This is not a serious take on naval history, but more a shitpost thereof. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt.
I'm sorry, Elmo Zumwalt.
The game is Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts: store.steampowered.com/app/10...
In Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts you play as the head of a navy doing what the head of navies do best - spend entirely too much money on holes in the water, or, in laymans terms, ships. You can design very stupid things. I do this.
Music from Epidemic Sound - www.epidemicsound.com - Игры
To be fair, I put this on the background so I can listen to Tex ramble about boats, unless he's getting into a fight.
Same, it’s like a bonus podcast. Then you get a fight sequence with his floating shitposts and it’s the perfect accompaniment to my lunch break
or pimping a bathtub.. 😂
The bonus history podcasts as he designs the most heavily armed wedding cakes in the world are my favorite part.
Tex's videos help me sleep
You are not alone, sir! I really enjoy listening to Tex ramble.
imagine being assigned to the SMS Disposaboat.
"She's the first of her class" ... "all 4200 of her class"
Building hulls faster than they can crew em 😂
@@banebeard As a dude who FREQUENTLY has literal hundreds of BB hulls by 1920, you only think you're joking.
@@Deridus that's a lot of smonk
@@banebeard It breaks the game, but it works. Build a barebones hull with one stack, one big gun fore & aft, and zero armor, minimal range, bulkheads, et cetera. That way, you can easilly build three to four times your dock capacity without breaking the bank. Then, once built, design a refit to the stats you want minus a single armor tic, and immediately redesign that refit. That way, the game thinks the prior refit has already been adopted and only takes 2 or 4 months instead of years. Done with midgame dockyard specs, you can build a 50k BB at full stats in 15 months, rather than 5 years.
And, yes, that is a LOT of smonk.
Edit: it's Jan of 1924, and I built *80* BC's in one go. Even recruiting for years and I can only man 30 of them!
Japan: “Have you learned nothing Russia?”
Tex: “ Some would argue.”
"Ah, you have brought insufficient funnels!"
No truer encapsulation of a BPL playthrough exists.
"BROADSIDE! you have brought insufficient funnels..." goddammit that one broke me, almost pissed myself laughing
The Battle Of The Adriatic, January 1903
The day the world learned the power of incendiary munitions and the potential merit of autocannons.
Also the day the world discovered the term, "Bolostomp."
On the plus side, with how much of the hulls you usually have under wash as the ships pivot violently, an entire Russian fleet sunk is technically only 10-20% more underwater than usual.
I still want a stream with you and Dracinifel, where you two nerd out about naval history in between Drac having emotional breakdowns and Tex cackling like an absolute maniac.
Perun as the mediator!
How can we find such glory?
The outgoing shift on my hospital unit is 100% baffled by the magic of ships with guns. Of course, they are also scared of the automatic paper towel dispenser.
Vets are in good hands.
Hospital unit?
I was listening to Deep Purple a few hours ago, and it was Highway Star.
I just watched THIS video and now I can't get the idea out of my head: Highway Tsar!
"I'm a highway Tsar....."
"Nobody gonna take my fleet, it's get the torpedo spread.
Nobody gonna sink my boats, I'm gonna sink them instead..."
"Sometimes, in war, all you get is ooosiedoodles." Great quote ill use that one next time someone yapps at me about (current conflict)
I love Tex's evil laughter
Bad is the german word for bath and cities with Bad in their name have or had some sort of "healing" spring/baths during their early years, many still do have natural spring baths. Badharzburg for example is called that because its a city with natural springbaths that is located adjacent to the Harz Castle, and so on.
Thanks, I was about to explain that! 😀
I live near a small town called "Bad Hall", we have a couple springs in the area were the water contains iodide ("Hall" comes from the latin word for salt).
i wonder what kind of horrors we would witness if Tex played From the depths
Man I just finished rewatching the last episode too. Perfect timing as always for shipposting
Same here. I wonder if he ever considered using any mods for his game which all fix numerous issues, pinned by the devs in the official Game Labs forum for everyone to see.
Ah to the high seas again comrade Tex!
I get so much enjoyment from Tex's ultimate admiral series. The history, the humour, the insanity - I am here for it.
All the cadets that will gain the valuable experience of using their life preservers... lost it there. 10/10
Botes!!
So.....short......need ...more......botes!
I love that opening animation, hats off to whomever put that together.
Come on, Casemate, he's our man! If he can't do it, no one can!
Instantly graduates to ships with 4x4 turrets...
