In this video I show you how to print your helmet props with ZERO supports inside.
Not having supports inside the helmet significantly decreases print time and material.

I recently tried this method on a mask I was asked to print. The print failed (due to a jam during printing. BUT THE MASK TURNED OUT AMAZING. There were a couple of rough spots, but nothing a bit of sanding and smoothing could not fix up. Any masks or helmets I print from now on are going to use this technique. Thank you for sharing this.
Pretty cool!! I wouldn't have risked such a long print, but now I'm happy you did :D Thanks buddy!
was wondering about this just a few days ago, and bam, you put out a video, nice. Also many shout outs to the facebook group, I have learned a ton from all the guys there, can't recommend that group enough....thank you Nikko
Brent Cox hahahaha I'm glad I was able to help man!!
Thanks you!! I have been asking some of the 3d RUclipsrs and no one responded! You rock!
Jovanny Sanchez thanks man! Just trying to help people!!
I had an idea while watching this video. Wouldn't if be quicker to use support blockers and then generate supports? Save you time in having to add them in one by one. I know Cura has the support blockers. I will put the idea to the test on my next helmet build. Thank you very much for a great video and I will be using this method from now on.
Once again your skill show everybody that you are a boss.
I really enjoyed this video, however I think that if you were to change the angle of the print so that the jaw line kind of lines up with the bed then your supports would be even shorter. For example instead of spawn looking straight like you would wear it he is looking more towards the sky which would minimize the distance from build plate along the back of the helmet.
i agree!! i started dpoing that as well. but sometimes we also have to consider the shape of the helmet. other than that, you are very correct!!
Thanks man, great information and advice. Much appreciated! Keep it up bro..
Sean Wilson thanks man!! You guys keep me going!
sadly i have a huge head so i have to print it in parts but that is a very helpful video
Karl Ruprck thanks man
carnage is no longer on your site? my 11 year old would have loved that
That was really cool, glad I found your channel, subscribing now to keep up with this cool stuff.
ATOMIXGARAGE PRODUCTIONS thanks!! Much appreciate the support
Definitely gotta try this on my next helmet.
Can you design a skull on with the job that moves just a plain ordinary human skull
I would have love a 3d acupuncture helmet that could massage the Temple, side of neck and eyes surrounding
Bro, what speed are you printing at, and is that extruder stock, or did you do something to it to print flexible?
Hi looking to purchase a printer for my son who is into power ranger helmets. What is the best economical printer to purchase to handle the size of these helmets?
A cr10 would be your best bet
Looks like on the forehead of the red mask there is something going on there. Fairly large horizontal lines around the whole thing.
Can the Mandalorian Helmet be printed with no supports on the inside and right-side up?
Yes sir
@@NikkoIndustries Sweet, thanks
@@NikkoIndustries what print settings do I need to set for printing from petg using this technology?
Would my bambu be too fast to make that without support?
Can you print a Batman cowl as one piece? Or will the head be too big to fit through the neck hole. Probably a dumb question, but I am still a novice at this.
It depends on the file.
@@NikkoIndustries Good point! And of course the size of my head/neck. For the files from your store, do you recommend multiple parts? I have the 2021 suit and the Prime one. I also have the Nomura suit, and I am thinking I could do that as one piece.
@@undisputedgreatest I've personally printed the Nomura helmet and you can put it on in one piece. For any neck piece, I suggest printing it in TPU and cutting the back and adding Velcro or a zipper
Hey I saw your channel and I was wondering if you can print a silverhawks helmet with mask and how much is the cost
So there still print lines on the helmet. With that much detail on it, how do you get rid of it?
Post process. I have a few of those videos
That was quick! I'll check them out now!
Hiw do i join your 3d armor fb page been 2 weeks that i tried joining? Is there usually that ling of a delay?
What program do you use to create the heads or masks
OR just throwing this out there. you print it upside down and use no support what so ever. (except for those few internal features) wich should have been designed better so they could have been printed without support aswel.
TPU... oh boi. Okay so I am going to try TPU this way with your Azrael Batman. See how that pans out. What are your tips on using supports with TPU? I hear you can't really use them. That obviously is not true. You are supporting the rim of the mask/helmet here and then showing a completed helmet without supports.
I ask cuz I thought of doing a muscle suit for that Azrael Batman. A lot of those pieces will likely need supports and in theory TPU would work best.
HI Nikko, I was wondering if you help advise in the following, I have printed a helmet bottom up exactly the same as yours but when it starts to print the top centre (around 5-6cm from the centre top) of the helmet, the pla starts to tear away from printing which resulted in a very thin and horrible inner layer, though the external wall is great. Do you have any tip on how to resolve this issue I am facing?
Hey, I realize I'm coming across this informative video two years after the fact, but would this method apply to Tree Supports as well? Only reason I ask is I've been getting pretty great quality prints with TS and I know that they use waaaay less filament than traditional support structures, so I was wondering if you or anyone else for that matter had tried this method in combination with TS an achieved a similar if not more satisfactory (because less plastic being used) result?
