Rodney Mullen & Daewon Song are the greatest street skateboarders of all time.
Mullens not even a real streetskater bro. He's a freestyle skateboarder that migrated his style to the streets. And only because he had to, since freestyle died. Still though, you won't see him jump big sets or grind down handrails. He loves the flatground and basically does a modern version of freestyle. He for sure is one of the greatest skateboarders though
I love Mullen, but Daewon took him when he started killing mini ramps. I'll never be as good as either, just sayin
attk177 what you’re saying about Mullen right now is a half truth. There is lots of footage of him jumping big sets and grinding down handrails. Yes he came from freestyle, because freestyle comps died.
This gave him the best base to come in and just change street and make it his own. Street tapes from back in the day were commonly just kick push sidewalk footage with the odd flatgrind on a flowerbox or ollie/kickflip over an obstacle.
When Rodney came he started throwing tricks in the push, in his entry/exit a lot of the time even a transfer. Respect your OGs know the truth stop the ignorance. Rodney IS street.

That's what I love about skateboarding. Skateboarders will adapt to any terrains that is put in front. The beauty and the love is making skateboarding possible and smiling all the way.

What makes Song's skating even more incredible is when you take a minute and think about how crazy it is that he has been skating on an extremely messed up ankle for a good part of his career. I can't remember all of the details..but I believe he suffered a bad break and just ignored it..letting it heal in the wrong position. It must be painful and not fully operational. Making this even more incredible is that he still skates both ways...so it isn't like he just stopped using his bad foot as his front foot. Most guys would just skate exclusively in one stance after enduring an injury like this.

FLASHBACKS lol. What an AMAZING feeling, knowing that DAEWON is still at it! I remember when he was new to the fame game, I was just starting my journey at middle school flipping through CCS CATALOGS.
Daewon has come a long way and shows true Passion in the skateboarding profession. He deserves recognition for the dedication and perseverance(just a couple, of many words that come to mind) that he shows through his talent and time spent perfecting the craft. I can bet that young skaters these days who truly love skateboarding, will be inspired even more by witnessing DAEWON'S journey and style. Imagine the struggles he has faced in his career since the 90's.

Daewon has always been my top three skaters since I first saw him shred in the 90's, he's prob my all time favorite but at least top 3. He's so smooth I came believe he's still destroying everything just as hard, if not harder
