That was great Mr.Dan and what a perfect song to demo the benders on. I couldn’t agree more about doing it different each time you play it. My goal has always been to make it better each time by adding something different. I played with a local here in North Alabama by the name of Pat McQuiston who was one of the most awesome guitar pickers I’ve ever heard. I don’t know it to be fact but I’ve heard he played some with Merle and was wanted by the band Chicago back in the 70’s. Point being there are great pickers that never see the spot light and man what folks are missing by not hearing them. I haven’t seen him in years but I hope he’s still burning the strings up somewhere. You keep those videos coming because they are part of my journey. Thanks my friend.
Rodney, I couldn't agree more with you regarding there are many awesome pickers that fly under the radar. Many of them just weren't at that right place at the right time to get discovered.
Thank you for these kind words my Brother Rodney;) It is "good" for all of to "recognize" the fact that there are many "unrecognized" players that are "good to great" regarding the end-result of their musical efforts. For "most of us"...we fit into "that" category...unrecognized yet trying to "achieve" the goal of being "good to great"...while all along "comparing" our end-result musical efforts to some of the "GREATEST NAMES" (recognized) and their "musical efforts" to our own. A very "unfair" comparison...and at best...when you finally "learn how" to "play it" like "they did"...all you have "achieved" is "what already has been done"...just another "example" of them. I "understand" the pursuit...because I have done this for many years...but in order to "find the joy" in playing "like someone else"...well...that has "eluded" me. Finding that "place"...were the "obvious influences" are "heard" yet being delivered "uniquely" by the one playing the music...that becomes a much more "satisfying pursuit"...and therefore "worth" my valuable time. Love and prayers to you, your beautiful bride and family...let's journey on my Brother;) Sincerely I am...Dan;)
I'm so stoked that you mentioned Jason a couple of times. I love hearing him play..If y'all EVER end up jamming together I want to come. Jason did a series with Mike McAdoo last year...as much fun as they had together, I have a feeling this would even be more fun. I'm serious, if y'all ever decide to meet up let me know. I can listen...or if the stars line up I get to play with y'all. I don't pretend I'm as good as y'all, but I managed to fool a few people... 😂
Brother Ed...if the day ever happens of which I hope the Good Lord lines it up...let's enjoy the precious time pickin' together & maybe we can talk Brother Jason into too;) My prayers to you, your family and friends...Sincerely I am...Dan;)
Brother MikeB...I've got you covered...I'll do it for you...on guitar...sometime in the next week or so;) My prayers to you, your family and friends...Sincerely I am...Dan;)
Brother MikeB...I recorded the "Steel Guitar Rag" last night...and will go into video rotation here in the next several days or so...complete with the "making" of the loop and a lil' "extra" on the end of the video...thank you again for the request. Sincerely I am...Dan;)
