I met him when I was having breakfast at a New Jersey Hotel. He was staying there with his wife. What nice people. They kindly took pictures with my wife and me. A really good guy.
I came here because of a dream I just had tonight. It was towards the end of it, I was driving down a hill on a narrow road. I realized it was narrow due to the cars that were jam packed going the other direction. When I got to the bottom, we went over a bridge and came to a wall that had a painting on a white tunnel. That is where the road ended, but the painting looked like the road kept going. My friends were scared to go through the painting. Said we would never return if we did, but I kept going anyway. I drove right throgh the wall and we kept riding on the highway, but I instantly woke up. The dream just ended there. All while that was happening "The Hurdy Gurdy" man was playing in my dream. The whole experience was quite ominous and gave me chills. I'm not a mystic person, but the experience made me think. This song is hauntingly great.
It's so eerie how someone can miss a person they've never met, but goodness Donovan- I find myself thinking of him and his work as often as I think of people I've known a long time. I feel a stronger connection and understanding with him and his work than I do my own mother.

Great looking and sounding guitar with some magical strumming from the Shaman. I used to play Hurdy Gurdy Man in 1969 in south Cali at age 11 on our Heathkit Radio Shack record player that our Dad built. What a blast for me and older brother.
That reversed chorus is awesome. Sounds like he is singing in the Black Lodge. Really cool to see that staple Lynch technique being used to make eerie music.
Forever love Donovan. He is the last of a very rare breed. A breed of writer/dreamer/poet/musician so rare we cant even put a name to it. Those glory days of the 60's are gone, but he's still with us. Its a miracle that he's still standing, period. Let alone still standing strong in his conviction of who he is. Not a huge fan of the eye liner, but you have aged so well. Im just happy to hear anything new you put out. NEVER STOP! :)
Funny to think David Lynch is supporting the "troubadour" Donovan. Who was our romantic icon, with his great ballads in our hearts and thoughts. Wish he would have kept singing tunes as To Try for the Sun, Little Tin Soldier, To Sing for You, Catch the Wind or Universal Soldier. Liked as well his Remember the Alamo, though there's is too Johnny Cash version, which is a good one. But Donovan had répertoire enough to remain hearing and buying him. For me, he was kind of a dreamer, but an interesting and sensitive one. I keep hearing this first Donovan, and am still open to anything else he can create. A poet with a clean and friendly, and clever mind. Nice music, to think and feel. Wish you all the best, dear pal. And thanks so many for your nice company. 🙄😇🙏🆗✔️
I was the only Native girl that grew up in Deep River. I live in Calgary now. My chuashpey is Blue Thunder Clan we Sundance in Pine Ridge. That would be awesome if David and Donovan did an album. I would love to invite everyone to the Peace Gathering in Calgary in 2023 Sometime in July.

A fantastic Donovan/David Lynch mind-meld. Of course they’re perfect collaborators. Donovan has always known who he is and has never given in to the whims of the music industry or the sniping of his detractors. He was and remains a singular voice, and his music carries vivid associations and memories for me. How wonderful to see him still creating, still dreaming.
Funny, I bought a copy of Donovan's Mellow Yellow album today at a great record shop in North Adams MA, got home and listened to side one with my wife. Excited to hear some songs from Donovan I hadn't heard in years, Writer in the Sand especially. I turn on youtube and what do you know? New Donovan, and it is good, cosmic wheels a rollin' across the sky, somehow leading me back to Donovan. I'm cool with that.
This is as great as Season of the Witch or Sunshine Superman or Atlantis! Gives me goosebumps!! So in love with this tune and this obviously mystical noble spirit. Gratitude Donovan!
My journey with Donovan began in the mid sixties, walking along a beautiful beach, transistor radio to my ear, Sunshine Superman playing to sounds of breaking waves and seagulls. Roll forward over half a century, several concerts seen and all records purchased and heard many times. Now we have this! Totally amazing and still mind blowingly great. Donovan, minstrel and guru, poet and mentor, you have guided me through my life's journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
As ethereal as this is, it's also very Earthy, of the Earth. I can feel the living roots. But there is also the water. It is transcendent. This is where hearts go when they go astray. Thank you David and Donavan.❤🌷

Of all the many muscians who've attempted to play the part of a mystic, witch, shaman, or mystery man, Donovan is the only person I've ever seen who truly owns the part. Damn, if only I could get my eye makeup that nice. :)
I’ve been in love with Donovan’s music and spirit for more than 50 years. I like this song, and I appreciate David Lynch’s ability to produce a compelling mood. But for someone who who really owns the shamanic character he performs, please check out the album “Gris-gris” by Dr. John the Night Tripper, 1968.
Really wish he would do some live performances in this vein. These days when he does shows it's always a night of reminiscing and playing old hits, which is always nice but I really crave some mystic vibes and organic psychedelic soul like this from the master.

Donovan X David Lynch...Purely Psychedelic
So happy to see my idol :) still have my records and poster of him
Don't be surprised ok, it's true I don't usually do this. But the pandemic has really tore everything apart leaving lots of people depressed and sad. That's why am pasting my personal email address here via: donovan00125@gmail.com to enable you share your opinions about my songs or send personal message you wish to share with me. Beautiful lyrics and so heart touching.... How do you feels listening to it
wow... i loved donovan's music for so many years... nice to see him and hear him now!
I would say, maybe a bit better.
Yeahmon, he is THE SHAMAN!!!!
Love it.. I remember meeting you Donovan several times in Denmark Street in London! Decades ago!
Happy Birthday, shaman king! Thanks for all the years of magical music
To be ageless and consistently cool.....
As ethereal as this is, it's also very Earthy, of the Earth. I can feel the living roots. But there is also the water. It is transcendent.
This is where hearts go when they go astray. Thank you David and Donavan.❤🌷
Astonishing.
Wow, still in such great voice!
Have loved and listened to you for a decade now, Donny. I'm SO grateful for your existence. Bless your heart.
@Donovan Unfortunately not yet! And that's because I live in Brazil.
It would never have occurred to me that Donovan and David Lynch would collaborate, this is awesome.

@@donovan195 Color me skeptical, but I will say I have loved Donovan's music for decades and was fortunate to see him in concert.

From the “Universal Soldier” to this how wonderful of a trip this has been. Thanks

This is the best thing I’ve heard in ages..
Really wish he would do some live performances in this vein. These days when he does shows it's always a night of reminiscing and playing old hits, which is always nice but I really crave some mystic vibes and organic psychedelic soul like this from the master.
You still got it kid!!!
David Lynch doesn't disappoint 😎

Spooky and trippy. Love it. ✌😊
Looks like Bob got the spiritual help he needed. I’m happy to see his music.
Happy Birtday. Just read about Donovans 75th birtday in our newspaper. Didn`t think about him for the last 40 or more years. Great und unexpected listenable new track!
Oh. I AM surprised to see him after such a long time!