Captain of the Admiral Guise:
Why use Torpedo when haz Knife?
from 13:00 to 17:00 what a glorious menuver! you really fishbarreled them!
“It takes a certain kind of man, with a certain reputation, to alleviate the cash from a whole entire nation. Excuse me just a while while I try and put the face oooon.”
28:44 I like that Cruiser that just fcking ate it to collateral.
Losing an entire fleet in an afternoon? What are you Iran and in the middle of Operation Preying Mantis?
Feeling the front-heaviness of those Russian BBs in that fleet engagement against Japan. V
But hey! Volume of fire made up for it. Bless you, Tex, for making boondoggles awesome to see in action.
I immediately get hit with nostalgia when I hear that first background song. It convinced me to play Tchaikovsky on my piano. More or less would play May, June, and November. The best part though is that I still don't know what the name of this song is. But it's so *chef's kiss*
In the German Region Towns with the name Bad exist because they evolved into Resorts, Bad means Bath, so those towns where relaxation Spas for the Rich because they had better air and where in the Backwoods where the Landscape was nice.
6:35 small correction they are khergit not vaegir because vaegirs are bootleg slavs and khergit are bootleg mongols (also the pizza fell on me)
YOU HAVE BROUGHT INSUFFICIENT FUNNELS!
SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK!!! 💨🤪👍
The outro song is so damn good, I'd like to think the Reid boys in The Proclaimers would like it, assuming they're still alive. Damn, the 80's was a long time ago now
The vid where Tex created the Renown was what convinced me to purchase the game. These were the days where the campaign was still eaons away from being reasy, mind. Tex's destructoid imaginings are endless.
honestly good job I was not expecting those battleships to last
From the brilliant criminals behind Knife Fight City, now in theaters "Knife Point Torpedo Flotilla" now with extra bang for your buck!
I can only imagine what would happen when tex eventually plays every single playable country and just imagine all those countries in one campaign just the tom foolery would unending.
Bad in Austrian is Bath btw ... which reminds me of the old woman who asked a friend of mine where "Bad Religion" was and if it was a religous resort =D
The barnacles are really reducing the aerodynamics of your super structure.
Awe man! Great battles but I love the longer episodes. I really want to see you take all of Hungary. Hope to see it soon
*Feels good meme* yes.. this is what i needed.
I knew it would happen, I understood the circumstances, and I braced myself for the outcome.
Yet despite the foresight, despite the understanding of the terrible event that would soon come to pass. I still felt my soul crying out for the men lost in the charge of the light torpedo boat brigade.
I audibly, at least once, did in fact utter “this is horrible”, and so it was.
I experienced more horror in those few clicks of the mouse than in the past many years of my life in most all forms of media and literature.
I both applaud and deplore you in equal measure, good sir, but I fear such is the nature of war and the decisions we must make.
“Kill them all, violence!” - The honest to god admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy, Tex.
Ah, finally up to date with the naval misadventures.
9:00 Just beware Japanese Torpedo Boats off of Dodger Banks attacking your Repair Ships...
Do YOU see British trawlers?
@@Deridus No, but I bet the crews of the repair ship does...
@@Jacen32272 True, that! 🤣
Tex, I've seen you break into Tom's office and eat his gun. You have never been sorry to destroy someone's things.
So I guess this is the universe where Rozhestvensky was given an actual fleet instead of the rust buckets that they called the 2nd Pacific Squadron. Although there is a part of me that feels like you should name one ship the Kamchtka and send it to retrace that voyage, just because.
Makarov. Rozhestvensky is having time of his life in Adriatics in this universe.
I kind of assumed that Makarov, who didn't lose his head, would be dealing with Austrians, which would mean that they'd send Rozhestvensky to the Pacific anyway, but it could be the other way around as well. So Rozhestvensky is in the Adriatic dunking on Austrian boats, and Makarov sailing with 1st Pacific Squadron, and the only reason anybody knows about the Kamchatka is because some mad man stole it and took an insane cruise around Africa and the Indian Ocean with it... all the while muttering about "Japanese torpedo boats" that "got away"...
Some how I discovered the ultimate strat, a full army of Swadian Knights, for they are unstoppable.
I miss the long episodes. From now on I won't be using torpedo boats anymore, they are cool but when they run out of torps they are useless. Gunboats do not run out of ammo and brrrrrrrrrrr the whole enemy navy.
the Bad prefix basically means there was a spa in these towns.
