    Good morning!
    Shane - thank you for testing our power meter and the work put into the preparation of the film. The result of the test surprised us. We see that something went wrong and we are already working on diagnosing the problem. At the moment we are checking all factors that could have influenced the incorrect analysis. We can not yet give a clear answer to the question what has failed, but we do not exclude that you have passed the wrong product for testing. We will check everything and certainly explain the situation. Once again, thank you for reliable analysis and we ensure that we make every effort to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality power meters. They are designed by experts and active athletes for athletes! Therefore, we can not afford such situations and we will certainly explain it thoroughly.
    Dzień dobry!

Nie możemy jeszcze dać jasnej odpowiedzi na pytanie co zawiodło, ale nie wykluczamy, że został Ci przekazany błędny produkt do testów. Sprawdzimy wszystko i z pewnością wyjaśnimy zaistniałą sytuację. Raz jeszcze dziękujemy za rzetelną analizę i zapewniamy, że dokładamy wszelkich starań, aby do naszych klientów trafiały mierniki najwyższej jakości. Another great testing effort! I really like the PIN access control, the app graphics, and the price isn't too bad. I don't like the frequent calibrations and the overall results are not so encouraging. I notice that InPeak responded to your concerns publicly and appear to be on the case so it will be great to hear what they have to say about it, and maybe ship you another crank, should you be interested in going through it all again.
    I can't help thinking that crank-based power meters are a bit of a rip-off though: the cranks are cheap (~$80 US for an Ultegra R8000 left crank in single unit shipments) and the electronics should be pretty straightforward off the shelf components (no FPGAs) - and cheap - so long as ANT+ and BLE are supported. Then all you need is to accurately bond in the strain gauge - also cheap - and provide the software to do the sensing, calibration and interpolation. (I know, hand wavy...) These two items are obviously where the cost and expertise come in. Seems like an excellent opportunity for a bit of open-sourcing. But maybe the setup, calibration & conformance require a physics department or facility able to accurately load and test stresses on the cranks. I wonder how many get sacrificed because the bonding wasn't correct, or the readings are just too far outside of allowed tolerances? Wishing that Shimano could get their act together on this seems to be asking too much, especially at a "reasonable" price.

      DCRainmaker did a good review on the powerpod. I had one a bit ago and they've recently updated the calibration routine. You no longer need to plug it into Isaac before calibration and it's only a 6min ride now. Still need Isaac for intial set up but after that there's no need to use it really if you're only using it outside on the one bike. Can be used on a trainer and with multiple bikes (4 I think). Crazy clever bit of kit and it does seem to give accurate numbers, especially considering the price. I only changed because I picked up a unused gen 2 Stages for silly money and only need a pm on one bike.

    I’m assuming that temperature doesn’t play a factor here. Was it better in the heat vice the cooler indoors? Since it has active temperature compensation , it would be interesting to see if that had anything to do with it going out of calibration.

    That's a shame for this PM being so off. BTW how sure are you that Assioma's are accurate? I saw stages on right crank, maybe you could compare with that as well just to be sure.
    But more I look at graphs more seems like their app is not calibrating well.
    And thanks for listening my comment to break Assioma into UNO. Makes it more clear to compare :).

    • @gplama
      @gplama  5 лет назад +1

      Multiple reference points to be pretty confident with the Assiomas. The Neo 1 which the Quarq (static calibrated) agrees with, Neo 2, Kickr, Direto, etc, all agree with the Assioma. The Stages Right is documented in my video on the L/R video on that unit. Until I have a PowerTap G4 disc hub, they're my go-to out on the road.
