This is perfect. This Unplugged Version is better than the Studio version. MUCH better.
One of my very favorite songs
The live version mirrors the recorded version. The last portion of the song was arranged for Mary to do exactly what she did. Sting has mentioned in numerous interviews that Mary is a powerhouse vocalist and that the song was intended to highlight that fact. I loved the performance especially Mary's intensity.

Yes. This collaboration is overkill for me. Sting has a vibe about his music. She is just a conflicting style. He's sung with so many different people & it usually works. But this is just a bit too much because she's basically possessing the song & he's more like a backing vocalist.

Mary overdoes it a little towards the end, drawing more attention to herself than is warranted in the song. The song is about balance and control. She lost it towards the end, but she was fine up to that point. It reminds me of a duet between Phoebe Snow and Michael McDonald called 'Knock on Wood' where she loses it at the end, overdoes it. That's just my opinion. Overall, super great collaborations in both cases.