Mood instantly better. Thank you Tex and the bpl
Given the occasional "Tex goes Picric" tendency
Can i, pretty pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top, have a tex talks battletech on *FS9 Firestarter*
I wish Tex still made Battletech Mech profiles,
Good morning, Gospodin Comrade Tex. Can't sleep like the rest of us, I see. Great to wake up to something entertaining--takes my mind off the pain for a while.
Had to use that music, huh? Now I'm expecting the Martians to attack.
Good morning to you too.
Engage in operation: Osaka Punch
Hey Tex, what did people do with survivors when naval battles were fought with sailing ships? Space must've been sparse, did they just leave them? Did they have a pole to poke them back in the water if they tried to climb aboard? What if the wind died down, did they just awkwardly avoid eye contact and hope it picked up again so they could sail away? Come to think of it, what if the wind died down in the middle of a fight? Did everyone just clock out and go on lunch?
Hmm more boat, yes good, Admiral Tex may keep his position this day.
the Bad infront of german/ austrian towns means they are a town with a health resort
Don't know if this is the place but... no more Battletech videos ? Just had to ask. It's getting more and more popular and yalls battletech videos are awesomeness.
Weird off-topic question. What happened to the sunless sea and sunless sky videos? I cant find them anywhere, and those were a great way to sit back and chill watching the zee captain.
Coal-burning spaceships when
Lovin' these series, and I don't even play the game ✌️
Yeet the fleet.
Hey Tex. "Bad" in German means Bath. Towns with Bad bevor their name have some sort of thermal spring or medical spa. So calling your town Bad is actually something good
I'm sorry but with the background music all I hear is " You're listening to the Mercury Theatre Radio company"
Thank you
Man I like boats
ROFL cadets getting life preserver experience...
Hey Tex idk if youll see this as im sure the algorithm already considers this an old video and im not sure how comments are relayed as time passes, but was the fall of the ottomans book you recommended the one by eugene rogan? Im very fascinated by WWI history and am interested in giving it a read, and if you do reply to this are there any other good WWI books you would recommend?
Jousting with BBs seems a bit too much cavalry and not enough navy.
I imagine I'm getting AB tested, because I got so many ads on this video.
Was a good one though.
What is that song he uses for the intro? I like it but I've never heard it anywhere else.
really hope the multiplayer works out well, kinda wanna just be a minor nation like hawaii with a handful of cruisers and thats just fine
I wanna be Brazil, Turkey, or Persia, honestly. Heck, maybe even Greece.
I think I'd play any nation, really. There are a few things I'd fix on the map, though. Say, 1910 borders, a d restore the Aral Sea to it's pre-Soviet glory. May it l's water level raise again!
Insomnia sometimes has its perks
Try right clicking on your division while in combat. It's neat.
Moaaar!!!!!!! :)
So how much ozone does the average Tex russian fleet burn per kilometer passed?
Tbf that is not a bad battleship at all. 11 is good enough to deal with most things and the caseguns make a good defence array to keep TB and LC at bay. It will get dirty against thougher opponents but is well armored and fast as fuck for its size, so can gtfo against big bullies of its weight class. Some twitchs to keep with the tech and can serve at least until the next war
Tzar Bathbomba?
Rig the algorithm!
So hear me out, I know we have all heard of all big gun battleship, but have you heard of no big gun battleship? Would it be possible to just sandblast your way to 1940?
Define 'no big gun.'
Just to see if I could do it, I did an all Light Cruiser run with Germany. Torps, torps, and more torps, with a side of torps and 7.9in popguns. I'd frequently lose four or five CL's to a BB, but the tonnage was always in my favor.
Also found a neat but game-breaking trick to increase ship production. The only limit really is crew recruitment and staying in the black.
A battleship, by game diktat, _must_ have at least one gun of 9" or bigger. You may have just the one and then add lots and lots of pop guns, however.
🎉 I have lived another week, I am going to make this someone's problem 😊
🚢💨💨💨💨💨💨💨👍😎
Crapital ships
just as muh flagship
are you sure you want Afghanistan? Just saying.
blank has sunk blank has sunk blank has sunk
So Tex, what is your take on Drone Naval Warfare, is it the new Dreadnought Effect? Nations with decades and trillions invested in blue water navies are watching a nation without a navy fucking humiliate what most idiots consider a world naval power, you and I know better, but will this have the same effect??
Starting the week off right. Thanks Tex! 👍⚓️🪆
