I find it funny that, despite being the boss, he still feels the need to answer the phone personally. It also shows that he’s actually involved in the job, unlike some irl higher-ups.
A lot of bosses answer the phone just so that they sound busy and look involved. And they don’t take down the right details but still shout when an order’s messed up. It’s been a long week.

I like how Mr. Boss's voice actor literally just does whatever the hell he feels like in the moment. Sometimes he sounds a bit high pitched but mostly normal, and then with no explanation will drop to a deep southern drawl. The next scene he's speaking in an over embellished childlike tone, and in the Brazil episode on the phone he just sounds like a totally normal dude fumbling with his words.

I think they actually did a pretty good job with the boss. Seeing him take this business seriously and cutting the oddball act makes him seem much more competent and believable as a character- therefor making all the weird shit he does more interesting/funny

The little details that are in this show just really give it a whole flavor of its own, like when Mr. Boss shouts "WAIT!" at Pim about the firewood, Pim is sorta taking deeper breaths with how caught off guard he is about it.

I just noticed this, but one of the new season two characters is here. There was a about 2 minutes long animatic shown for smiling friends at a comic convention and it had a fat guy exactly like the orange blonde fat character near the top right.

What amkes the show so good, is the uncomfortable atmosphere at all times, but the realistic conversations, like stuttering or someone accidentally confusing a response with a question
I'm just now realizing that the whole movement at 4:58 -- where he pushes his way through the door and then limps forward with the rifle -- is a direct homage to Die Hard. Making it yet another Oneyplays / Sleepycabin reference.
Also, this is yet another reason why I fucking love this show. So many in-jokes that would otherwise make no real sense to people who aren't familiar with the lore.
I think Mr. Boss is gunna give us some subtle Charlie Brown references as the series continues, since not only did he dress up like him on Halloween, he also did his dance on the Frowning Friends' balcony

What a weird character: - gives off adult and deranged charlie brown vibes - is a very good boss that seems to enjoy simple things in life - despite that, he wishes that he thought of frowning friends before making smiling friends - hes not greedy, but its like "making money" is what gives him his sense of worth Its like he never connected his job to his passions and that made him completely bonkers since hes quite innocent at heart. Stressing out about the price of stocks of his smiling company, not realizing how close it is to his real passion of smiling
I love how the first noise he ever makes is Zach’s iconic, audible breathe in. It makes us all assume Mr. Boss would be one of Zach’s unsettling and creepy characters especially considering his office but it just flips with a totally normal “hey guys.”
I love how he’s meant to be given the initial aura of this asshole boss that only cares about money, but at the end of the day has actually just kind of an ok guy and rather than money he more cares about getting people to smile. He just happens to be a bit of a weirdo with how he expresses himself

I think they actually did a pretty good job with the boss. Seeing him take this business seriously and cutting the oddball act makes him seem much more competent and believable as a character- therefor making all the weird shit he does more interesting/funny

Its like he never connected his job to his passions and that made him completely bonkers since hes quite innocent at heart. Stressing out about the price of stocks of his smiling company, not realizing how close it is to his real passion of smiling
