    I recently tried this method on a mask I was asked to print. The print failed (due to a jam during printing. BUT THE MASK TURNED OUT AMAZING. There were a couple of rough spots, but nothing a bit of sanding and smoothing could not fix up. Any masks or helmets I print from now on are going to use this technique. Thank you for sharing this.

    I had an idea while watching this video. Wouldn't if be quicker to use support blockers and then generate supports? Save you time in having to add them in one by one. I know Cura has the support blockers. I will put the idea to the test on my next helmet build. Thank you very much for a great video and I will be using this method from now on.

    I really enjoyed this video, however I think that if you were to change the angle of the print so that the jaw line kind of lines up with the bed then your supports would be even shorter. For example instead of spawn looking straight like you would wear it he is looking more towards the sky which would minimize the distance from build plate along the back of the helmet.

    TPU... oh boi. Okay so I am going to try TPU this way with your Azrael Batman. See how that pans out. What are your tips on using supports with TPU? I hear you can't really use them. That obviously is not true. You are supporting the rim of the mask/helmet here and then showing a completed helmet without supports.

    • @KurtisJoseph
      @KurtisJoseph Год назад

      I ask cuz I thought of doing a muscle suit for that Azrael Batman. A lot of those pieces will likely need supports and in theory TPU would work best.

    HI Nikko, I was wondering if you help advise in the following, I have printed a helmet bottom up exactly the same as yours but when it starts to print the top centre (around 5-6cm from the centre top) of the helmet, the pla starts to tear away from printing which resulted in a very thin and horrible inner layer, though the external wall is great. Do you have any tip on how to resolve this issue I am facing?

  • @lucifersamael8611

    Hey, I realize I'm coming across this informative video two years after the fact, but would this method apply to Tree Supports as well? Only reason I ask is I've been getting pretty great quality prints with TS and I know that they use waaaay less filament than traditional support structures, so I was wondering if you or anyone else for that matter had tried this method in combination with TS an achieved a similar if not more satisfactory (because less plastic being used) result?
    Thank you so much for sharing your methods and insights, Nikko. I really appreciate it- I'm new to 3D printing but I love what the community is capable of!

    for venom you should be trying a flexible material, with a good size of the prop you could get amazing results, and if you are good enough to be able to measure your face proportions and apply them to the interior space you can make a very good latex-like masks.

      For tpu, yuo need to deshidrate the , for suport i use about 15% density and the spacer betewn the model and the suport must be a little high than your layer high, if yuo use Cura, for explample and print at 0.2 mm layer hight, the Support asistant will automaticaly use a "space" up abd down of 0.2mm, change that to 0.21 or 0,22mm thats make the gap a little biger, on the top i use a "grid of 40%",easy to remove, im printing full suport tpu go pro camera suport, then cut the support
