  • ‪@GeneandRenee‬ - We were staying in Rosarito, Mexico for a few days and decided to do a day trip up to the border town of Tijuana. There was so much to see that that day trip produced a 3-part series on Tijuana. In Tijuana pt. 1 we went to the border wall and learned some interesting facts about the city. In Tijuana pt. 2 we checked out the downtown area and the gorgeous Tijuana Cultural Center. In this final episode on Tijuana we traveled to one of the main tourist shopping areas and ate lunch at the world famous Caesar’s Restaurant where we learned about how the Caesar Salad came to be. You will definitely want to watch all three episodes !
    As always, thank you for joining us on the Journey ! 😎

    Born and raised in San Diego, my parents would take us kids to Tijuana every two weeks for 50 cent haircuts, followed by tortas de lomo and pan dulce. So many fond memories of Tijuana and Mexico. Caesar's is still on my bucket list. Have wonderful Semana Santa and Easter! 😊P.S. Love the background music!

    I meet Mr. Cardini nephew Alex Cardini, he lives in Mexico City. The story of the Caesars Salad goes by one day on a fourth of July Mr Cardini ran out of food and got a number of Hollywood executives and its when Mr Cardini became ingenious and created the salad, I dear friend of mine runs the hotel his name is Armando Avakian he used to go to my birthday parties when I was a lad, our mother's were dear friends, but he never patented the salad, but there's a man that calls it Cardini and relatives that they have restaurants in Miami, Los Angeles and other parts of the US, they continue with the tradition. Amazing video!

    I had Caesar salad made for me and my ex a few years back in Monterey Ca at a really nice and pricey restaurant and the fresh anchovies was the one thing I worried about too but hands down the best Caesar Salad I’ve ever had. The setup and presentation looked exactly the same as in this video except they chopped up the lettuce for us which I preferred over leaving them whole so they probably replicated this one from the original Caesar Salad with the exception of chopping up the lettuce for us.

    Looks fancy but you only get 5 slices of lettuce. How much did that salad cost?

    • @GeneandRenee
      @GeneandRenee  3 месяца назад

      It was definitely fancy and presented well. Kind of like when they make guacamole at your table in Mexican restaurants in the U. S. Don’t remember how much the salad or meal was but considering that it was at a tourist attraction it was comparable to eating at a middle of the road restaurant in the USA. One of those - glad we ate there so we could tell our friends (like you) about the experience. Thanks for joining us on our Journey! Hope you’re having a great week!! 😎
