- Опубликовано: 3 ноя 2021
- Scott sits down with Robb for a hilarious all-over-the-place conversation about the “Among The Living”-era, almost having sex with Kelly Bundy from Married With Children, Scott makes the case for why Exodus should be in the "Big 5", why Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath inspires so much awe, touring with KISS, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Public Enemy, and more, the firing of vocalist Joey Belladonna, the pitfalls that Anthrax fell into, and how he got out of them.

Get Tony Iommi on NFR, Rob! Pick his brain. Ask him questions about when he was starting out and who he was starstruck by.
Good luck on that though would be killer
Ray Gillen was a phenomenal singer. R.I.P.
I saw 1993 anthrax show in São Paulo and 1997 in LA with Pantera at the Palladium. Great interview, about music and life, relationships and Family. Very mature and real to the bone.
I could listen to these two guys talk all night
It's such a joy listen to Scott Ian!!!
Remember myself, been to the Among Tour '87 seeing Anthrax with Testament (their first time in Europe)!!!
Arguably the two most honest and outspoken personalities in metal today, RESPECT! \m/
Great two and a half hours with Scott and Rob. Plenty of funny stories and I do hope that we get a part 3.
😊
So happy to hear Scott @ 33:36 acknowledging his Love for the Dio/Sabb era🤘
I did a 4 hour Halloween DJ set last weekend at my local vinyl shop.
Dead Skin Mask was on there.
Listening in Manchester, UK.
Looking forward to this second half with Scott.
RIP and farewell to Malcolm Dome.
He was a big part of my teenage years, writing for Kerrang!, Metal Hammer etc 🤘
Amazing Need a part 3 for sure 🤘🏽
Great interview!
When I woke up this morning, I thought to myself “it’s been too long since I’ve heard a good butt hair story”, then my general delivers this golden nugget!
Exodus AND Overkill deserve more recognition...THE BIG 6(66) FOREVER...
Overkill is extremely underrated.
I saw Anthrax with Misfits and Life of Agony during 442 tour. Great show.
I love the acknowledgment given to Exodus. Great podcast!
I just gained a whole new respect for Scott Ian, What a good man. Wow.
Been waiting for this. Your podcast is awesome keep it up.
Man the first half and hour of every single chapter is fucking hilarious. Thanks for the stories, it's so entertained listening to you.
Awesome interview! Please do a Part 3 or 4 Rob!
Excellent interview!
Another great episode!!
This one of the best interviews on RUclips hands down! Fuckin awesome Rob.🤘
great convo, enjoyed getting to listen to this. I read Scott's book too really enjoyed it and its cool to hear him actually talk about some of the stories in it
this is a very good interview. Robb you did your research here, you're a good listener - nice job. much love to SI and Thrax.
Clash of the Titans Tour, MSG - NYC! It was insane fun, General Admission. Alice in Chains (facelift) opened. Thank you for everything you do Robb! Excellent interview, legends!
Can’t wait for the sequel part3!!!!!
No Prayer for the Dying, Scott!!!!!!
Great Album,great Tour!!!!
Fuck these are great. Hope we get a part 3!
Totally agree about Exodus! Big 5.
Awesome Conversation Robb!! Dee sinder Part 2 would be great
I miss the 80s all the killer fkn albums came out
I love how Scott describes the past. How excited he is.
I remember those days like it was yesterday. Seeing Metallica for the first time in 84. Seeing Anthrax in 87-88
Great stuff
You gotta get Kirk Hammett, man. That would be so sick!
The maiden album tour was for no prayer for the dying.
As a French metalhead of Scott's generation , i can tell you that Trust's "antisocial was huge in France . It stayed number 1 in the charts for over a year , everyone knew the words off by heart and , i have to admit , the original , to me anyway, is untouchable (see link below!!) . It still felt great to us , the non english speaking rockers , being exposed to the rest of the world as having great angry fucking music too (Bernie's words were always extremely socially minded and political whereas most metal bands at the time were singing about wizards and dragons ). Anyway , sorry for this rather long rant . LOVED it , bring on part 3 ! Et vive Trust , le groupe qui a bercé mon enfance !

