    There is no name brand sd2snes, it's open source. Seemed to work fine, not sure what the complaint is here. If you wanted an official FXPak Pro you should buy it from the offical retailer.

    It's actually a quality product for the money it costs on ALi Express. Yes people will fear monger and say it could potentially ruin your Snes. Will that happen? 99% unlikely.

    • @PikangsFutaba
      @PikangsFutaba 4 года назад +4

      Really I doubt it will ruin the console, I have an old version of the Everdrive MD (the ones from Aliexpress) for about 4 years, and my Genesis model 2 works just fine (same for my Ali Express Everdrive 64 that I have for about 2 years), still, I may get an actual Everdrive X7 or PRO in the future because of compatibility with some games, as for the SNES, I'll buy soon one of those SD2SNES (FXPak) on Aliexpress and also a NES Everdrive, while I have the mini consoles, I rather use the real deal as I pretty much have them hooked up on my TV to play them whenever I'm in the mood.

      @@PikangsFutaba Krikkz keeps the voltage correct because it does damage your console if the voltage is higher than a standard cartridge. That said it most likely will not kill your systems but it will lower the overall life of it. How long your system will last in general is hard to tell, these old systems are durable as hell.

      @@TheDeathOfLucifer Oh yeah, of course, whenever I get the chance, I'll replace my Everdrives to the real deal, those repros (or whatever you want to call it) may work well so far but, that's the best choice I can do (especially for my Sega Genesis, as a Mega Everdrive PRO or X7 or even the MegaSD can cover pretty much any situation I could end up with game and hacks compatibility).

    This is the "Rev. X" which is 100% china re-work of the older SD2SNES. It uses a newer chip than the SD2SNES, but not as powerful as the chip in the SD2SNES Pro. The Rev X has the Altera Cyclone II and the official Pro has the Altera Cyclone IV. The Rev X is based off the Rev F designs which are open source, the FPGA in the original designs from iKari01 are no longer made which was Xilinx Spartan. The biggest issue with the unofficial china cards is quality control. Sometimes they leave the leds off for example, or use marginal chips. Also, I'd be concerned as the SD2SNES software gets updated, it may not work on a Rev X one day, and if there are ever any "pro features only" I wouldn't expect a Rev X to run those. BTW Current designs for SD2SNES / PRO are not open source anymore.

      @Gerenocidiac Год назад

      @@warrioroflight3489 I would not recommend updating of these clone carts. The firmware files included on the microsd cards that the sellers bundle with the carts are what you should use. I'd even recommend backing up the contents of the microsd card from the clone cart, getting a better higher quality microsd card and copying the contents to it. I have a clone EverdriveGB for my gameboy. It suddenly stopped reading the microsd card (they include cheap pos 8gb cards) but I had backed it up, transferred to a modern 128GB card and it works again.
      If you risk downloading official firmware, best case scenario it'll work. Worse case it'll brick the PCB. Back everything up to be safe, and don't risk updating the firmware if you aren't comfortable with having a brick. This comment only applies to clones, and you know you have a clone if you got a super low price. If it's too good to be true, likely a clone.

      As a seller I'd say he 100% knew. This is what a lot of people will do sadly to make a profit. Especially with how much Amazon takes out sometimes you need to sell for 100% the price to see much of a profit. Amazon is pretty rampant with knockoffs which is interesting because it used to be Amazon for the reliable products and probably a similar item on ebay. Thats with mass sellers at least of electronics. The pictures for a lot of N64 games on Amazon you can even tell its repros with Zelda and Mario games often
