexcom and freestyle libre to have competition, hopefully this is the start of lowering the price for CGMs.
Thanks for the suggestion of investigating Sibionics CGM. Much to my dismay, the readings are even more inaccurate than those of the Free Style Libre 2; they are consistently 2 mmol lower. Anyone else with the same results?
Important user information: (i) how long does the battery in the sensor last, i.e., how often do you need to change it?, (ii) how much does the sensors cost?, (iii) how does it work to shower with the sensor on, etc.?, (iv) is it possible to export the logged data from the app to a computer, e.g., as a CSV file?
Hi, i am following you and watching your nice videos. But i have a question for you: if you have all these problems with insulins and glucose, why don't you try a ketogenic diet? I have resolved all my problems completely and now I'm free of carbs related pathologic conditions. If you need help I am free to respond
this comes at the right time, since I am deeply disappointed by he freestyle libre 2. The FL2 deviates 25 points to the up when it returns higher values, and 0..15 points when the glucose is low (12 measurements, sensor inserted for 3 days). It seems that the algorithm is inaccurate, not the sensor, but overall, it is not accurate enough to be of any value. Thank you very much
I agree but how long have you tried Libre? If you've only used say 1-3 sensors you may be a bit early to be disappointed. Some sensors are awful but others are stunning and 2 weeks of perfectly accurate readings is a joy and gives your fingerstick fingers time to recover!. I dunno if this variation in sensors (some being great and some awful etc) is due to irregularities in their manufacture but more likely it is just a bad / unlucky site (eg too close to or too far from a tiny blood capillary / in a relatively unvascularised piece of tissue / clot formed around needle etc). If you carry on with Libre for ~4-6 months, you will see this variation between sensors and learn how to deal with it. (If you have already used Libre for this sort of time and it's not for you then fair enough!). There are ways to get around inaccurate sensors without immediately binning them. 1) on the Libre reader (dunno if you can do it on the app) for regular errors (eg if it always reads too low / high because unlucky sensor site / blood clot around sensor etc) just change the range on your reader graph. (Eg if my range is 4-8mmol (say!) but reader always reads 1.2 - 1.4 mmol or so too high, I just change my range up ~1.3mmol to 5.3 - 9.3mmol then, tho the actual readings are still high, they / the graph appears within my normal range. It does mean your reader will show false high values (which messes up your long term stats for endo but other sensors will read low compensating overall long term averages) but at least I can see from the graph if I am in my normal range without having to keep mentally subtracting / adding 1.3 to each reading etc). 2) you can always do fingersticks alongside the Libre (defeats the point I know but often you find (for example once the clot around the filament dissolves) over a few days, the sensor goes back to being accurate so can be used for the rest of its life with good readings). 3) In the UK at least, if a sensor is poor, take several photos of its readings and trend versus your fingerstick values (when trend is flat) and send them to Abbott (online) who usually replace bad sensors free of charge. 4) If you have an iphone get the Shuggah app. Much better than the Libre 2 app in my opinion and much better algorithm I feel, as used alongside the Libre reader and fingersticks, it appears (for me) to always be closer to my fingerstick result. However even better than that, you can calibrate your sensor in the app (single or multiple values) if it is reading badly. Usually I just use the default "sensor algorithm" option in Shuggah which works great and as I mentioned is usually better then the Libre reader but for inaccurate sensors then switching on calibration is great. The calibration options mean you can really draw in the accuracy of most sensors and are great to use when you have a poor sensor. (Incidentally, Shuggah also gives coeff variation as mentioned in the video above). (Don't think Shuggah works on Android / other phones but there are other 3rd party apps out there which will ink to Libre so worth looking to see if they allow calibration). I have to say, I try for very tight control (3.9-5mmol/70-90 mg/dl) using Bernstein type diet) and Libre was far too inaccurate / slow for this so I used multiple fingersticks for years. However with Shuggah, I have managed to get some use out of Libre as a helpful adjunct despite the problems with some of the sensors that you mention so worth considering. (As a final point I found Shuggah to be brilliant so multiple thanks to all those who developed both it and xdripiOs if they are reading this - lifesavers, thank you!) Regards
@@rayfostyn first one ever.. point is, that i had to find out whether i have Lada or not. a1C s measuring too high, while everything else is fine. I also have not enough money to be able to afford a sensor every 2 weeks. I cross checked with 8 finger pricks and it confirmed that the sensor is moe or less consistently too high by 17..23 points. From the course I onclude that the pancreas is working fine I still have a question, you probably know the answer: my body fat is low (10%) and i do not have fat tissue on the arm at all. Can it be that if it reaches int the muscle that readings are too high?