Good Morning from Stuttgart, Germany!
Very nice to start a cold November Day with Coffee,Robb and Scott!!!
Keep it up and let the Metal flow!!!
PS: right about the Hair,Robb! But you forgot one place: the ear!!! It's growing like Hell out there!!! ^^
Nice. Wish it was daytime here. I’ve had a hell of a long day, here in America. Instead of starting my day with coffee, I’m sitting at my kitchen table, half drunk, trying to keep my eyes open. Regardless, cheers brother! 🍻
Have a good day. Enjoy the podcast. I prob won’t make it through the whole thing tonight. Gonna catch as much as I can, go to bed & catch the rest of it, tomorrow.
Overkill should be part of the big five.
I am the law! You won't F around no more!!!
Thumbs up Robb for giving that song such respect
Never Say Die is one of my fav Sabbath albums. Hard Road is such a killer song!
I had a VIP pass to meet Anthrax on the Worship Music tour. I bought the passes and show tix MONTHS in advance. Come to find out, a week before, that the day of the show was the same day my wife's daughter, my stepdaughter, was having her baby shower for her first baby/our first grandbaby. While I don't regret making the good dad/grandpa decision, I REALLY wish I could meet Anthrax at some point LOL
Ray Gillan went on to sing for Badlands with Jake E Lee. Glad to see you guys! Thanx \m/
I agree. Exodus should be in the Big 4! Make it the Big 5!
Nah, they should not
ITS FROM... WAIT 4 IT... ANTHRAX LOL OBVIOUSLY LMFAO 🤣😂😭
Bush era Anthrax was amazing. So underrated.
Anthrax Toured with Iron Maiden in 1991 in Europe and a North America Tour in the No Prayer For The Dying Tour supporting Maiden.
hey robb. never met ya but a fan of mh. dime was a buddy from projects era. aesthetic of hate is one of best songs ever written.
So excited for new Machine Head!!
Stage 1: Parties
Stage 2: Clubs
Stage 3: Theaters/halls
Stage 4: Arenas/Amplitheaters
Stage 5: Stadiums
1:04:30 a perfect example of how a rising tide raises all ships.
Stray nose hairs can drive a man nuts...Also, the right side of your body Robb, is the side that your picking hand is on :-D thats also gnarly :-D
I have the same exact booger issue. Mine usually comes out with a good hardy snot rocket. I named him “Clumpy”.
you're hair looks dope dude.!!!
I met Anthrax in London in Heathrow airport in 89. That was a scruffy group & I was more into GNR, etc. but my brother was star struck. He loved thrash & hardcore. Charlie Benante was the most friendly. Danny Spitz was very quiet.
And dont forget about the chef salad growing out of your ears!!! Old age begats mutant hairs.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Scott Ian: Heaviest hand in thrash.
Online Petition for Exodus to be in Big 5 !!! Hell Yeah !!! 👍👍👍
Please interview Mikael Akerfeldt, please!
I crashed the Anthrax dressing room during their tour for Volume 8, just to shake Scott’s hand.
Saw Anthrax with Slayer, Lamb Of God and Obituary for the first time @ Wembley Arena 2018 even though I have been a thrash head since mid 80's and Anthrax destroyed. Wish it had been a 2 hour plus show but it still blew me away! Now to see Exodus & Overkill after seeing all of the best of thrash bands in the past decade!! \M/
Mate since 80s? how come u never went any gigs see these over the years
Living in SA (South Africa) so not many bands visited the shores so I had to go to UK to see bands.
@@greggsonic Ah makes sense at least u have Die Antwoord🤣. I live in Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪. So lucky got to see lot of shows.
@@greggsonic exodus still rip
Live like the old days so Defo go if u can
@@jamesennis8837 Fuck Die Antwoord, they are an embarrassment to SA! They have misrepresented the actual culture of South Africa and their instant fame blew up their useless ego's. I use to see them once a week when I went shopping out doing their groceries and now look what idiots they have become. If you want to understand white rap culture in SA look at Jack Parow , he is The (Real) Answer!
