I'm so glad that you said that you never have time to do everything that you want to do. How can people get bored or sit and watch tv all day? Even when I was so sick with the flu I became enthralled with your wonderful RUclips videos on painting and pouring paint. Now I've got another activity to keep me busy. Love it, love it, love it. This one I'll share with my friends and family.
Bringing back a lot of childhood memories. And now new combinations of art fields. Over the years I have mastered many fields, and hear you go making my head spin with more possibilities. 🤔😆😉 THANK YOU ---Dave...
AWESOME! I'm so glad that you said cherry blossoms! That is exactly what I was thinking after you pulled the first one after adding silicone! I think you have to try it with two different pink colors! One dark pink and one light. You are my absolute favorite! I follow alot of people but I always watch your videos first! I think you are so interesting and talented with so many different things!
You say you could do this all day.... I could watch you do this all day! LOL! Love this stuff. I have become obsessed. Thank you for sharing this mesmerizing process. I got a book from the library, The Ultimate Guide to Marbling, (I think that's what it's called. Anyway, in that book they use inks, oil paint and watercolors. It's just amazing.
I was pleased to find it at the library because it was really expensive here. I don't know if it's because it's out of print or what. But here's the link... www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Marbling-Handbook-Techniques-Watson-Guptill/dp/0823055752/ref=pd_sbs_14_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=0823055752&pd_rd_r=DASM3FDT3CMC03X6QK4E&pd_rd_w=dc3Qv&pd_rd_wg=1qNf1&psc=1&refRID=DASM3FDT3CMC03X6QK4E
I really wonder if instead of a sheet of paper you would put an object like a mug or anything, what the result would be. Obviously the body of water would have to be deeper.
Hi Annemarie, This is pretty mesmerizing to watch. Do you think this would work with Yupo? Yesterday I used an inkjet printer and printed on Yupo. It worked!! Took a while to dry. Has a cool effect (I used translucent.) I ask because I'm thinking if it sticks, there wouldn't be rippling. (Just a thought.)
I learn so much with your videos, thank you! Quick question.... How do you dry them? Hang them up? Lay them down? I will begin exploring this technique next Thursday, I have been studying the medium for several months and collecting the tools, including the Kappa Carrageenan Powder powder to thicken the water and a pre-treatment for the paper, aluminum sulfate (highly recommended to ensure the paint sticks forever?) I cannot find assistance on how to dry them!! HA! 😃🤗
Thank you so much for sharing your investigations! I wonder if it is possible to thicken water with salt or other more natural approach? I am subscribing!
salt. no that won`t thicken water, you can use the more expensive carrageenan. it`s from seaweed. Carrageenans are a family of natural linear sulfated polysaccharides that are extracted from red edible seaweeds. takes 24 hours to make. it has to sit for 24 hours and is only 2-3 days useable. then it starts to really stink.
Has anyone tried this with 3D objects? I've been looking for a technique to use to marble some small columns/pillars. I tried the spray paint on water dipping and I didn't like the results that much. I may try it again, but I like the look of this technique.
Amazing AnneMarie! Doesn’t it dry all warped on copy paper though? How would you frame it to disguise the warping, put it under glass? Can’t wait to see what you do with them!
Ooooo very labour intensive I can imagine! I have seen some handpainted wallpaper in a mission building in Hilo Hawaii,a very earthquake pronenarea. In the olden days they stopped putting up plaster on the walls because of this and wallpapered directly onto the lathe so instructions were given to never ever lean against the walls!!
I think I love the ones with a little color best. Very interesting designs and so surprised you can change the patterns so easily. I’ve never heard of the “ochsgall” (if that’s the correct spelling.
This technique is called "Ebru", Turkish marbling. Except for the ox gull, the main ingredients used for the traditional ebru are very different than in this video.

I'm using Gouache paint, but confused anyhow to mix it, is it just Oxgall , or Oxgall and water?

no this won`t work on youp because that is waterproof....you need a substance that soaks it up .

Yea, I sort of figured that out today. I tried pouring on Yupo....BIG FAIL! Thanks for answering.
I learn so much with your videos, thank you! Quick question....

I tried this but have not got it to work yet. What is the quantity of wallpaper paste (powder) to water?
your water should be a little thicker than milk but not as thick as cream.
When did u add silicon???

How well does metallic paint work?
like any other paint...♥
Very cool and fun! I wonder if this is how they made wallpaper in the old days Annemarie? Ty!
No I think they really painted and stamped ...some used Leather and embossed the patterns ...can you imagine that!?!
Ooooo very labour intensive I can imagine! Might you tell us what you mean by "silicone"? There's literally hundreds of forms of silicone. Thnks!
Soooooo cool! Where do you get OX gall in the states?
art shop...it`s used with watercolour painting..♥♥♥
What is the torch there for? I love marbling!
The torch is for another type of painting.
♥ Thank you ♥
Can you use silicone oil instead of wallpaper paste? Would it still work?🤗❤
That makes no sense at all...you can`t thicken water with silicone....
♥♥♥ Thank you so much ♥♥♥
Merry Christmas & aHappy New Year to you.
Do you know if an ox-gall + acrylic mix is usable on a fabric that may be washed regularly?
Read about the GAC golden has for fabric....normally the marbling that is done is on silk.
♥♥♥
Thanks Annemarie. I've been experimenting with marbling table linens, if I find a good mix I'll let you know.