@@monnoo8221 Hi. I don't know to be honest but I would think (guess!) that (1) even with no fat, skin is usually at least 0.5cm thick which is length of sensor filament so i doubt if it (the sensor filament/electrode) is fully reaching muscle. (2) I also have very little fat on the back of my arm also but for the above reason still don't think sensor is reaching muscle. (3) if it did reach muscle I would expect it to hurt when the muscle contracts (as muscles move (ie they contract unlike connective tissues) and would pull on the relatively fixed filament?) and (4) don't worry, even if the filament is reaching muscle (which I am guessing not from the above), it should not make the sensor read higher necessarily as tissue fluid glucose equilibrates with plasma glucose whatever tissue you are using. (If anything I would guess muscle will equilibrate faster than less vascular tissue. Muscle might also use up glucose faster but basically my guess is that the sensor is not reaching muscle despite no fat and, even if it is, that is not a cause for specific sensor inaccuracy so don't worry on that score). Interesting that you found your sensor consistently high by 1 - 1.3 mmol (17 - 23mg/dl). I often find sensors read about this much falsely high (just like the example I gave in my first answer!). I think Abbott did have some problems with sensors reading a bit high. Still the answers I gave in first answer should help address this even tho it is irritating when a sensor is not accurate. Just a final thought, if your glucose levels are all fine on fingersticks (I assume this is what you mean when you say your pancreas works well?) and yet your HbA1c is still high, there can be other causes for the raised A1c - google "Causes of false high HbA1c" to see if any of these apply (anaemias / haemoglobinopathies for example among other things can cause this false result...) The above comments are just my overall thoughts in reply to your question. I hope they are of help (but the answers may be wrong despite me trying to be helpful. They are however what I think!). Regards
Good review. Co efficient variation is a nice touch. Can the readings be calibrated on this device? I use libre 2 and think the data points in the app could be hugely improved. Why they removed the last 24 time in range when the libre moved to cgm who knows. Why they dont show the % of TIR in the daily graph who knows. So many oppurtunities to fill in the blank spaces on the screen.
The needle doesn't stay in.. it's a synthetic filament that does which is inside the hollow needle. The needle is only for delivery and as its microfine you don't feel a thing

Was the app in Chinese or English? Some of the comments have said its in Chinese.
Have you heard about the implats at all yet ? I know a few are being tested. The under the skin that are inserted.
Its 14 day sensor and it costs same like Libre 2 in Czech republic (it is country in the middle of Europe and EU member).
Apple is working on a cgm. Could you do a video on that.
Thank you
So cool. I want to try it!!
Thanks for the suggestion of investigating Sibionics CGM.
Much to my dismay, the readings are even more inaccurate than those of the Free Style Libre 2; they are consistently 2 mmol lower.
Anyone else with the same results?
If this ever works with iAPS it'd be worth considering.
Just orderd one. very excited because i have no diabetes but wanna know which foods are spiking my bloodsugar.
But does it communicate with the Omnipod? Most likely not, but still may be good for those that don't need an insulin pump. Appreciate you sharing.
No shipping to USA. Even with sale price, it's $68.50, much more than full price Libre 3. See no point to switch. But thank you for the video.
I have a Q for you Sir, can we swim with this patch? anything you can suggest
Need the Amount of days the product supposed to last. And the Cost of the Product would be nice as well.

this comes at the right time, since I am deeply disappointed by he freestyle libre 2.
From the course I onclude that the pancreas is working fine
I still have a question, you probably know the answer: my body fat is low (10%) and i do not have fat tissue on the arm at all.
Just a final thought, if your glucose levels are all fine on fingersticks (I assume this is what you mean when you say your pancreas works well?) and yet your HbA1c is still high, there can be other causes for the raised A1c - google "Causes of false high HbA1c" to see if any of these apply (anaemias / haemoglobinopathies for example among other things can cause this false result...)
The above comments are just my overall thoughts in reply to your question.
Agreed. They also removed the daily average BG, which I found a very useful metric for how I'm doing
What does co efficient variation mean?
What about the sugar pro watch, that claims to correct your blood sugar with laser treatment
That needle looks enormous! The Dexcom G7 is tiny, plastic, and flexible. This one looks solid and metal.
Does the needle stay in? I thought it would only poke and retract like the tools for traditional glucose measurement.
@@MetalheadAndNerd It stays in and does not retract.