This is my city! Chicago Aragon brawl room and the Metro( Pearl Jam Even flow video filmed there)
When Scott was talking about Black Lodge being released as a single, he mentions Mark Pellington directing, but never mentions Jenna Elfman starring in the video.
Honestly, with everything Scott is saying about exodus, overkill was there maybe even before the rest of the big four bands too, and both overkill and exodus never got the commercial success they deserved, so I would make the argument that overkill is just as worthy
Should be the The Big 6. If you add Exodus I think they should add Testament!!! 😊🎸👍💥🔥👊
my 1st anthrax show the ritz austin tx spreading the disease.i was in army at time. had teeth pulled earlier in the day. was on good painkillers. u do do the math.
exodus for sure is a big part of the scene at that time and testament too imo.
How about Kim Thayil? One of my fave bands.
Thats why the sell Dude Wipes, lol
Yes Robb we have hairs for a reason. For scent and protection.
I'm down with the big 6 to, EXODUS IS KILLER what about testament
That's funny, Robb, cause when I met you guys, I NERDED the fuck out. It was in Ft. Wayne, and I told you my wife told me I wasn't allowed to ask you to sign my man tit
Anselmo amd Hatfield
If would be nice if you could bring Phil Anselmo and sort things out between the you two.
Scott has an insane memory. Did he not drink or do drugs back in the day?
Didn't you listen to the interview? He said he started drinking harder in the nineties.
Ecstasy mellowed everyone out in the late 80s through the 90s, it was all about the rave scene in the UK, I loved all the 80s thrash and punk bands but it was all about peace and love with rave scene, it killed the hardcore scene, took the aggression away in my opinion
Yep mate couldn’t agree more. I lived in Dublin Ireland. I had 14hole doc martins going to anthrax an slayer in sweaty halls back in the day.. then boom 96-00 was Dave Clarke jeff mills billy nasty an wear-house an beach raves. Great times. We were lucky we lived through great era oasis all them good times. Kids today have fuck all. Lockdowns an what?
@@jamesennis8837 I was a skinhead in 80s loved beer ,speed football and fighting ,Gbh ,Exploited, discharge,my rocker mates introducedme to Metallica, Exodus,Anthax, Slayer, took my first pill in 1990 all that aggression just disappeared ,totally lost intrest in metal ,just raved my nuts off for 10 years or so ,92 the summer of love will never happen again, crazy days, got back into the nu metal scene in 2000s, for me Metallica the greatest ever, still listening to those early albums to this day
john bush was/is a badass singer. as is joey lightning strikes twice. not always the case.
Scott was sleeping
Should really be "the big 6", got to include Testament...
Testament are the next generation. "The Legacy" came out in 86, 87 maybe? That's when the others had 2 or 3 albums out yet. And Testament never became that big. They never played the bigger venues on their own. As much as I like their music, they're not really part of the first thrash wave.
152:00
I hate this topic lol. Scott, it doesn't matter how you feel about it. It's record sales. That's it. It has nothing to do with anyone else's band not being influential or kick ass. Why does it matter anyway? It's only in our metal community. It's not like the title is going to do anything for them. Everyone already respects Exodus.
By the way. He's also gone on record saying Killing Is My Business is the best debut of any of them.
Don't you see that he's hoping for another tour with the Big 4 as the Big 5 including Exodus? If Slayer never play again, Exodus would perfectly fit in. And than it's the Big 4 tour again.
@@herbertwest9626 The Big4 tag has nothing to do with that. If Metallica wants to bring out Exodus they will no matter what. A fake tag won't change that either way.
Too much talking over each other.
Come on Rob, I love these but learn the podcast ropes
Fucking autocorrect...Hetfield
Or that one long white hair that shows up on your shoulder overnight
EXODUS
"Headless Cross" and "Tyr" with Tony Martin on Vocals are great Albums, but they should not had released under the name BS!
