Thank you CAD and Stuff for uploading this video. I just want to add one tip to your video. To avoid pressing space bar for each point, go to Create Points command setting and change option: prompt for point description, prompt for point elevation and prompt for point names to none or automatic. Thanks to that you can change all points to COGO ones with just one selection.
@@CADandStuff I got it done then, the problem was that points were actually block references in autocad , I had to convert them first to points. Thanks anyways ☺
i hope you reply to me even though its been years since the video was posted. you know when you group the points and you pick all points and press apply then okay. you get the yellow line surrounding your points. my yellow line doesnt show
Invalid selection set usually means that when you draw the selection window over the model, there are no points in it. You said that you are trying to export from a block, which may be the issue: make a back-up copy of the drawing so that if something goes wrong you haven't lost any work, then try exploding the block and see if that makes the points selectable.
@@CADandStuff Okay sir. The drawing itself has a big bunch of memory that when i try to establish surfaces from polylines, my problem is it lags and my program crashes. By the way I am using i5 with 2.8ghz 8gb RAM.
There could be any number of reasons for this. Can you give me more details? Are you saying that when you click on the drawing file to open it (i.e. “select” it), that it’s not working?
The drawings that I use in my videos are not available to send to anyone, sorry. You should be able to follow the tutorial while working on your own drawing. Wayne
I been watching a lot video, this is really help me a lot to understand how to create POINTS from existing dwg. Thanks you Sir

+robbieryuzaki great, glad it was useful for you.
Hello sir
Please
how to make the selection because I select the points but it does not work
error- invalid selection point, importing topo survey data from CAD file. i don't know how to deal with it. I need to calculate cut and fill analysis
When you say importing topo survey data, are you talking about 3D points in an AutoCAD drawing or a survey file in Civil3D?

Thanks for the video but please tell me, is there any other way I could converting them quicker without clicking and click and clicking...?
Hi. If you hold down the Enter key instead of tapping it, the points will be created without loads of key presses. Hope that helps!

I don’t understand your question, sorry. Can you describe what you’re trying to do?
it always says, "invalid selection set", i am trying to export points from a block
it is a topo data

Okay..thanks...i wanna try to establish points so that i can make cross sections. Those data i only have was polylines that has elevations of each.
How big is the drawing, or more precisely, how many points do you think will be in it?
If you have 3D polylines, you could try making a surface from those: using points is not the only way to create a surface in Civil3D
@@CADandStuff Okay sir. The drawing itself has a big bunch of memory that when i try to establish surfaces from polylines, my problem is it lags and my program crashes. By the way I am using i5 with 2.8ghz 8gb RAM.
Thank you very much sir, this help me so much. i dont know the sourece, so i have to manually pick point manually
