You have such a wonderful sense of humor. Your project was so cool! I love the technique you used!!!! It turned out gorgeous! I hope you guys get some cooler weather asap. Thank you so much for participating in the challenge!!!
Thank you so much, Cory! 🥰 This is always such a fun challenge and I really appreciate you hosting. I don't envy you having to pick a winner, though. This group is sooo talented! Thanks and yeah, we're anxiously waiting for fall to arrive! Sooooooon...
Oh I love your faux wood grain! God bless you for working in that HEAT AND DRY DRY CLIMATE !! I’m in New York State and NOTHING dries because of humidity ! Beautiful piece !
LINY is where I got my start in faux, how cool! Funny, I'd looooove to have some of your humidity so my glaze has a bit longer open time. I'm tired of working so fast lol. Thank you so much, Jayne! 🥰
I am mesmorized every time I see you do faux wood grain! You have such an an amazing skill at that, and it looks crazy authentic! Thanks for sharing your gift with us! And so glad you could persevere through the heat.....not sure how you do it!
Luckily we're only about a month away from temps that humans can exist in 😬 Kinda kidding but it's all about short bursts and TONS of water! Thank you so much for saying that, this is one of my favorite pieces I've done. 🥰
It seriously pained me to watch that footage. Counting was never my strong suit. Likely why I went into art and not finance lol. Thank you so much LaVonne! ❣️🥰
Jenn I love this little bench and how great it looks in your bedroom! I can’t wait to see it when you get the fabric for the cushion 😍 I’ll be keeping an eye out 👀 also, that faux walnut is the best!!
Thanks so much, Dyana! 🥰 I'll for sure share when I get that made. Just a couple finishing touches to go in there and the whole space is finished! Can't wait!
It turned out great. And I love it's new home. Sorry I didn't get watching until now. Really loving the challenge and so many took part this time. It's great.
I sooo wish the camera was still running but I'd just turned it off. I was about to take it down and flip it but had a few choice words instead 😆 Thanks so much, Tricia! 🥰
Watching this ugly duckling play list for the 1st time. I am enjoying it. I used this stuff before. Of course I had never done anything like this before. Me and a friend did my kitchen cabinets. We ended up that night in the ER with chemical burns on our hands. Young and dumb!! 😂 I believe everyone in the ER came in to see us. They really didn’t know what to do with us. They couldn’t believe we didn’t wear gloves. Well we didn’t. Just a listen learned. Let’s say it worked and my kitchen cabinets came out pretty. It came out really pretty.
What a lovely swan you created, love that walnut graining and the khaki color on the inside - perfect with the rest of the bedroom. Hope you'll show us the cushion when you get that done. Another great job!! xoxo
I'm sooo close now to finishing off our cave life dream bedroom! A bench was always the plan so when I found this shelf buried and a mess it was like a light bulb. I'll definitely share updates on the cushion when I get that done! Thanks so much for doing that mum! 🥰❣️🥰
I had the same issues with citristrip. I had the piece indoors, and it still dried out. Maybe we need to put it on in 1/2 inch thickness for it to work. One gal here on the challenge acquired a piece that the fella gave up and she got it for free with all the dried out citristrip on it! Your piece is perfect! Such a functional idea with that type of furniture. Beautiful fauxing as usual.
You might be right about the thickness level. It was so weird how it dried out. That has never happened with KleenStrip before. Oh yeah, that was Kara (Lemons to Lemonade) sooo gross 😝 Thanks so much, Dar! 🥰
It's funny you say that about the pad, Lydia. I STILL haven't made the cushion and considering I only sit on this to put on / take off shoes, it isn't uncomfortable. You're likely onto something there about forgetting the foam! Thanks 🥰
Ahhh My Friend I Soo love this end of Bed bench with Storage...and Really Makes the cave Bed Area Complete and beautiful.... love the faux Wood....I swear You are the Faux Master as IF I didn't See with my own eyes I Would Believe this Bench is Walnut ..Just gorgeous and OF course you Put legs on backwards ...Even I Know you Love doing things Twice in the Hot Arizona Heat silly 🤣🤣🤣🥰❣️👍👍
Girl you know I'm on the struggle bus most of the time 😆 After getting through the stripper I think I said out loud something like, should be smooth sailing now! Should always know better than to say it out loud lol. Thank you so much my friend, it means so much to hear you say that about my faux! ❣️🥰❣️
@@CopperCactusDIY you are Definitely the Master of Faux ..Ahhh THAT was what Happened YOU Said It Outloud Into the Universe....You Should Know NEVER EVER Claim It Into the Universe silly woman😂😂😂😂❣️
I love your faux graining, Jenn! And I love this piece as an end of the bed bench, too. It’s perfect for your Cave Life space. Every problem you had with stripping is because of the CitriStrip! You will never convince me otherwise.🌸
Lol I don't doubt it now, that's for sure! Still have half a container so I'll use it up eventually but yeah. Not my favorite. Thank you so much, Deborah! This was a fun piece to add to the cave! 🥰
Great video. Just found your channel and have subbed. I moved to Phoenix this year and it has been an adjustment. Thanks for the content and will catch up on prior posts. Keep up the great posts, it is appreciated.
Phoenix is definitely an adjustment! What time of year did you move out here? Were you coming from a cold place? If you went through this past summer, congrats. It was a doozy! Happy to connect. That's so kind of you to say, thanks so much, Chuck!
Thank you so much, Nina! 🥰 Yes you should definitely give it a try, it's so fun to create. Trust the process. Not yet but I'm looking this week and will share when I do!
Yeah, I usually don't use stripper either, it's been over a decade since the last time. Stupid Phoenix heat forced my hand! I'll use this up but won't buy it again. Thanks so much! 🥰
As I said in the video a few times, the entire finish was 20+ years old and failing. Prep is key to a successful final result. Painting over a failing finish won't save it, that will just create more issues.
I stripped a multi-layer white painted vintage buffet...what a mess, I was using any pointed object to get the gunk out of the decorative details...Never again!
heyyyyy Jenn!!!! Dang girl that is HOT!!! you are stripping too!!! i hear you, waiting is totally the hardest part lol... that is really a nice solid wood piece!!! Im sorry you had fustratings too with the stripper...what a nightmare right? Yes! please update us later on if the knots end up making their way through that primer!!! I am noticing how perfectly straight you are keeping your arm when doing your brush strokes.. that is sooo important!! i love that you turned it on its side for its new life! the legs are a perfect fit for this! Im soooooo in love with how it turned out Jenn!!! great job!
Yeah I'll definitely keep an eye on how long the blocking primer works. It's a great formula so guessing it'll hold up. Yeah paint stripper is now my nemesis lol. I'll use this up but that might be it for me. We'll see. Faux woodgrain is one of my all time favorite finishes, especially walnut (one of my favorite woods.) You rock for saying that, Krystal, thank you so much! 🥰
@@CopperCactusDIY it really turned out fabulous and hopefully when you get the cushion made you will show it off!!! I must also add that i love your bloopers and you always give me a big belly laugh watching them, the side of youtubing most people dont see, and I love it!
The silly voice? You mean, my actual voice? Wow. People amaze me at the things they'll say then say sorry as if it absolves them of being rude. So much easier to just click away. As they say, it's not an airport, no need to announce your departure. 👋

