And it's still so affordable, this is *the* time to visit. And it's also great to support the economy of a developing country, France has enough tourist money, everyone has seen it, try something different!
Dear foreigners, welcome to Bulgaria, the most beautiful country in Europe ... What a stunning city! There are a lot of facts to fall in love with this beautiful city. I'm gonna come to Plovdiv in Spring for three months! I'm looking forward to meeting magic of the city and get to know these streets in which you can lose yourself easily. Thanks for this beautiful video ❤
This was a fresh new point of view of my home city, thank you! Regarding the hills or tepes as they are called locally - there were originally 9 in total, but 2 were fully excavated for construction over a few hundred years during the ottoman occupation. The 7-th hill Markovo Tepe was made entirely of granite and is used for the square pavement all around the city. Once it was completely excavated, a shopping mall was built in it's place. The next three hills are the big ones you saw from the ruins in the old town and the final 3 are the one you visited and two smaller ones that are on the 2 sides of the Roman theater. Thank you for a cool video :)
@@GeorgeGuerov It doesn't really matter in an English-speaking comment section, as much as we'd like and want that to matter, me and you both know literally nobody really cares here. Also, in order to get enslaved, you first need to be occupied

Next year when you visit Plovdiv again (yes, you will), you definitely have to take a look at the rowing channel (called "Гребна база", and pronounced "Grebna baza"), along with the sports complex and park "Rozarium" next to it. Also, it's a good idea to climb the "Младежки хълм" (pronounced "Mladezki halm" and meaning "Youth's hill") and also take a ride on the kids train located on its south end.
Hey guys, thank you for this wonderful video about my city. The hill on which you were viewing the whole city but you didn't have any information for is actually an old sacred Thracian place with a Church and a fortress. We managed to preserve what was left. It dates back to probably 2 B.C. or maybe 2 A.C.

Thank you for this video! I lived for 15 years in the old town of Plovdiv. I love the city and your video about it. You are wondering where is the 7th hill-some info about it: "Plovdiv sits on seven hills, but the seventh, Markovo Tepe, was destroyed in the early twentieth century and its stone used to pave many of the city's streets."
You guys are amazing! 🥰 This is my hometown! I miss it so much! It's so beautiful! Will be returning next week and just can't wait, it's been 2 years since the last time I've been there. Love all your videos!
@@dabbleandtravel thank you so much!! 😊 I have just subscribed to your channel today and I'm 💯 hooked to your videos! Keep the great job up guys! It's a joy to watch you travel!
plovdiv and sofia have different vibes, plovdiv is quite, hip and pretty laid back, way smaller, but pretty nice, however, the dynamics in Sofia is way different and the plentyfull of options for nightlife. I love Plovdiv, people are very colourful and relaxed. Theres plenty of hip and cool bars and clubs in Sofia, but they are not very obvious. However, Good job for discovering Kapana.
Be careful what you wish for Plovdiv is getting big attention, unless you have real estate to sell and wish to make big money and move out. The californians especially are like locusts and they have only superficial interest in your culture and people, but much interest in your service to them. they will price the locals out of everything.
Hey guys, I just stumbled upon your video in my recommendations and did not regret a second of it! It is crazy how my city looks like from a different point of view :) I got really homesick even though my last visit was just a couple of months ago, also during Easter :D (I've been living abroad for the last 6 years) You've got a subscriber! Keep up the awesome work! P.S: the smallest hill was ruined by a businessman who built a shopping mall on its ruins. At least he named the mall after it: Markovo Tepe...
I highly recommend going to Stara Zagora. It's less than 1hr away from Plovdiv. Stara Zagora is a smaller town, but incredible. It's also part of Trakia and outside the city there are mineral water baths, which is a great resort. And last but not least, there are around 8 parks in the city. You'll love it
You are right, guys, the hills are no longer 7, they are 6. Plovdiv has always been known as the City of the seven hills and therefore compared to Rome. Currently, only six remain, as Markovo Tepe was demolished and a large shopping mall was built in its place.
Thanks a lot for the video! I am a Bulgarian, I am proud of the ancient Bulgarian history and I am glad that it is revealed for Europe as well. Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities, not only in Europe but also in the world. Bulgarian antiquity is associated with the Thracians - the ancestors of the Bulgarians. Almost every Bulgarian city has a Thracian ancient past, then Roman, then Bulgarian. But the people living in these lands, regardless of age, are still the same.
Plovdiv is much better than Sofia, it should have been the capital of Bulgaria. People often go to Sofia or the Black sea resorts but Plovdiv is the definitely the place where you should go in Bulgaria. You can go visit also the Rhodope moutains which are nearby Plovdiv, they are simply unique. ( and Veliko Tarnovo is a special place too)
Dude, the drone shots are everything! If you all haven’t friended Bulgarians to show you all the underground bars and speak easy’s yet, you should! Totally worth it! Plovdiv is the nicest city in Bulgaria. I once left half my heart there. It might still be there. Have to go back to find out! Cheers to both on an epic video and certainly hope you enjoyed thoroughly! Side note, “Kapana,” I’ve been told, is called the trap because of the layout of the few streets within it. They all look alike and are almost like a maze, and as you stumble out of the bars there, it sure feels like one.
The old town is actually located on tree hills. It doesn't look they are three because of the buildings on them. For example the ancient theatre in on one hill and the ancient fortress is on other. So by today we have 6 hills, cus the seventh one is...the stones of the streets you walked on is actually the hill. It was destroyed end user as a stone career. Ps. Thank you for the nice words, you are always welcome again when you want and can ❤️
Another great video! I love how you shot and edit your videos. Great background music, and you two are so cool. Greetings from Plovdiv! There is so much more to see here, but i think you will cover in your next video. Cheers!
Nice video tour of my home town! By the way where you had your beer near the Roman theatre are also 2 university campuses - in the narrow cobbled streets on the way up you can often hear live music as the yellow building on the right hand side is the music academy and further down past the ticket place is where I had my biology lectures when I was studying at Plovdiv University. We sometimes used to go and get a cheeky pint from where you guys sat during the break on a warm day haha!
The old town is situated on 3 of the hills. When you were on top you could see the other 3. The 7th hill was Markovo Tepe which was destroyed and made into pavement for the streets of the city, way back in the 19th and 20th century. Now there's a shopping mall where it used to be.
I watched all of your videos as hey were getting uploaded (nostalgia is increasing by the day). Question - how many times am I going to rewatch them until Australia opens its border and I can go back to Bulgaria next summer???? Thanks for transporting me there for 16min! 💙
The old town is built on three hills. Where the seventh hill was, there is now a shopping center and it is named "Markovo Tepe" / "type" is the Turkish word for hill, but has remained in use until now /
There were originally 7 hills in the past, but through the centuries two of them were demolished for stone and concrete. The one was, where the current Markovo Tepe Mall is ( the hill was called "Markovo Tepe", just like "Nebet Tepe" etc.) and the second one was where the old beer brewery of the current brand "Kamenitsa" was. The hill was also called "Kamenitsa" and currently there is a really cool new restaurant with different beer sorts and dishes made with beer. It is pretty recognizable because they kept the old brewery chimney that is quite high and with green and white stripes. I hope you enjoy your time in my home town and come again some time.

