Ultimately Mark Martin won the race though due to MTV Networks decided not to show the finish after the rain delay. Though to be fair they wasn't going to be back after 2000 anyway, so I guess that was MTV's way of saying they no longer care about the race coverage. Though the remaining races that both CBS and TNN aired had no further issues far as missed endings.
When drivers didn't just come out of the blue; those rookies (Jason Leffler, Jay Sauter, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, P.J. Jones) were no strangers to racing.
Here in Ft. Worth, a nightmare here with storms ravaging and tornadoes crashing through... today we got good temperatures but the possibility of rain is right over my shoulder.
The plan was for TNN to finish airing the race but for whatever the reasons that never happened. I suspect that as I said that MTV Networks which was the sibling with CBS at the time since Viacom owned both said no TNN couldn't air the race and it also included CBS for this race.
TNN never aired the rest of the race. After a long rain delay the race did got restarted but it was never aired on TV. It's the last NASCAR race of any of the three racing series that the finish of the race was not aired on TV
They were in a lame duck year since this was the last year CBS would broadcast NASCAR races. CBS and MTV Networks had the same parent company Viacom. Today after they merged again it's known as Paramount Global.
@@stephenholloway6893 Come on just admit that TNN would rather show a repeat movie or show for the 100th time. BTW that would not happen today. They would just move the race to another FOX or NBC channel.
@@MYBODYISTICKLISHALLOVER365 Tell that to ABC they didn't air the opening laps of the 2013 fall Charlotte race. Nor did any of the ESPN channels. Unlikely this would happen again especially with NBC and Peacock, but you never know. As for TNN at the time, they probably wouldn't air the race unless it originated on their channel since they were starting to get away from it's country roots at this point.
30:16 to 33:31 best part of the video. RIP Adam, its a shame you didn't get to live out your Winston Cup career. Only 19 too.
God Speed Adam
The CBS team packed up the cameras assuming it wouldn't go back green. There is only scattered video footage that exists of the race itself.
Do you happen to know where I can find that footage?
Man what a great video. I had no idea that Adam built a house. Must have just moved in when he got killed.
And as a consequence of his death, the deed was signed over to his father Kyle.
Hmm Jimmie Johnson, what would ever become of him?
Great Cup Series career but terrible Xfinity Series career.

Poor Adam. :(
Damn, its a shame what happened to Adam. Would of loved to see what he could of done...
Dear sound, where the hell are you?
Great video
Coming at you live from FT worth Texas 300 miles of NASCAR grand natinaol racing 500 Miles tomorrow. And he whether is the concern.

SO.... where is the rest of the race?
It never aired.
@de31168 strange NASCAR would allow that. You'd think they'd at least air it tape delayed.

Why didn't TNN actually air this race? Mike tells viewers that they could watch the race on TNN, but TNN didn't want to air it for some reason.