The needle doesn't stay in.. it's a synthetic filament that does which is inside the hollow needle. The needle is only for delivery and as its microfine you don't feel a thing
don't listen to trolls...the need its not staying, its flexible filament that wont get in when its applied. really comfy, nothing to worry about
The needle doesn't stay in, and you don't even feel it when the sensor is being applied
Are there any trials in the US for CGM's? I am not a diabetic but just overweight. I am reducing my COVID weight using Intermittent Gas and OMAD. I would love to join a trial or even pay for a CGM. Can you provide me a recommendation? Thanks Yvonne
I am 1 point away from entering the "pre-diabetes" stage. My last A1C was 5.5. Is there a way for me to get a CGM even though I'm not yet prediabetic or diabetic. I want to track my blood sugar and see what causes it to spike. Do you have any recommendations?
thank you for this review. I'm on the fence about trying one due to the size, accuracy. Or if its too confusing for me to understand.
So, would you say the freestyle libre 3 is the best at being accurate, i have tried the freestyle libre and I'm thinking about the freestyle libre 3 because it's fairly cheap at my local chemist, PS: for a second a really thought that you speak Chinese 😅😅😅
Will the phone app link to my Apple Watch?
Thanks for the video. I want to know how to download the app in the UK. A friend is sending me one for testing from the US as I am pre-diabetic. I cannot find the app in the UK app store. Thank you
FDA approved?
Hello Tom,
Thanks for the review on this new CGM, however following your link only offers a 2% discount.
Did you try Medtrum CGM? They offer it here in Cyprus through the National Health System and I would like a proper review! Thanks🌞
Does Medicare pay for these like they do for Libre?
how much after free trial?
Can it connect directly to an apple watch cellular without a phone and give notifications to caregivers?
Can you wear it anywhere else other than your arm?
I assume we don't have prices yet
i tried to order and got the message that this product cant be sent to my address. :(
The Dexcom G6 CGM has a separate transmitter that sits on top of the sensor. The Dexcom G7 has the transmitter built in... So I ask the question... does this Sibionics device also have the transmitter built in ??
Can it export data to iHealth - or anywhere outside the app?
Thank you for the vids I recently was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. no way on the Chinese cgm I do not trust them.
Is Afrezza effective?
Have you tried swimming laps with it? I have quite a bit of trouble with my G6 not standing up to an honest pool workout
Can you share your info with your endocrinologist and diabetes care team without having to see them personally? (I.e. sending data electronically from your device to their computer)
可以分享,但是需要使用WECHAT 的功能,很多国家不能注册WECHAT
How tall is that needle? Is it longer than the Libre 3? Thanks...As it's from China, one only hopes it doesn't 'leak' a virus into ones system...
Thanks for the video , my 11 years old kid uses freestyle libre 2 and Omnipod dash , is there’s any way to connect them together? As closed loop?
Hi Tom, thnx for your video, I've tried this device and it shows more than 10 points of difference with the finger blood device. Do you know how to calibrate it?
Is it good for 10 or 14 days.
It is good for 14 days.
Thank you and for all you do.
Version 1.4 of the app now has alarm snooze function
What is an automatic insulin pump in the US? I'm new. 😂 I did just pick up my G7
Good day, Tom!
The Dexcom G7 with CamAPS fx will be available when.
when will CamAPS fx be compatible with iOS, and how to communicate.
Hi did you try the glucose watch do you think it work ?
I got one and just put it on and it said warming up then i went back to check and now it says expired ...never buying one again
What is the cost of sibionics CGM ? Does it measure for 14 days?
What happened to the free trial?
Have you tried CareSens Air yet?
FYI in France Libre 2 price is 40euro for everyone withour recipes
Sag, weißt du, was das dann regelmäßig kostet? Ich finde auf der verlinkten Seite keinen Shop oder eine Preisliste. Danke
Did you ever test any watches that check glucose
I've had it on for over a week now, and I have to admit, I'm not impressed. It consistently reads 1-3mmol/l lower than my Dexcom and blood glucose meter. I've used both the Libre 2 and now the Dexcom G6, and I've never had issues with them; they are very accurate. However, this one is simply too imprecise for me to trust. Last night, it said I was at 3 mmol/l when I was actually at 6.5 mmol/l.
i got a feeling Libre 2 its really not accurate, i tried both and Libre was the worse one in the send the variations where very big. but that is me...
@havencat9337 they're not they suck.
Please review the new sinocare ican CGM just saw it recently launched i just want to see reviews first before trying to use it myself type 1 diabetic here as well cheers
