    There are a few things i would like to share on the Montage, Im still learning but thought i would point a few things out

    I love the M8X. I had a Motif ES years ago and always wanted to get another Yamaha board and I'm very happy with this especially with the included software version. I saw that Roland just gave the Fantom a big update with a Jupiter 8 and SH-101 emulation and im really hoping Yamaha is paying attention and gives us a similar update with a CS-80 emulation. That would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥

      @@smokey5100 No disagreement but the Montage M8x UI does not replicate instruments in the display like the Fantom. Not sure we would want to try and control the CS-80 paddles from a 7” Montage display vs a 27” 5k display on your Mac.

    NO Fan Noise here. I have the Montage M8x.
    The original Kronos, on the other hand, was LOUD!

      @JohnnyADi 9 дней назад

      My Korg Kronos 2 is only audible during boot up, you should dust your fans and get better room temperature and less humidity. Korg Kronos hd1 engine ALONE out shines the montage in terms of professional live use still in 2024 no questions asked. M series uses a f*king stock clavinova power supply lmao as it's power supply. Garbage instrument with 0 2.0 steps above the original.

    That is crazy. There are issues with the Fantom such as unstable polyphony and no time stretching in the sampler, but no fan noise. That said, the sonics of the Fantom are pretty stale, in comparison...maybe that has something to do with it.
    I don't know if you would have weathered any better with Roland, especially with the timing of the "new" EX keyboards. Had you purchased a Fantom, you would have needed to go through the entire update process for the EX Upgrade. Shortly after, your new flagship would drop in value because Roland re-released the same exact hardware...just with everything pre-installed.
    The universe spared you, my friend. My Fantom is worth $500-$1,000 less than it was a week ago, and we are still dealing with some of these same issues from 2019.

      @@PoliPopo That's good. It took about five months to really lock the Fantom down, and about a year before I began to explore a more advanced workflow. Of course it doesn’t affect the sound unless you are recording the audio output of the Montage M via a mic within proximity of your fan which you would never do, correct?@@PoliPopo

    Welcome to the family Poli. I think I said this like over 2 years ago to you when I told you about my Yamaha Montage, and praised you for your extensive knowledge about the Akai. I bet you also appreciate Akais approach to usablitiy and user-friendliness now more than ever, because you know - these worlds are GALAXIES apart.
    Let me tell you, the investment you made is not a waste, I have one myself (the previous montage), and I got a good deal on it too. The Akai 61 is the one I use, because it's the most user friendly of the buch, we get stuff DONE with it. But there's this thing about the Montage - it's one of the most complex and advanced synths ever made, and it will probably go down in history as such. You know, it wasn't made for making a score on, it wasn't really made for a sequencer or a sampler, it's first and foremost one of the most high-end synths you'll ever own.
    But it's a beast, it's complex, it got a lot left to be desired, and yes - it's not for everyone. But give it time. It took me 3 years to appreciate mine, and the build as you know, it's made to last forever. One of the devs where asked how long this one was expected to live, he said - in general 25+ years. So you won't have an instrument thats outdated so fast, it's absolutely freaking legendary when it comes to shaping insane high fidelity sound scapes, so - if you can afford to hang on to it, use it like the main "sound creator" tool, like use it to make amazing sounds you can re-sample with your AKAI's, and you will have the best partnership you could imagine.

      @@joonglegamer9898 the only reason it sounds higher quality is they improved the internal dac. Doesn't compare to ANY vsts at all! Doesn't compare to dedicated daws or akai, doesn't compare to dedicated analog or groove synthesis 3rd wave and doesn't have analog filters. This keyboard is s**t, how is this keyboard so advanced or legendary when the kronos is still a better instrument that's being used off an ancient 20+ year oasys architecture being remixed and dumbed down as the nautilus in 2024. Trash instrument, steal the software plugin and return the synth lmao.

    • @joonglegamer9898
      @joonglegamer9898 9 дней назад

      @@JohnnyADi Well, maybe you're more "pro" than me and can hear and know that. But for me it's also many factors. One big one is that it starts up in 15 seconds instead of 2-3 minutes on the Kronos. The other one is the numerous crashes Kronos have, still - I agree that the Kronos is an amazing instrument.

    • @JohnnyADi
      @JohnnyADi 9 дней назад

      @@joonglegamer9898 my Kronos since like 2018 or 2019 has crashed MAYBE 3 times. So that's fake news. And who cares about startup, has nothing to do with the instruments quality or performance. As long as it boots up it works. I already have a montage and it boots up like 3 seconds faster than my akai mpcx, and I turn my Kronos on 90% more than the montage, because there's nothing the montage can do that the kronos can't. So the fact that a big factor is start up time tells me you have low standards. Youre just coping for a bad instrument. Keyscape sounds better than fmx. The only reason it sounds better on the montage M is because they have new dac chips from Texas instruments over the old akm ones. It's the same thing if I plug my computer into my $1700 interface as a dac and out through my $2000 ferrum oor to my presonus spectre s8's, or my $1500 flux mentor to my $2000 tungsten double sided headphones. And guess what, the sound quality I get is not only better, but I can actually upgrade it. Montage users both old and new are stuck with whats in the instrument.
      Noire makes a better CFX grand than yamaha will EVER put in their synthesizers, and only their highest end digital pianos will have the level of flexibility and sound quality output that my $70 vst and multi thousand dollar audio chain has. The montage M uses a f*king repurposed clavinova power brick as it's Power supply! Open up your montage m yourself! My montage has a beautiful proprietary one that's not only easier to repair but looks absolutely beautiful.

    Hey Poli, cool you hear the fan too. My concern now is will that be a problem down the line far as burn out and replacement. since you said you saw that in the tech book. The board is Great, but the fan sound is annoying if your particular about unwanted phantom sounds in your studio. It's like ounce you hear it you can't unhear it. I guess as long as the music is loud it won't matter. At least I know now that I'm not the only one who hears it. I'm goanna ask some other channels if they hear it too.

    • @PoliPopo
      @PoliPopo  2 месяца назад

      Yeah, I had everything off in the studio, except for the montage. That's the only way I even noticed, but it's definitely there. As far as the life, I'm sure it'll last a lifetime.
      But if that fan stops working,
      That will be no good.

  • @judsonchristudas

    Please don't buy M6 & M7 by watching the demonstrations performed on M8x. M6 & M7 will never sound the same as they don't have Polyphonic Aftertouch. That was clearly a nonsensical decision by yamaha. Synth keys don't have PAT but only on a Hammer action. So stupid.

  • @JohnnyADi
    @JohnnyADi 9 дней назад

    Honest review, isn't worth it for original owners. Just get the plugin and boom your whole instrument is irrelevant. The power supply is a reused clavinova power brick strapped inside for the newer more expensive montage 2.0.
    Noire vst makes a better piano for $70 and is equivalent to yamahas top of the line DEDICATED digital pianos, keyscape is still the best for electric pianos. It needs a fan for its 200x more powerful processor that isn't even being used to its max potential and for the entirely digital useless anx engine that STILL doesn't include analog filters. The ancient Korg Kronos hd1 engine is still better than their awm2 engine, which they didn't even use a dedicated chip for so you can only have 128 user voices STILL split with 128 factory preset voices.
    Has extra lights, stole genos hardware interface, still isn't useful for musicians with other gear because the meris mercuryx and groove synthesis 3rd wave with an original montage and osmose expressive e already makes this synth 100% irrelevant unless you want an all in one simple dumbed down setup for live. Korg Kronos is still better.