Thank you for this video! I lived for 15 years in the old town of Plovdiv. I love the city and your video about it. You are wondering where is the 7th hill-some info about it:
"Plovdiv sits on seven hills, but the seventh, Markovo Tepe, was destroyed in the early twentieth century and its stone used to pave many of the city's streets."
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video ❤️ I'm from Plovdiv and it made me smile❤️ you're always welcome here ❤️
Oldest city in Europe. Such an amazing place. I love it!
We agree!

I'm proud I'm a Bulgarian or (Българин)in Bulgarian
plovdiv and sofia have different vibes, plovdiv is quite, hip and pretty laid back, way smaller, but pretty nice, however, the dynamics in Sofia is way different and the plentyfull of options for nightlife. I love Plovdiv, people are very colourful and relaxed. Theres plenty of hip and cool bars and clubs in Sofia, but they are not very obvious. However, Good job for discovering Kapana.
I moved from Sofia to Plovdiv 2 months ago.. I love the city!
Amazing!
любов си завъртяла според мен :Д
@@christobalev3246 накарах гаджето да се преместим 😀✌️
Thank you for presenting our city so beautiful. I am happy to live here . Welcome back to Plovdiv:)
Thank you Molly and Matt for sharing this beautiful awesome place thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!
I am a Plovdiv guy ! Thanks for the nice words ! Have fun discoverring more not so famous cities which deserve attention
It is crazy how my city looks like from a different point of view :) I got really homesick even though my last visit was just a couple of months ago, also during Easter :D (I've been living abroad for the last 6 years)
You've got a subscriber! Keep up the awesome work!
P.S: the smallest hill was ruined by a businessman who built a shopping mall on its ruins. At least he named the mall after it: Markovo Tepe...
Aw thank you so much! We really appreciate it! ❤️
Great job showcasing Plovdiv. 👍👍
Thanks guys! xx
Plovdiv is one of Bulgaria's hottest cities so you gotta remember to bring a lot of water :D
Amazing! Thank you for this video!🇧🇬❤🇧🇬
Thank you for watching
I highly recommend going to Stara Zagora. It's less than 1hr away from Plovdiv. Stara Zagora is a smaller town, but incredible. It's also part of Trakia and outside the city there are mineral water baths, which is a great resort. And last but not least, there are around 8 parks in the city. You'll love it
You are right, guys, the hills are no longer 7, they are 6. Plovdiv has always been known as the City of the seven hills and therefore compared to Rome. Currently, only six remain, as Markovo Tepe was demolished and a large shopping mall was built in its place.
Thanks for watching!
Sadly 2 of the 7 hills were removed, I think for construction projects, but don't quote me on that.
One hill, not two.
Well I'm from Plovdiv and I'm glad you liked my hometown so much🇧🇬
Thank you for watching ❤️
That`s why we call it PL❤️VDIV! 😊
Ps. Thank you for the nice words, you are always welcome again when you want and can ❤️
What an amazing City. Loving your explorations!! Hair of the dog at 4pm? A bit late for your medicine!! Haha.
Oh my, 4pm was definitely way too late!!! Thanks for always watching!

Another great video! I love how you shot and edit your videos. Great background music, and you two are so cool.
Greetings from Plovdiv! There is so much more to see here, but i think you will cover in your next video. Cheers!
Tonights video! Thank you so much!
Hi I am from Plovdiv too and this is the best city in Bulgaria so beautiful places.
Hey! ❤️
My Hometown! ❤️ PLOVEdiv! ❤️Thanks for the video, guys!
Thanks for watching!
I watched all of your videos as hey were getting uploaded (nostalgia is increasing by the day). Question - how many times am I going to rewatch them until Australia opens its border and I can go back to Bulgaria next summer????
Thanks for transporting me there for 16min! 💙
Ohhhhhh thank you so much! Fingers crossed you can soon! ❤️
Very nice ❤👌
Thanks for watching!
Cheers!!!love the view
