This was a "Monsters of Rock" festival in Moscow 1991. The festival was held at an airport in the suburbs of Moscow (Tushino airfield) ... no other venue or stadium could accommodate everyone. The concerts of this festival were included in the Guinness Book of Records as the most massive concert in the history of the world - you just watched the crowd of TWO MILLION PEOPLE! More in the history of mankind such mass concerts and festivals have not been! I returned after serving in the Soviet Army in 1989 and therefore went specifically to this festival (I come from Kiev, Ukraine, but then we were one country of the USSR) !! At this festival for one day (!!) from morning to evening there were concerts of Metallica, Pantera, The Black Crowes, E.S.T. (Russian group E.S.T.), AC / DC ... Stay Metal! Peace!
This was AWESOME!!! Couldn't imagine playing for a crowd of this proportion. It would be like rocking the entire population of ND, MT, and WY all at the same time...🤯
I saw Metallica live at Lollapalooza in 1996. Outdoor venue. Enter Sandman was towards the end of the main set. Over 30,000 people going crazy....Man, I miss being able to have shows like that....but, even though it was outdoors, they rocked hard and LOUD! \m/
The music playing in the opening scene is the theme to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Great movie on its own. I used to go to a country bar were they would 20 step to Enter the Sandman.
This is my all time favorite song. I had it as my ringtone for a long time. It was so much fun being a Grandmother and watching peoples faces, when a gray haired woman said hello. HAHAHAHA
I was a 16yo boy in the soviet bloc at that time, it was a historic moment. There's nothing to get you high like freedom. I love watching reactions to this, and how most of the people reacting don't even understand the significance of what they're watching at the moment. :D
Imagine being a young person there, who had known only communism and the Cold War, this must have been insane! Like hearing Elvis for the first time on TV in 1956!
Brings me back to the 90s😊👏 shout out to 1991 and being 11....I absolutely fell in love with the whole grunge alternative rock...Im working hard to get my kids to listen to good music

Great energy from huge crowd and the perfect song to fire everyone up !
This song a) gets your blood pumping and b) is great for driving. Love the high energy of this epic anthem \m/
Stay Metal!
Peace!
My fave Metallica song! Great live version!
YES....LIVE music is where its at, spot on!
Can you imagine playing in front of that many people and everyone of them loving it
Just may be one of the top 5 greatest live performances of all time
Metallica live should be on everyone's bucket list, it is absolutely an experience to be had! Throw the horns up! 🤘
Seen them in Slane Castle, Ireland. Unreal gig
Thank you for your reactions that are helping keep my generation of music alive
I wish they would show the drummers more. They are BADASS!!!!
This is my all time favorite song. I had it as my ringtone for a long time. It was so much fun being a Grandmother and watching peoples faces, when a gray haired woman said hello. HAHAHAHA
Thank you for keeping us rocking! You are the best!
Yep this live version is where it’s at
Every time
great react!!!!🔥🔥🔥 I cannot believe that crowd... It was estimated to be 1.5 million (?!?!?!)). Wow.
One the Greatest live performances of ALL time pure profection
I was in basic training in Ft.Knox when this came out! We were all so pumped!!!!!
Every time I hear The Ecstasy Of Gold,it makes the hairs on my arms stand up.
Morrison's. RIP. TGTBATU soundtrack was the first CD I bought back in '91.
Every time I watch these Moscow '91 videos, I get chills. The amount of pent up emotions those Russians released that day must've been off the charts.
I was 17 and I got to see them in the US in 91 great concert.
I love how there`s just random helicopters flying over the crowd, that alone must be a trip at a metal gig...
The Berlin Wall came down in 1989, the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 - To see the crowd experiencing FREEDOM - truly a sight to behold.
Brings me back to the 90s😊👏 shout out to 1991 and being 11....I absolutely fell in love with the whole grunge alternative rock...Im working hard to get my kids to listen to good music
Man this was the best ever!!! I was 11 as well!! 1.5 million people!! Goosebumps huh???
I love studio for the perfection but I have a passion for great live recordings too. I can close my eyes and sit front row .
That ennio morricone intro from the good, the bad, the ugly is so great for the start of this video
What a lot people don't know is history was made in Moscow on this day that's why this concert became so historic. Pantera, AC/DC, Metallica & others. Check the history behind this.
