I"m a big fan of the newer Fusion stuff! Been using them on everything from Buick TV spots to handle Voice over and full mix. Usually not always a fan of too much SSL, but lately there stuff sound more smoother now and I am digging the Drive and also The NEW SSL Native X-EQ 2 have as well. They have bene becoming my go to stuff for trialers work as well as soundtrack composing I do here. Great review as always! Appreciated!

Question: Do you think the similar results can be achieved with other multi-band compressors or perhaps some EQ and compression, or do you think this plug-in adds some extra voodoo that makes it an essential add to the toolkit?
I’m curious as well as I use Gullfoss, Soothe2 as well as some of the Izotope things (Neutron 4 and the deharsh plug-in in Izotope). I’ll have to download the demo of Fusion and find out if it does something unique to these other tools. I get a lot of harsh vocals to mix these days lol.
These destroy 15 year old waves plug ins ins that need revamp with new technology. All I can say is SSL needs more presets. Waves has tons and typically i roll through presets, pick closets sound and then tweak. These lack many presets so you must spend much more time dialing in. Please SSL update all with more presets! I bought one. Demoed the rest. They are great but I have not bought more due to lack of presets. If you add more presets you will sell more!

Thanks for the video! HFC is a nice device and easy to use but I would prefer more controls - Oeksound Soothe2 comes to mind.

The only place I heard it make a difference was on the master. It was less muddy, wider, and had a clearer top end without making it harsh.