Thank you so much for sharing your methods and insights, Nikko. I really appreciate it- I'm new to 3D printing but I love what the community is capable of!
Yup! Same concept applies!
@@NikkoIndustries Thank you so much man, I really appreciate it!
@@NikkoIndustries hey sir quick question or some; do you have any other ideas or methods if I want to make my own ninja helmet such as Snake Eyes from GI Joe Retailation helmet? I kinda like that one much more than the very movie of his senseless ninja costume if you saw the first movie of GI Joe Rise of the Cobra of his costume is not as interesting as the 2nd one and that if I want to modify it what software or features that I can edit it so I don't copy or steal someone's ideas from movies games or others? Hope to hear back from you and that which is the best 3D printer I can get for armory props to weapons arsenals gadgets homemade props that I want to learn on my own to be able to make my cosplay story?
Have you tried printing it upside down? probably would only need a few supports.
It'll take longer to post process afterwards
@@NikkoIndustries Ah ok
for venom you should be trying a flexible material, with a good size of the prop you could get amazing results, and if you are good enough to be able to measure your face proportions and apply them to the interior space you can make a very good latex-like masks.
I'm using an ender 3 pro, I have a pretty average head shape, and I plan on printing off a shoretrooper helmet, however it's taking more 20 hour to print parts that aren't even that big mainly because of support, I can't fit the dome part on the printer as a whole so I print it off in pieces, is there a way to reduce the print time, would increasing nozzle size help?
Thos can be angled back father then turned 45° will make less supports
Can it work a tactical helmet but only the base and other parts like nvg mount and arc rails
Do you think this trick will work for Ranger Helmets on your site on a Neptune 3 max?
it does work ive i have printed all 6 King ohger helmets using this method and had no issues im even printing all of kyurangers helmets with this method on a anycubic kobra plus
Should i print a helmet at 0.1 or 0.2? .2 will leave me with alot more sanding work but cut down on tons of print time.
"nothing alex flex can't fix"? Did I hear that right? What is that?
Joshua Wood it's what I use for post processing flexible filament
This has my mind blown! I don’t own a motorcycle but have been dreaming of purchasing my own Can Am Ryker (it’s a motorcycle… Change my mind!) for quite some time. I suppose my question is is it possible to 3-D print your own DOT approved motorcycle helmet? Just wondering.
Your own helmet yes. DoT approved probably not lol
@@NikkoIndustries Dang it! Welp, time to look for someone who can. I’d suck at it anyway. 😂
Your videos have been immensely helpful for me just starting out with my CR-10. I'm getting ready to print a Mando helmet in PLA...do you think I can manage without center supports like this? Or is this only applicable for flexible filament?
You can use this concept for the Mando helmet. Check my video on it
What profile did you print these with? The .6 nozzle tpu? Or pla?
Joe Turpening .6 nozzle. Flexible. Profiles in my website and the group files
Didn’t you have one for pla with a .6 nozzle?
Joe Turpening yup. On my website or the group files
this is great stuff man. any suggestions on parameters for supports when printing tpu? ive got quite a bit of stringing even when baking the tpu to get as much moisture out as possible. i increased the support density but the problem still persists a bit
For tpu, yuo need to deshidrate the , for suport i use about 15% density and the spacer betewn the model and the suport must be a little high than your layer high, if yuo use Cura, for explample and print at 0.2 mm layer hight, the Support asistant will automaticaly use a "space" up abd down of 0.2mm, change that to 0.21 or 0,22mm thats make the gap a little biger, on the top i use a "grid of 40%",easy to remove, im printing full suport tpu go pro camera suport, then cut the support
Can you use flexible fliament with the Cr-10s? (same nozzle no modding it?)
how much infill would u normally recommend
What material flex?
will this work on the boba fett samurai helmet? haha
Tee Ell good question. Try it on a small scale. Then see
Sorry I meant what kind of printer do you use
Do you use the stock cr10 hot end with the flex filament?
Jay Vorel everything is stock. I've made a video on how to print flexible in my channel
Ok quick question: can you print a halo helmet with a see-through visor?
The visor won't be see through. But you can attach one to the helmet
@@NikkoIndustries much appreciated, but where would i be able to get a visor from? Do i make custom model sunglasses?
@@tehnsib lots of different options. It all depends on the color
@@NikkoIndustries huh.
What settings did you use for the TPU on s3d?
would that work with pla on a mando helmet???
Yes it would
WOW Absolute cool
I added the supports. But how do I save as a stl file.
What 3D printers do you have?
what infill% should you use for printing cosplay masks?
How do you measure for your helmet?
What printer do you use
What filament do you use?
What printer is it please
Cr10 or cr10s4
What 3d program do u use
What was the dimensions?
What software were you using in the video?
Simply 3d. its a paid software
What would be the best printer to do adult sized helmets ? Example: star wars helmets Thanks!
Minimum cr10
@@NikkoIndustries And is it able to print in one sitting?
nice video
What program r u using?
Net5aber Gaming simplify 3d
may need to try this is it free ?
Karl Ruprck no. It's $150
