RYOBI 18V One+ HP Compact Impact Wrench Review [PSBIW25]

  • A compact impact wrench can be a very appreciated addition to your tool box. This new ‪@RYOBITOOLSUSA‬ 18V One+ HP compact impact wrench fits on the small end of an impact wrench trio. We've already reviewed their Mid-Torque and High-Torque models, which at larger and heavier. This RYOBI model PSBIW25 weighs barely over four pounds and can still break free most lug nuts. We pushed this 18V compact impact wrench to more than 400 ft-lbs of breakaway torque. These should hit the shelves of ‪@HomeDepot‬ in October 2022 for $139. They include a 3-year warranty as well.

Great video, Tim. Enjoyed this one. The visual timer is a great aid as well, love your stuff! Glad to see there's finally a 1/2" compact HP, and HP tools/bundles seem to get some serious discount deals as well from time to time. That said, having a hard time placing where this one belongs in the grand scheme of things. There's some serious compact tools out now that are smaller and would appear to be more powerful.

Well if only you had a well developed ranking chart and a custom dyno that appears to be rather precise to test this tool! I guess we will never know!
My bcs prediction is 225 ft lbs. Lol.

I guess it's for people that want a compact impact wrench and already are on the platform and refuse to invest in any other brand. Which would explain why it's not in a kit. If you don't have ryobi batteries and a charger there is no reason to buy it. Maybe if it was $79 it would make some converts, but at that price you're competing against amazon brands (and losing).

Thanks, appreciate it. I agree, it's not that compact, but it is compared to the other RYOBI impacts. The majority of RYOBI purchasers are already RYOBI owners. That said, it's definitely more compact than the mid-torque. As a mechanic or car enthusiast, I can't imagine this being my choice for a compact impact. However, as a RYOBI fan, this could potentially be the only impact wrench that you need. In fact, I probably should have said that in the video.

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ruclips.net/user/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

Even if it's not the most compact impact wrench, it's nice to see a tool overachieve it's specifications. 400 ft-lbs is nothing to sneeze at.

She already knows money is about to be spent.😂💀 I currently have the mid and high torque impact wrenches, so this will be a nice addition to the set, especially with it being an overachiever. Thanks for another great review, Tim!

Loved the video, great testing as always Tim! I'm excited to see that Ryobi is finally bridging the gap between the 1/2" P262 mid torque and the 3/8" PSBIWO1. I have both and use them in the shop, and can say that while the P262 is very versatile and powerful, it's a little bulky for a mid torque. The PSBIW01 is very small and lightweight, but very low in power comparatively (I'm pretty sure it's because it's likely based directly off the compact impact driver). This new impact wrench seems to be in between both, which is something I've been hoping for for a while. Though, with its 18V battery, it's not going to be anywhere near as compact to fit in smaller spaces like the Milwaukee M12 Stubby.

  • @Tokkets
    @Tokkets Год назад +8

It would be interesting to see the difference in battery performance by starting with the 2ah HP battery, going thru break away tests untill it fails, then swapping to the 4ah HP battery. And when that fails to breakaway swap in the 6ah HP battery. Would be interesting to see what the customer would need to use to get advertised numbers and how much benefit the premium batteries give.

I like the way you test the impact wrench showing it’s strength and weakness with your setup.
I would buy this compact impact wrench and try it on my vehicles after watching your video.
I like the compact size and brushless feature.
Watching this video, looks like it would take off lug nuts torqued from 100-150 ft/lbs.
Also should be able to break free the two bolts on the front end struts, sway bar link nuts and maybe even the axle nut on compacts, sedans and small SUV’s.

Great video as always Tim. I too love the new timer graphic that you've added to your videos.
I wonder if this compact impact tool would have removed that 400 ft/pd nut easier if you were using the 6 ah HP battery?
I just got a few of those 6 ah batteries with the recent Ryobi Days sales at HD so I almost feel like that battery is probably pretty common now among Ryobi tool owners.
It's possible the 6 ah battery could have allowed this tool to go even higher.
Interestingly enough, the 6 ah batteries are so similar in size and weight to the 4 ah batteries, it's my new standard for all my Ryobi tools that might benefit from the higher amperage being available.
Kind of a missed opportunity to see if there was a difference, but I'm sure our friends over at TTC will try both batteries for us (wink wink).

Thanks for the video! I do weekend warrior stuff on my own vehicles and have the P262 impact. Since I’m not doing big stuff it does everything I need it to, but it’s on the bulky side and I’ve been wanting to add a smaller, lighter impact for under the hood stuff, brake jobs, etc. Would you recommend this 1/2 compact over the 3/8” HP compact impact as a “daily driver” impact? That one is lighter/shorter which seems nice but also unlikely to do lug nuts and I like the idea of using one impact on most jobs, not needing the 262 to get me started and finish with the compact. What are your thoughts?

Honestly I’m kind of disappointed. I’ve been thinking that ryobi needs a compact/sub compact impact but it would be a better product if it were closer in size to the dewalt xr atomic and came in 3/8” instead of 1/2” it’s not powerful enough to replace the p262 it might be smaller but if I’m going to go with half inch the p262 fits that purpose better and a compact is better suited for 3/8” plus this isn’t much smaller. It needs to be 33% shorter from anvil tip to the rear. If ryobi puts something out that mimics the Milwaukee and rigid compacts in 3/8 then I’ll be happy. But this is just more needless redundancy
