I like to think that Elrond's greatest joy was passing into the west, stepping off the dock and seeing Celebrían once more. It's a beautiful picture in my mind.

I now understand from personal connection with three rape victims that it's the spirit that rape really destroys. Hence its long use as a weapon of war. 😥😥

I almost didn't play this one, so heavily this tale may weigh upon my heart sometimes. To see a loved one so aggrieved that the world has lost all its allure -- even all the wonders and beauties of nature and the arts -- is a helpless sensation, an empathy turned upon its head almost to madness. There is a special helplessness here, where she is lost but remains alive, just trapped, distant inside, still breathing yet already as one dead. To the evil that creates this horror, there will be no end to the vengeance against it. Of such sorrow is born the wrath of the twins she bore.

I had no idea Galadriel and Celeborn had lived in the south of Middle Earth for a time in the Elf haven near Dol Amroth. I video about Elven colonies, towns or havens outside of the well known places like Lindon, Lorien, Greenwood, Rivendell etc.. would be very interesting. It makes sense their would be Elven towns elsewhere in Middle Earth the Elves have lived in Middle Earth before other Kingdoms rose but you don't hear about many of them, would be cool to know more.

It is a sweet image, but with an age difference of over 100 years, Elrohir and Elladan would have grown into young adults by the time that Arwen was born. Mae govannen mellon
Celebrían's tale has always sounded so dark and uncanny to me, even though I know it is implied not to be rape, it seems like that was the original story and Tolkien decided it would be too tragic (the poisoned wound is a bit random for me). Whatever the cause of her suffering, I feel really sorry for her and her family, even if we know so little.
On a more positive note, Happy Easter! I wonder if there is an equivalent holiday in the Legendarium, maybe related to Vána of Yavánna.
I would like to ask a question: I am considering, with the help of a group of friends, to do a rewriting of the Silmarillion keeping the story but adapting it to be more friendly to the major public (basically, being more of a prose than a history book). I am divide, though, on one side I see Tolkien's opinion on this kind of work and also consider that the Silmarillion is indeed beautiful and unique the way it is; on the other hand, this would be a work born of love for the Legendarium and not intended to substitute the Silmarillion or change it's essence in any way (maybe I think of myself like Aulë did with the dwarves), and there are so many interesting characters that would be amazing to see explored deeply on a more personal storytelling level, I don't know what to decide. Any opinions on the subject?
Amazing work as always, I shouldn't forget to say
P.s.: of course these writings wouldn't be for profit, they would be free for every reader to find and become interested in the world of Tolkien, and all my considerations as well as the position of the work as basically fanfiction would be clearly stated.

I think it's a fantastic idea! I love your intent is not to fundamentally change his works, but to bring interest to them. And as we live in different times than Tolkien, so must our approaches change. I think any publicity to his works is a good thing. Good luck! I'll be looking for your works in the future.

@Men of the West, The twin sons were in Rivendell when the fellowship arrived. Aragorn rides with the twins when riders are sent out to look for news or traces of the Nazgul. Likely they stayed in Middle Earth for revenge on the orcs for what they did to their mother, which is mentioned in the Fellowship of the Ring. I am paraphrasing the last bit, but I'm fairly sure it's accurate because there is mention that they hate orcs with a passion as their act of revenge.

You sure about the fates of Elladan and Elrohir? All the literature I've read says that they elected to remain in Middle-Earth with the Dunedain and become of mortal kind. Therefore, when Elrond reached Aman, he was reunited with his wife, but sundered at the last from his sons, and his beloved daughter Arwen. :'(

It's a shame how much Jackson diminished the various Powerful Characters for GOOD (like eliminating Elrohir and Elodan) while he pumped up the evil ones, far extending their screen time.