another great transformation!
I greatly admire your attention to detail an of course your bloopers 😆
Thank you so much, Melanie! 🥰 Sometimes I think I pay attention to things to a flaw lol.
I so much think the legs just gave the piece so much character. Great job
Finding those was such a happy accident. Thanks so much!

Citristrip is hit and miss for me too. I love the faux effect. Great job as always Jenn
Yeah I'm going to test again when it's cooler out. But this might be the last container I use lol. Thanks so much, Eliana! 🥰
I really like your faux finishing techniques.

Citristrip can be a challenge at times at least in my experience. Love the way it turned out beautifully. You're a pro at the faux finishes. Tfs
That's for sure! It was such a strange product. I'll test again when it's cooler outside, maybe that will help 🤷♀️ Thank you sooo much, Georgie! 🥰
That faux finish... amazing... got to try that...
That means so much to hear, thank you Glenda! Tag me if you try it, I'd love to see what you create! 🥰
Gorgeous faux finish!!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
"It's hot... is it really that hot?" It's always "that hot" in Arizona. Ha, ha! Another beautiful piece! Great work!
Sooo true, other than those 2 weeks in February (when I'll do all work that requires a heat gun lol.) Thank you so much! 🥰
Absolutely love this technique!!!
Thanks so much, Gail! 🥰
Great idea for using an all wood shelf unit!!! Hope we get to see the fabric you selected for the cushion!!
I'm hopefully going to find something when I go thrifting next week. 🤞 I'll definitely share as soon as I get just the right fabric! Thanks so much! 🥰
This transformation is beautiful! Love the faux wood technique.
Thank you so much, Walessa! 🥰
I would not have thought to use a shelving unit as a bench, it fits in so well in your bedroom 🙂
I've had this bench idea on the brain for so long! Originally I wanted to use a coffee table but like this better because, cubbies. Thanks so much! 🥰
I would have never thought of that. Loved the legs!
Thank you so much!

Haha I was wondering about those legs when you were putting them on 😂

Aw thank you so much for saying that! This was such a fun project! 🥰
Yeah baby!!!
Can't wait!
good idea!
Thank you!
I’ve had the same problem with Citristrip drying out, and then just creating a stick, goopy mess. Probably won’t use it again.
Yeah this might be my last bottle. At least, as long as I live somewhere this dry. It was a definite struggle!
That faux grain looks a million bucks! wouldn't know it wasn't real
That's the best thing I've heard all day! Thanks so much, Twitch! 🥰
Amazing walnut graining! 😍 Need to try it out myself soon 😉 Have you found the fabric already?
Thank you so much, Nina! 🥰 Yes you should definitely give it a try, it's so fun to create. Trust the process. Not yet but I'm looking this week and will share when I do!
citrus strip needs to be THICK! works great.
I'd be curious to try it somewhere much more humid. But I'm too cheap to use paint stripper if it takes a whole bottle on a small cabinet like this.
Citristrip changed their formula. I do not use it anymore. I actually haven’t used any stripper for years. This turned out great.
Yeah, I usually don't use stripper either, it's been over a decade since the last time. Stupid Phoenix heat forced my hand! I'll use this up but won't buy it again. Thanks so much! 🥰
Vekiki like👍👍👍👍❤️🙋♂️
Thank you so much! 🥰❣️

Thank you! 🥰
that doesnt look ugly, in my opinion.
Okay
Why did you bother to strip old finish if you were painting the piece?
As I said in the video a few times, the entire finish was 20+ years old and failing. Prep is key to a successful final result. Painting over a failing finish won't save it, that will just create more issues.
I stripped a multi-layer white painted vintage buffet...what a mess, I was using any pointed object to get the gunk out of the decorative details...Never again!

Citrus strip is the least effective of all the chemical strippers it’s a waste of time
I mean, too be fair, it did work fantastic on the parts that didn't dry out. Otherwise yeah, it was a mess.
I'm not a big fan of Citrus Strip 👎
It eventually did okay, and I'll use up the rest but I'm not looking forward to it!
cant handle the silly voice and had to skip your video, sorry
