Statically they play worse without Gobert on the floor. You say PJ and DJJ didn’t play good, but that did KAT and ANT do… They didn’t hit shots on offense but were good on their main matchups. Also respect Jaden Hardy. Gonna be our 3rd ball handler and a better version on THJ
I was talking about offensive performances for Mavs and saying PJ and DJJ didn’t play well offensively with both them not shooting well not that they didn’t play good overall and they might play statically better with Gobert on the season but this matchup has been awful for him he became unplayable at the end lol

@@shepheardsounds3342 I wasn’t hating on the Mavs lol I was emphasizing how good Luka and Kyrie were not just scoring but playmaking getting the bigs involved as well and I’m well aware of how good Maxi Kleber is for the Mavs was huge in Clipper series in spacing the floor and knocking down big 3s and playing drop has been so hard to watch for me that’s why I think Gobert has been unplayable the way Luka can manipulate defenses is the best in the league even when they blitz he made them pay
Gobert is unlucky with the dpoy award. Is he as as good a defender as Ben Wallace was? Nowhere near but these are completely different basketball times. Defense oriented bball will produce better defenders then offense oriented bball. Rachel Nicholls raised a valid point: if not Gobert than who? The only guy which comes to my mind is Wemby, great individual stats but overall Spurs defense was not exactly stellar. At the same time Gobert anchors the best regular season defense in the league. It is easy to cook Gobert when we check Jokic game winning stats against him or Doncic potentially series winning stats. But at the same time when you look at the plays Gobert does not make any bad mistakes on defense against these guys. It just so happens poor guy ended up against conservatively speaking 2 of the top 5 offensive players in the league. Or less conservatively speaking, actually 2 THE BEST offensive players in the league right now. And also it is not a secret that a lot of nba media absolutely hate that two unathletic dudes from Europe, one of whom is clearly overweight, are absolutely killing their competition. They will much rather blame Gobert than actually appreciate Jokic or Doncic.
I think him having 4 DPOY definitely hurts how we think about him. I think he has become unplayable in this series, this matchup is just not good for him. From a little bit of a bias perspective I would take AD over him on defense I have watched most of AD’s games and never have seen a team hunt him in the pick and roll like they have done to Gobert. Gobert just isn’t as versatile of a defender. He’s a good rim protector but in this series he’s just getting abused in the paint by the whole Dallas team
@@EverythingSportswithMitchell We are at the stage, when we are actively looking for someone to give this award to, so perhaps take another route - sometimes done in competitions, not only sports competition: not give this award at all with official justification that the league did not find anywone deserving. AD is a good defender, howver his problem is largely beyond his control - his health. He will avoid physical contact if only he can, cannot blame him with his injury history. But at the same time Gobert is also not a physical player. Draymond Green is but Draymond should not be in this league anymore if you ask me. He is a ticking time bomb.
@@SanderusWemby will probably dominate the award soon and AD I thought should have been in the running this year he played 76 games and the Lakers pretty much have no defense without him
