I've had a Grand Seiko GMT for 5 years now, SBGE005, and the dial is just amazing. While it's not the snowflake version, Seiko have said the dial on my JDM version was even more sophisticated to make than the Snowflake. My Grand Seiko is my daily wearer, and I never get sick of the creamy sweeping of the second hand nor the near-perfect accuracy. It's so accurate that I had to measure it in years, not days. Fantastic review and stunning macro footages. The one reason I'd take this over a Rolex or any other high end watch brand is the fact that the technology and craftsmanship put into GS watches simply cannot be replicated by even the best of replica watchmakers. With reps of daytona, subs, royal oaks etc..being very near identical (even down to the weight level) as their genuine counterpart, it always makes me question the authenticity of these watches when I see someone wearing it on the streets. I am also certain it would be the same vice versa.

@footballcoreano The fact that you think a Grand Seiko spring drive movement is inaccurate tells me that you know literally nothing about watches. They're tested at +/- 10 seconds a month. And their finishing is every bit the equal of the Swiss.

Even went as far as to watch the entire lecture about spring drive linked from your how spring drive works video. Two days ago, I pulled the trigger and ordered a Snowflake Spring Drive ref. SBGA211 from Japan. Now I can't even focus on my job properly I'm so excited.
The quality of finish is just superb. When compared to a premium Swiss watch the price is ridiculously cheap - even more so on the used market. I want one.

one aspect that is never mentioned in the reviews is that this watch is silent. No TikTok. This contributes to the sense of peace of the dial and the blue hand that glides smoothly
I was comparing it to a few rolex before buying it few months ago and imo this thing stomps everything they had in stock. Just my opinion but rolex is more of the name than anything else. Very good watches of course but we all know those prices just dont add up to what you get.
This is a beautiful beautiful watch. Although pretty simple in layout it screams "expensive". I can never afford these type of watches but I appreciate the video
I like your channel because I've always had a thing for mechanical watches, ever since I saw my flight instructor wear an Omega Speedmaster Professional back in 1967. I have to assume he wore a .321 "Moonwatch" because I first soled a Cessna in late 1968 and received a .861 Speedmaster as a BD gift in July of 1969 only 10 days after Apollo 11 landed on the Moon. We "space junkies" all know that Buzz Aldrin was the first person to wear a wristwatch on the moon (a .321 Omega Speedmaster). Neil Armstrong was reported to leave his "Speedy" hanging on the LEM's instrument panel for timing purposes because the built-in Bulova clock somehow lost its accuracy when approaching the Moon. I'd like to learn a little more about why Neil Armstrong left his .321 Speedmaster Professional hanging on the LM's instrument panel when Buzz Aldrin wore his first on the Moon. Thus the first "wristwatch" on the moon. As a matter of fact, there were many other clocks, including Bulova's sent to the moon before Apollo 11. Bulova's had a reputation of being the most accurate clocks at the time because of their "tuning forks" time crystals. But no Bulova could have been accepted as a "wristwatch" at the time because NASA had requested multiple wristwatch companies to submit their wristwatch timepieces for testing. Rolex, Omega, Hamilton and a few others submitted to NASA's request for submission of wristwatches. It seems not many other competitors cared to submit their brands. However, a few brands, like Rolex and Omega did. Omega won the contest for heat testing, vibration testing, and crystal testing. The Omega Speedmaster won the contest from only a very few submissions. If any other wristwatch manufacturer had known of the importance of NASA's request, I'm sure more than 50 wristwatch manufacturers would have submitted their wares. But they never bothered. Thus they lost the chance to become the "first watch on the moon". History is now complete.
Magnificent artwork by proud artisans. Far better to focus on the incredible, smooth sweep of the seconds hand over a glorious dial, by far the best of any mechanical timepiece, anywhere. A remarkable amalgamation of traditional watchcraft and science tech. Chapeau!
A power reserve indicator is always beneficial for me, whatever it's on a manual or automatic watch because I always have more than one watch in my rotation.
Agree that GS makes the best dials, but I don’t think the snowflake is their best. Certainly their most iconic, but they have some insanely flashy dials.
I tried this watch on for the first time yesterday and was surprised by just how light it is. Before seeing it in person, I was concerned by lug to lug and height/thickness. After trying it on, I still think it could be slimmer. Not a huge fan of GS cases but dials are obviously next level.
Finally got hands on with some Grand Seiko watches recently and I have to agree the praise is deserved. What they're doing is completely out of this world. This video didn't even mention the hands with separate mirror-polished edges. Nobody else does that, and it's as useful in catching the light as it is beautiful. BTW I don't like the SPRING DRIVE font. Watch manufacturers of the world: if you got something to say, put it in the manual, or on a hang tag. I don' t need to read it on the dial every day.
@@lifesanabyss2727 that's awesome, what do you have? I've got a CW C60 600 mk3 and Steinhart Pepsi atm. Hopefully one day I make it to the bigger leagues too :)

