One Artist for you to React to: TOMMY BOLIN. (Tommy, sadly passed away
in 1976, at the Very Early Age of 25. Just as he was on the verge of
becoming Big. Stupidly, He OD'ed!! :( :( I was 17, he was My 1st Guitar
Hero, and My Entire World was Rocked Hard for A Long While. Check Out:
My Favorite: "Wild Dogs" and "Dreamer" both off of his 1st solo CD
"Teaser". Also, "Post Toastee" from his 2nd/last solo album: "Private
Eyes". IF you are Into/Like Great Dynamics, then "Dreamer" is a song for
you. From sparse, mellow and pretty to Rocking Out in a beat.
Then-Boom- Right back to sweet and mellow. On "Post Toastee" Everyone in
the band gets to Show Off A Little! :) I would suggest the studio
      versions/audio of all 3.

This happened in September 1991, right at the time when the Soviet Union was in the middle of collapsing. There was an estimated 1.5 million people at the show. The sheer joy on the faces of these fans getting to see their heroes, playing music that was totally banned and illegal to own or listen to just a couple of years earlier, is amazing to watch.

I still get chills every time I see this. Not just the performance but the look of new found freedom in the eyes of the crowd.
I grew up during the Cold War and it was a dream of mine to see the day the Iron Curtain would fall and I could meet a Russian.
A great moment in human history. Thanks Jamal!

AC/DC, Pantera, and Black Crowes were also on the bill at this show. It was a free concert held in the aftermath of the failed "August coup" that marked the end of the Soviet Union. Estimates of the attendance range from 500,000 to over 2 million. The generally accepted figure is 1.6 million and was arrived at using pixel analysis of footage from the show.

This was a "Monsters of Rock" festival in Moscow 1991. The festival was held at an airport in the suburbs of Moscow (Tushino airfield) ... no other venue or stadium could accommodate everyone. The concerts of this festival were included in the Guinness Book of Records as the most massive concert in the history of the world - you just watched the crowd of TWO MILLION PEOPLE! More in the history of mankind such mass concerts and festivals have not been!
I returned after serving in the Soviet Army in 1989 and therefore went specifically to this festival (I come from Kiev, Ukraine, but then we were one country of the USSR) !!
At this festival for one day (!!) from morning to evening there were concerts of Metallica, Pantera, The Black Crowes, E.S.T. (Russian group E.S.T.), AC / DC ...
    Stay Metal!
    Peace!

I saw Metallica live at Lollapalooza in 1996. Outdoor venue. Enter Sandman was towards the end of the main set. Over 30,000 people going crazy....Man, I miss being able to have shows like that....but, even though it was outdoors, they rocked hard and LOUD! \m/
