When my mom found out, she called an old contact of hers (I think his name was Joshua Tomar) and he came over snd destroyed my copy of Gwimbly 2: Cream Corn Crusaders.

You know what was really unappreciated about Gwimbly 1, the fact that it was able to implement 2D platforming in a 3D space that NO other game made when they jumped the dimension gap. Mario 64 was great, but it's really apparent how little thought they put into the world designs when you look at Gwimbly. Plus the multi-player mode was super addicting. And when the Gwimbly games got hand-held ports, rather than trying to squeeze a 3D game down, they actually perfected the art of translating the mechanics everyone loved in the 3D games into a downscaled version.
Wish they would stop teasing us with references and DLC skins and release a new game.

Gwimbly adventure It marked my childhood, it was one of the characters that I loved so much, its charisma, its ironic and funny phrases, its playability, or men, those were games made with love. How is it possible that there are people who love nuggets, who despise a great character and throw him in the trash? It's a stab in the forehead to know that Gwimbly is like this right now.

I remember playing Gwimbly on the my late model ps1, I'd always ask my mom if we could rent it from block buster. I remember hearing playground legends about the canceled Dreamcast version code-named Gwimbly: Re-Canned. It was supposed to be a version of Gwimbly 1 but with extra content that was originally going to be included in the PS1 version but was cut due to budget and time constraints. There was a commercial video and magazine pages showing off all the extra power ups and levels, plus there was now an extra secret ending if you collected all cans of cream corn and 100% the extra levels too. I didn't know much about the Dreamcast but I remember how letdown everyone was when when word spread that it was canceled when Sega discontinued the DC.
Since then a mostly-finished prototype GD-ROM of it was spotted at a flee market and some guy bought it for $5 and posted a few short videos of it on youtube in the late 2000's, that channel has since closed down and sadly the only archived gameplay footage is from a poor quality re-upload. It was then spotted again on ebay in 2017 for $10,000 and a hastily organized community fundraiser went underway to buy it and dump it for preservation. Unfortunately someone bought it just before the fundraiser goal was reached and according to rumor it went to some private collector, the trail ends there and it hasn't been seen since. Gwimbly Re-Canned is now considered to be the holy grail of video game prototypes, it even rivals Dinosaur Planet which was thankfully dumped and preserved. Many are now starting to write it off as a historic loss for gaming history since it is only a matter of time before the CD based medium will eventually degrade and the data on it becomes corrupted.

I feel like this was the IP's way to transition itself into a more corporate form than what gwimbly (the actor) had anticipated.
I also recall the time when I was in magfest, gwimbly released a press call at the convention near the booth I was in and cleared out the speculations. In interview he was asked as to why he was 'fired' from IGBG, Gwimbly said; "My company never fired me, I was let go because we had creative differences." then proceeded to bust his iconic gwimbly dance for everyone.

To be fair, Trogalor isn’t doing much better these days; since 2018 he’s been slowly phased out to focus on games as a service and DEI, his Smash appearance being a sort of final farewell. The last time he’s been in his own series as anything other than a cameo was years ago, and his series last had an entry in 2022, which flopped even on mobile and he didn’t show up at all. (Shame, it was pretty good for the standards of 2 decades ago but it was clearly too late). Leaks indicate a new game for 2027, but it apparently won’t have Trogalor in any significant role.
But will he be missed like Gwimbly?

The Gwimbly games have aged extremely well. There was a certain subtle genius to it's level design which naturally lead players to learning and overcoming the mechanics introduced in each stage without the need for tutorials or long-winded explanations. That kind of gameplay-lead teaching is a lost art these days. A new Gwimbly game, if done well, could be extremely refreshing to the industry, but I fear it would fall flat unless the original creators were brought on board.

I think the real problem with the way Gwimbly fell off is despite the decent fanfare for Gwimbly 3 marking it as the end of the trilogy, people had yet to realize all the plot holes in the script for the dialogue of the game. Count Groxia was supposed to be made out as a compelling character as he revealed to Gwimbly why he got the creamed corn, which was because he was in love with Queen Quenloo and her favorite food was creamed corn, but they rushed the story by only fitting it in near the end. Meanwhile at the beginning of Gwimbly 3, Count Groxia was as vindictive as ever, forcing Gwimbly to repair his broken Gwimbly Gun in the Forsaken Lab in order to escape while he got to open the Gwimbly Safe and rob him of his creamed corn, stomping on Mr. Millipede's son Milly Jr. on the way out.
I believe the reviewer Chris Oney said it best when he was doing a let's play of the game years later "How the f*ck are we supposed to sympathize with this guy, he f*cking killed Milly Jr. Literally can't think of a worse thing to do to Mr. Millipede to make him team up with Gwimbly."

In fact, many video game companies now want to bring back Gwimbly to the gaming industry, heck, even the developers of the Skullgirls series want to add Gwimbly as a guest star to their roster. However, one of the voice actors, Joshua Tomar, is heavily against Gwimbly being a guest star, even went as far to say anyone that buys the Gwimbly DLC of Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be chewed by Tomar's terrible teeth.