Always love your channel and how you look at quality over brand at times as well. Letting an average person understand that there’s more to it than just brand. Seiko is so underrated. Great micro shot of the dial!
A beautiful watch. The combination of the traditional and the modern, wonderful.
That smooth second hand sweep is one of the most beautiful watch movements in history.
@@David-ud9ju Yes, indeed!.
This guy can tell me I will die of cancer tomorrow and I'll still be happy to hear his voice.
Grand Seiko dials are a thing to behold, they're beautiful, intricate and enticing!
The review is every bit a piece of art as the watch. This is language, wielded with mastery. Much like the artistry of the dial.
The best watch I've owned period
I have owned a GS - not this one - for five years and I still find myself spellbound by the beauty of the dial.
The Grand Seiko Seasons collection has some pretty dope dials too.
I've been watching your GS videos as well as other's like Teddy and Jenni for a while now. Even went as far as to watch the entire lecture about spring drive linked from your how spring drive works video. Two days ago, I pulled the trigger and ordered a Snowflake Spring Drive ref. SBGA211 from Japan. Now I can't even focus on my job properly I'm so excited.
If I could use only one word to describe this watch it would be: mesmerizing.
The quality of finish is just superb. When compared to a premium Swiss watch the price is ridiculously cheap - even more so on the used market. I want one.
By far and I do mean, by far, you are the most pleasant channel to follow if you are a watch lover. You nail it every time and the respect for the not obvious brands is very pleasant to notice. Big tumbs up. Glad to subscribe.
one aspect that is never mentioned in the reviews is that this watch is silent. No TikTok. This contributes to the sense of peace of the dial and the blue hand that glides smoothly
Totally agree with your title - this is my favourite Grand Seiko, if I had the cash, I would buy one of these over a Rolex Datejust
I was comparing it to a few rolex before buying it few months ago and imo this thing stomps everything they had in stock. Just my opinion but rolex is more of the name than anything else. Very good watches of course but we all know those prices just dont add up to what you get.
@@stefanfreestylez Yep totally agree!
Honestly I could listen to this gentleman speak all day. His vocabulary, pronunciation, pace are all on point.
This is a beautiful beautiful watch. Although pretty simple in layout it screams "expensive". I can never afford these type of watches but I appreciate the video
Absolutely wonderful narration I have ever experienced beholding ever. Never knew a watch can make me into tears.
I've seen on in person...they and of GSs are fantastic!
It's a good day when watchfinder releases a new video.
Magnificent artwork by proud artisans. Far better to focus on the incredible, smooth sweep of the seconds hand over a glorious dial, by far the best of any mechanical timepiece, anywhere. A remarkable amalgamation of traditional watchcraft and science tech. Chapeau!
that micro shot of the perfectly finished dial makes me orgasm
GS is the best in that price range
the finishing is better than Rolex without a doubt
grand seiko dials blow me away, the spring drive is pretty amazing too. Hopefully ill save my way to one relatively soon.
If they would just remove the darn power reserve, a) its an automatic/spring b) its such an odd placement and unnatractive shape
I own a SBGA029, and when viewing the watch at a shop, I felt the same. But somehow, it grew on me 🤷🏼♀️
A power reserve indicator is always beneficial for me, whatever it's on a manual or automatic watch because I always have more than one watch in my rotation.
I very much enjoy your calm narration. Thank-You. Grand Seiko is one of my grail watches.
Agree that GS makes the best dials, but I don’t think the snowflake is their best. Certainly their most iconic, but they have some insanely flashy dials.
Indeed. Love the SBGA403 with that "Lion Mane" dial, unfortunately at 44.5mm that watch is just too big!
I tried this watch on for the first time yesterday and was surprised by just how light it is. Before seeing it in person, I was concerned by lug to lug and height/thickness. After trying it on, I still think it could be slimmer. Not a huge fan of GS cases but dials are obviously next level.
Almost the perfect watch. I wish it was 38-39 mm, it had micro adjustments, 10 mm thick and power meter on the back.
Exactly the same here.
Yes, agree.
Hate the power reserve!! Really takes away from the dial.
SBGZ003, just what you are looking for.
They made limited edition 39mm snowflakes in solid gold. Exactly the same just smaller in dimensions and made in white, yellow and rose gold IIRC.
The closing words were pure poetry.
Hats off to you good sir.
2:39 how tf do u get a shot like that
the video footage, the choice words...GS should definitely hire you for marketing. this is amazing work mate
Rolex: we make the best watches
Seiko: Hold my beer.
Never thought I’d get goose bumps watching a Seiko video... Well done, sir!
I got a Snowflake a few months ago. Rarely off my wrist.
2:02 I still had a dynamo on my bike light, when I was a child and I am only 16 now, so more people still do get that reference than you might expect.
I now want a Grand Seiko... 😍
This watch is slowly becoming my grail dress watch over the Ti/Blue Aquaterra
Negative Gains I own three GS but the aqua terra will be my next watch next year
@@lifesanabyss2727 that's awesome, what do you have?
I've got a CW C60 600 mk3 and Steinhart Pepsi atm. Hopefully one day I make it to the bigger leagues too :)
Negative Gains a snowflake, SBGN005 and a SBGA229 diver. Love them all
Not one second lost in 3 days. Using 2 radio controlled clocks synchronised together. One Digital and one Analogue. Perfect so far. 🙂☘️🇮🇪
Gorgeous watch but it doesn’t need a power reserve
Thank you so much for this. Two years after I first watched it, it convinced me to make the Snowflake my first big watch purchase. You have such a knack for summing up a watch.
Watching this while waring my own snowflake...its everything he said it is and soooo much more
Grand Seiko and Seiko have the best dials out there, and we still haven't described every other technical achievement and capability they have. Like how the mirror polish is done on the titanium case and the hands + markers.
How refreshing to get a dose of philosophy with a review of a timepiece.
