The introduction of zombies into the series was just so fucking perfect. You beat the game, it’s all over, you won, then all of the sudden you find yourself boarded up in a broken down household in the middle of a barren wasteland as hordes of undead German soldiers surround you and proceed to try an rip your face off. It’s so unexpected, so out of the blue, it makes you a million times more terrified. That’s exactly how I felt when I played through this the first time.

I know that basically everyone comes here to rave about the Nacht Der Untoten intro that starts right after the end of the credits, but the best part about this to me comes down to that single statement right after the logo is shown, and before the developers are listed: *"Dedicated to the veterans of World War II who sacrificed their lives for the preservation of liberty."* This line has always hit me so hard for 2 main reasons; - The amount of painstaking work Treyarch put into this game to try and make it one of the most thrilling, violent, and realistic depictions of World War 2 ever presented in a video game at that point (and honestly beyond), then comparing it to the utter monetized garbage they spew out now in order to get the most amount of capital possible in the shortest amount of time from their brainwashed customer base. - The sad unfortunate fact that, within the next 20 or so years (probably even less), those who are the targets of that honorary statement and the stories they carry with them, told or not, will be lost forever to the progression of time. I thank the developers at Treyarch who made this game for giving us this gem in order to show the current and future generations how devastatingly awful this conflict was to the human race, and, for as long as we can, never attempt to forget, or repeat what happened all those years ago - Lest we tarnish the legacy of those who currently sit on the edge of their deathbeds who fought, in MacArthur's own words in the outro, around the globe for the underlying principles of *Freedom, Tolerance, and Justice.* If there is one game that truly deserves to have that type of statement - It's most certainly World at War.
Why WAW is the best WW2 game there is (In terms of campaign) 1.Its realistic (mostly) just need the Flamenwaffer in remaster 2.The epic soundtrack the complete soundtrack from campaign to zombies 3.The 2 important and dealiest fronts Pacific and Eastern 4.Showed the true nature of war Also every single WW2 COD had a tank mission exept vanguard like they could have a tank mission in the pacific front since thats the only fornt with no tank mission in cod
