My close friend was framed in this case, suffered for 6 years and got aquitted but got no compansation and no punishment was awarded to the women who filed a false FIR. But all the mental and financial trauma suffered only by the man.
His father closed the only shop he was running from years. Shifted to another town in interior areas. Still a case for maintainace is subjudice.
@Atharva Naik judgement was pronounced in dec. 2019, so i think he lost the window of limitation. Olus he himself is not intrested, so dipressed that he only wants to get out of this, with or without compansation.

My friend framed case against his husband(she was overthinker and in her mind her husband had extra marital affair). She came back to house. She file case of dowry(no doubt she was not opressed for more money) but she paid 20lakh to guy. Her jewellery, her lehenga everything left there… to jo 20 lakh diya hai wo lenge na..: but wo nhi mila.. lastly 10 lakh mila. 9 saal case chala.. bich ne engagement hoke bhi tut gyi bcz lodko waali ki demand thi k dovorce final karo.. or husband unka nhi kar rha tha final. And now she is single

This happened with my brother also. But Thank god! we got justice. We settled matter out of court. But nowhere in court , court was supporting lady side after many hearings. And matter was going on for almost two years reaching no where. So finally they succumbed for settling out of court and getting divorce. Yes , We suffered some loss , but not very severe.finally we escaped from that girl and family. So happy!

Having strong laws for women protection is good. Issue we have in India is that there is no punishment for misuse of Laws. This increases false cases as people are confident they they will get away even when the case is proved to be false. The punishments in 498 A should be heavy even for false case filers (like 3 yrs of jail). This will ensure only genuine cases will be reported and this false case (and extortion) will cease.
I'm a suscriber of Study Glows. Sir, you are really doing a great great job. Noone really cares for men and the abuses of the laws made to protect women. But, thankyou so much for your concern.

In this matter, I have a very important suggestion for those who are going to marry in future. Irrespective of your religion, your first and foremost act is to register your marriage in a court. It will drastically reduce suffering in this case and will act as a barrier in a false dowry case. In case of any misunderstandings, It will help you in getting divorce in a faster way.
