- Velma Season 2 just released to terrible reviews from both critics and fans, and after watching Velma myself it's easy to see why. In this Velma season 2 review I go over all the reasons why Velma is easily the worst show ever made, and why it deserves all the criticism it gets. I also go over the ridiculous amount HBO reportedly paid Mindy Kaling to make a second season of Velma. All in all this was a terrible experience but I hope i made my Velma Season two review entertaining enough for you all to find some joy in this disaster.

The fact it dint had almost no promotion, plus, Max dumped the entire seasson at once, they usally do week realeses, show it dint got a third seasson.

Another reminder, don't even hate watch this show. The more people hate watch this the more it'll be seen as successful, and it might get a third season. It didn't even deserve a first season, but too many people hate watched it and it made money. So don't hate watch this from the official source, sail the seven seas instead

I suspect the only reason this exists is because they had a deal for several seasons, not because it was predicated on the first season doing well.
I know Velma was technically signed on and was green-lit for 2 seasons from the get-go, but if Netflix can greenlight 2 seasons of a good show, Inside Job, and get rid of the second season for tax purposes when it was almost completed, I'm sure HBO could've done the same thing with velma.
But the agenda tho….. you can’t cancel such “gold”.

There reasson to why it got a second seasson is because it was pre aprooved when it was greenligthed. That is standard for animated shows, to make the wait bettew the first 2 seassons be not to long. Very rarely they only do 1 seasson when a show is greenligthed, Invicible and Arcane did that.
That explains why Fox's "Krapopolis" and "Grimsburg" were guaranteed a second/third series before the audience sees a frame/scene from the "edgy/controversial/aimed at the 12-25 age group" TV show. (I don't watch either; I have better things to do with free time, like washing clothes or searching for "Futurama" on the comedy channel.)

No one deserves to do this to themselves, watching this show. I'm not going to be cliché and say that I would not wish this for the people I hate. In fact, if I see them watch Velma, I would be envious of the strength they possess to be able to just stomach this, and be concerned for them afterwards.

A company is only good depending of its leadership. If Disney or HBO for example would have compenent and brave people, who are ready to take risks, than we would have got several new unique stories and worlds to enjoy.
Reason for season 2, according to a video on Ryan Kinel's channel, was contractual obligation. So basically, it needed to be made.

The fact that Fred is constantly being used as a straw man and yet is still the fan favorite character says a lot about how badly it’s written. He’s the only 3 dimensional character, and that certainly isn’t by design
The second season was already made when the first was announced. For most series like this both series 1 and 2 are made in order to make time for a possible 3 season which in this case looks like it won't happen. Animation takes a lot longer than what people are giving it credit for and there is no way a series that looks like this this only took as long as it did from season 1 to push out this many episode, unless they were putting their crew under heavy crunch, WHICH is possible but also doubtful.
It's why telling people not to hatewatch wasn't doing anything and with how little people actually watched the first season (regardless of what headlines said) the show was a dud from day one and with how Neteflix dumped the entire second season? Yeah, they knew it was pointless.
How the f*ck did this actually get a second season?! Everybody hates this show! It was so god-awful that it was panned from every part of the political spectrum.
I only today learned Mindy had kids. God help us.
we all know the show was supposed to be a completely original story with original characters but warner bros said they would only greenlight it if they used already established characters so mindy used scooby-doo characters, i wouldn't be surprised if warner bros wanted her to use scooby-doo characters so it can ruin the franchise so warner bros can make the IP a tax write-off, also, it was greenlit for 2 seasons to begin with

Part of me thinks her hatred against rich people is that she’s surrounded by people more rich and successful than her and she hates that she doesn’t have a mansion with double digit bedrooms in LA.
I heard that Max greenlit two seasons out of the gate. That would be the only reason I'd accept, but I don't know if it's true. Even if they were committed to two season they should have batgirled it from the start. Just pay them off and move one...do better!

This show is still killing the legacy of Scooby-Doo universe itself by using the names and titles of the characters. This series is not worthy of existing and ruining what the original shows, cartoons and movies were given to people. Definitely not worth watching even for fun.
This series was slated for a 2 season before season 1 aired.. They assumed by adding in the Scooby-Doo IP that they'd have a built in audience. This is VERY common in the TV business actually. Companies take risks and this one happened to not pay off.
Does this mean we're going to get two seasons of the Good Times animated "sequel?"
Honest title, honest review, can't ask more from our boi. I am impressed, how S2 exist first and foremost... second is for the dedication on ruin iconic characters, which are good childhood memories for millions of people worldwide. Guess "HBO HQ" is the Villain's Lair after all.
The reason it got a second season is because two seasons were greenlit from the start. That's become a common thing these days in both animated and live action shows. The initial contract will be for two seasons. The second season will be announced usually before the first is out or at the premiere of the first. If season 2 shows higher ratings over season 1 they'll usually go on to greenlight a third season. Now if you see a third season of the show then you know they're nuts.

Simple- stop hate watching.
One upside is that Velma actually received well deserved character development by literally dying.
One thing I hate is there are moments of good art and animation, namely when characters are enduring hallucinations.
It's like hiring a master sculptor and then handing him a bucket of shit to make something. There is talent and it's being wasted.
I saw just some clips and damn it's painful to watch. Talk about the PTSD from season 1.
The reason they didn't write real mysteries is because no one in the writers room is smart enough to know how to write one.

I always found that they are really good at ignoring what their audience wants, and instead does the opposite. And they still scratch their head asking, "Why all the hate?! :o "

The hilarious part in all of this is Velma would be better for everyone without Velma.
Without Velma, her mother wouldn't have lost an eye, would have a writing career, and wouldn't turn to alcoholism.
This would have prevented the killing spree using SCOOB technology, as it wouldn't have ended up in the mines.
Fred would go on to being a nepotism baby given his parents' company.
Norville would go on to having a relationshop with Gigi, and not developing PTSD, stress eating, and drug abuse after shooting someone.
Daphne would have continued her life as the popular girl in school with enough education and know-how to keep from peaking in her 20s. Sure, she would still have to deal with finding her bio parents and getting used as their pawn, but she would also be able to have her adoptive parents help her deal with the trauma afterwards since there wouldn't have been a mass murderer case keeping her adoptive parents away. Also, without the SCOOB project, there would be no watch lying in the mines for Daphne's bio mom to find as part of the plot for season 2.
tl;dr Even in Mindy's self insert power hour all about her making herself the hero, the world would have been better without her.
I actually found out that due to the speed of making animation (long), when they initially green lit the show, it was batched, which is an industry standard for animation. So, while the first one was starting to air, the second one was already in production and by then, it was already too late - contracts were signed, work was being completed and then it comes out and the first season flops. I guess the execs were just like, it's done - the money is spent, just air it.
Some one on the internet explained that an animated show takes a long time to produce. In order for there not to be a 2 year gap between seasons, they had to green light and start producing it almost at the same time that season one was. This isn't so much a second series as a second part of the first one. They probably expected this to be great so thought there it would be a no-brainer to commission it before the first had aired.
Isn't it fairly well-known that most animated shows get given two seasons, so Velma getting a second season just means that HBO already spent the money before the first series's reviews came in and so doesn't want to leave it on the shelf. Put simply: a second season was never 'greenlit', but rather a first *and* second season were originally commissioned. If it gets a *third* season *then* we need to start asking questions.

I tried to watch the first season. Couldn't even make it pass the forst 5 minutes. Usually I'd say give it a chance, but this makes the exception.

Scream 1 2 3 and 4 are the best R rated “Scooby-Doo” type films. They are really good whodunnits and are meta in a good way.
