- Welcome to Morgan Learns Detailing, where you'll get to learn alongside Morgan as she progresses from a home hobbyist to a full-blown professional detailer!
In this episode of MLD, Anthony teaches Morgan how to use detailing clay to remove a lot of the decontamination that Levi helped identify previously. This helps make the paint a smoother, cleaner surface, which sets the stage for Morgan learning to machine polish!

Great video guys!! Super stoked for the next one. Morgan and Anthony make a great team. I get down on the humor. Thanks!!
Finally, I can give Anthony a tip. Soak the clay bar in warm water for several minutes to make it more pliable.
David Olson I’m sad because I said that in the video before we trimmed it down. There was about 40 minutes worth of footage here haha
11:05 Anthony did say you could warm it up in water. :-)
@@allan5721 I knew I said it somewhere!
He did say it at 11:05 I missed it. Good catch.
“Do you like the way it smells?” I’m guessing Mr. AllDay uses that one a lot!
That was awesome. She's a good listener with good questions, and @5:43 was hilarious! Well done, Morgan!
Good information and the great editing made this fun to watch. Nice job, guys!
Guys this was genuinely funny and of course informative. Keep up the fantastic work!
Awesome work guys !
Great job editing Dane! Can't wait to see the next video!
Luke Bergey I made the first half and then I got bogged down in some other projects so I turned it over to Tim and he did a great job!
@@Gr8DaneFilms how didn't i know i know you had a channel?!
Luke Bergey haha because I barely ever post to it (too busy editing videos for work) and I don’t really advertise it at all 😅
@@Gr8DaneFilms well i subscribed
Anthony you get a point for telling about break-in on the clay towel product. Morgan you did good and nice jab at Anthony. Leave the emblem to show the issues with how you do it on a real car
16:35, Anthony's subliminal response back to Morgan's "What the heck is wrong with you?"
😂
I thought this was a really good educational video, please keep it up, I’ve never done wet sanding looking forward to the series, I have one car which I do enter into concours events so looking for that ultimate shine.
In the last scene of the intro when Morgan is the car talking about stealing jobs I expect to see the car drop down. Maybe an idea for the last episode in the series?
Also I love the way this series is progressing showing and describing the different ways to tackle each step.
Nevermind. I seriously asked that question seconds before Morgan did. Lol!
Well done, another very detailed informative video. Multiple camera angles and great editing, Great stuff Dane !! I presume Levi is off again as its his Birthday?
Yes do a debadging video!
I'm a simple man. I see Morgan i click on the video.
Yes, debadge!!
I like when morgan says Yeah 😆
I don’t own a polisher and I’d love to clay my car to get rid of the contaminants... which clay bar/towel/mitt should I use? Or which hand polish should I use? Thank you!
Where is the next video!!?? this was super helpful!
Will you need to polish paint after using a clay towel. Does this put scratches on paint ?
Nice job guys. I love my clay towel since it is so much faster than using a clay bar. Debadge it..
Does using ONR for clay lube leave polymers on the surface of the paint that should be cleaned off, with say an IPA wipe, before polishing? Another great video guys! Thanks!
I wad always told ONR does have polymers in which is why I generally use car soap. However, towards the end of the video, Anthony says he prefers to use ONR over detail spray because it leaves nothing behind. So I guess I was misinformed? I thought I even saw on Optimums website that ONR uses Polymers. Guess we will have to wait for a reply.
@@bluegrasskid4835ONR is definitely made with polymers. I heard him say that as well, but on the other hand Jason Kilmer (the sandman) said in an Obsessed Garage video told Matt not to use ONR for clay lube because it would leave polymers behind. So these opposing statements spawned my question. Can't wait to hear back.
Good one Morgan.
Is it really?
No.
Got ya. Hahaha.
Great graphics too.
How effective is claying against hard water spots?
How do you break in the clay towel on glass?
How do you know when the clay towel is saturated with contaminants? When saturated what should be done with the clay towel? How many uses is a clay towel good for?
Yes debadge, and rebadged when the detail is complete.
just rinse out the towel with ONR
Random question: can you use that drying towel as wash media combined with onr for rinseless wash?
I don't want to speak for these two but I would not recommend doing that. The clay towel can mar clean/washed paint. A clay towel as wash media on dirty paint would most likely mar the snot out of the paint. I guess if you are dealing with paint that is already heavily marred and cannot get any worse, I guess you could use it as wash media but I still don't think I would.
Sorry about that. I guess you could use the drying towel as wash media but it does a better job of absorbing liquids than washing. What I do is instead of using the 2 bucket method, I will take a few Eagle Edgeless towels the Rag Co. sells and fold the twice and put the in the wash bucket to absorb the wash water whether it be rinsless was or traditional, your choice. I will use the folded towels one at a time as the wash media unfolding the towel to a new clean side as I go along. Once I have used all the clean sides, toss that towel in an empty bucket and grab a new one out of the wash bucket. When I am done, I will wash all the dirty towels I tossed in the bucket.
I like the two bucket method, I just like this multi towel method better because it is impossible to introduce dirt into your wash bucket doing so. I hope this makes sense.
What is the average service life of clay towels/mits?
"So as my mom and dad would say, right before they tucked us in at night: Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan & Morgan. It's a family tradition."
If you like using ONR as lube, you will love using ONR with Wax. The clay will glide even better and it seems to mar even less. Just keep in mind, you will have wax left behind. Some people want nothing but bare paint when going to polishing so they will want to IPA wipe the paint or spray all purpose cleaner on the paint and do a quick car wash to remove the wax.
I've noticed you have been using the Pearl shampoo more and more, please tell us about it. What do you like about it? How does it compare to Optimum Shampoo, and Adam's that Matt Moremann is so found of?
Thank you, lubricity is at the top of the list for me, foam not so much, European soaps tend not to foam much, and a lot of them are excellant, so I don't believe foam is an indicator of cleaning power. I did find a video of Renny Doyle using it as as a rinseless wash (hint an opportunity for Morgan to teach us), my curiosity is peaked. Additionally TRC had it priced nicely, I'll be putting it in my next order.
If you are doing a decon with iron remover either spread with a damp towel or spray to cover, the product can’t do it’s job unless it’s on the area.
If you clay a waxed car, will it remove the wax?
Is there any performance difference between clay towel vs clay bar?
@@theragcompany ok. Thanks for your reply. Learn a lot from your tutorial.
Debadging vid would be cool😎
I use the clay towel when I shower. It exfoliates and pulls all the contaminants off me
I remember the time you guys worked on her car.
Wow, 18:15...that gender bias reaction from Morgan...priceless!!
Debadge!
Needs more Christmas tree.....
She just got the rag company a million subscribers jk. She is gorgeous though!

Where's the 'Sanding" video? I'd like to know and learn what exactly is sanding. Thanks.
Teach like it’s a junk yard hood or a million dollar exotic? Hmmmm...🤔
You can smell the hormones in the air
Debadge that hood
yes get rid of it!
God she looks so clumsy
why so corny tho???
