  • Technology has expanded at such a rate that nearly every aspect of our world has been affected - yet there has been no corresponding expansion of personal happiness. We are depressed, anxious, sleep-deprived and overmedicated. This talk explores the innate technology within us - the "apps" of our mind, body and emotional center that contain the inner-knowledge that can empower the most meaningful areas of our lives.
    BIOGRAPHY
Max Strom teaches personal transformation and yoga worldwide and is known for deeply inspiring and impacting the lives of his students. His methods address the internal, emotional and spiritual aspects of our life and our potential for physical healing. He is the author of "A Life Worth Breathing."

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).

The lack of happiness in our society is not due to increase of technology but due to increased pressures for mostly middle and lower class people to make a living and have time to simply be.

I'd say technology --> increased perceived pressure to own things --> increased pressure to make a living (as you need to earn more to afford those things).

It appears that happiness is spiritual in nature... "The happiness of man is in the fragrance of the love of God. This is the highest pinnacle of attainment in the human world. How preferable to the animal and its hopeless kingdom!" - ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Universal Peace

he says that 1 in 4 women are on antidepressants while the men are not far behind. This would give the listener that women are more depressed than men. Well, according to stats, the suicide rate for men is far higher than for women. This skews the antidepressant usage numbers. This is misinformation based on what is not said. Women at the least are getting help even if it is through medication which is less than ideal

More women are "officialy" depressed because many man dont want to go to a psychiatrist because of the social pressure.
