Sixties pop legend Donovan brings some sunshine to the Guardian studios with an exclusive live performance of his 1966 hit Видеоклипы
Donovan was and still is a legend from the 60's.
I was totally obsessed with this song back when it came out. The rythym, the melody, the key changes. And the lyrics. Hearing it brings that time back. And it's still irresistible.
Donavan is a still a champion. 1966 was so delightful with tunes like this. I drink Mello Yello to go with my burger and curly fries.
Hahaha.. yeah ..
Utterly amazing that he’s retained that beautiful voice of his youth, after so many years. ….. Bravo!
When this came out I thought, "Wow, what a great time to be a teenager. Great songs keep coming out of nowhere from all directions!" "Sunshine Superman" became a classic the moment it was first played!
+John Thomas This song reached Billboard's #1 in the United States on September of 1966
Yes, I remember. I thought, "Wow, this is as good as anything The Beatles were capable of!"
Great song. He's such an icon & still performing so well. Thank you!
One of my most favourite songs ever....
This still sounds great. Saw him live twice in Glasgow in the 70s.... just one guy, sitting on a cushion with his guitar and harmonica, enchanting thousands of people.
Loved it. Still do.
Donovan, it is a mind blowing hit, and is still releavant in my eyes.
Best regards from Denmark
One-of-a-kind musician. Great song.
Man, he still got it!
I'm not from the 60's, but this is one of my favorite songs of all time. Can't help but sing along with it when I hear it.
Same here. I hear this song at my job alot. For some reason, its one of my favorite oldies. ;)

A distinctive voice, Great Donovan!
Great song! I'm glad Donovan is still going strong after all these years. He's a Universal Soldier!
wow he still sounds as good as he did years ago
Yes,he's great.
Also my favorite song ever!!! Greetings all the way from Brazil.
Most underrated popular musician of the 1960s.
Voice and guitar only.
Donovan,magic in music.
Masters Still got it 50 years on.
I remember when this came out in 1966 and still never get tired of it.
Donovan is awesome!
Great song. I always loved this song. Thanks for playing it.
Takes me back to the late '60s for sure. Saw him perform this at the Hollywood Bowl in (I think) 1969. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Thanks Donovan!
What a great song Sunshine Superman I was born that years.
Donovan is a major musical artist. I always loved his songs.
Donavan is one of the originals and his music is timeless
Most singers voices deepen with age making it a bit more difficult to sing particular songs that require higher notes, however, it appears that Donovan's voice has held out.
libertarianation1 I agree but you notice he struggles a couple of times the only person I can think of that can handle all their songs 50+ years later is tom jones mind Eric claptons voice has held out quite well
Paul Rodger's voice has held out extraordinarily well too.
@Alex Elliott He'd be great as a radio broadcaster
My first album I ever bought was this one with Donovan. He was the 1st psychedelic 60s singer I ever listened to. “Catch the Wind” was probably one of my all time favorites. A true balladeer.
Season of the Witch for me
The dude was there, done it , wandered back out of woods got the tee shirt and came home. Hat's off bro.
for real
The Sixties were Fantastic time to be alive!😎🤠👍
One of the Coolest People EVER.. I first heard this song sitting in a tent in Ventura Beach Ca. 1966..This was my fav "get a girl in the mood" back in the 1960's.. On his Silver Bike
I met Donavon's son in Sacramento. He was playing in a band with Michael Nesmith's son, Nesmith was in the Monkees. It was quite a night
Still a legend today and forever...
Such a nice vocal melody
Legend.
i have the original single from 1965 a became a fan of Donovan ever since, best wishes Donovan, from peter of KnightMare Fair music on SoundCloud
Dear Donovan, thank you!
wow its like time stood still he still has it give us singers some hope
i could listen to him talking for hours on end
You should look up the great interview he did on Terry Gross Fresh Air on NPR about 10 years ago. It's about the time he released a new album titled Beat Cafe. In the interview Donovan performs a solo version of his Season of the Witch and Hurdy Gurdy Man. He talks about where he got the D7 cord for Season of the Witch [... from Bert Jansch.] It's an historic interview as he mentions the famous Bert Jansch of the Pentangle group from England.
Later the famous Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin plagiarizes and steals Bert Jansch's number Blackwater Side, and Page renames it Black Mountainside.
Thanks
i came here from yahoo news from an e-mail link about guns n roses being inducted into the hall of fame. Well, i saw that Donovan was also inducted, now i didn't know who he was, thought i'd never heard this song, as soon as he started singing the first verse, i i realized i knew the song, my mother used to play it when i was a child. very cool!
Your songs I listen to late at night alone
whilst rolling incredibly hard on pills I decided to listen to this song, this being the first video I found I clicked it. found it in my search history and decided to listen to it again, the uber mellow intro and utterly bare song is bringing me back to writhing in euphoria and sweating like a pig..
what a weird weird weird experience.
Ahahaha
Maintain!
He doesn't smoke. He;s not hooked. Thank you.
going to see him in concert classic song
The cut to another camera & his voice just makes me think "Niiiice".
Amazing how supple his voice was and is!
Donavon. One of the best !
I wish I could ask him what it was like working with Eddie Hoh and what he thought of him in the midst of that album.
Excellent!

Oh, Donovan! How in love with you I was!!!!
I'm guessing that everyone enjoys these later interviews with Donovan. Everyone should look up the great interview he did on Terry Gross's Fresh Air show on NPR about 10 years ago.
Later the famous Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, that was a backing session guitar playing musician for many of Donovan's hits, before Page formed Led Zeppelin, plagiarizes and steals Bert Jansch's number Blackwater Side, and Page renames it Black Mountainside.
I’ve seen clips from that interview, but never found a whole video. Does it exist somewhere on RUclips?
i have to learn thath!
First psycodelic song even 1 year before the Sergeant Pepper. Younger generations should listen to him
❤❤❤
This is the Donavan I met at a film premiere.
wonder-full
We share the same birthday🎁😊
I didn't skip the add so that Donovan could get any money
Siobhan Cawley the guardian would get paid from ads not him
Love you Pt Lincoln Sth Aussie
You ever plan in touring here in the states?
YOU🤩ARE🤩AWESOME!!!!!
That guitar is a Zemaitis maid in England by hand . Donavan had it made for himself . l have never seen one in person . He stills playes great !
Incorrect, the guitar was made by luthier Danny Ferrington, his workshop is in Santa Barbara California. Lot's of big names in music use his guitars.
He is the bloodlines of a middle ages troubadour of England/Scotland.
...and how many holes filled the Albert Hall?.
i think i read that in the newspaper
Glas ..that i see you and hear you..
Que groso el loco

So how was the concert yesterday Mr Leitch?
He says Green Lantern Is mentioned in the song. Not in this version, he isn't. Still great, though.
Still swinging his pants all these years later.
How was he doing LSD#25 in `65? He couldn`t have been straight when he wrote this?
DrivinSouth65 lots of people were doing it then
Stan on top of the mountains
Did he not do the third verse? Superman or Green Lantern...
