This Seiko checks a lot of boxes. I think this was a very smart move by Seiko as it covers a diver, gmt, all lumed indices are visible, ceramic bezel, sunburst dial, and quality metal bracelet. I’m excited about this piece!
If they improved the bracelet I would be interested

I love green dials on watches. The Hulk is one of my favourite pieces, but this one is also extremely beautiful masterpiece. I feel Seiko is making it self a big name. Design wise it is getting better and better.

I’ve had the same watch for about 6 months, and it’s been one of my favorites. They did a great job on this one, and the case finishing is the most impressive thing. I dare to say the case finishing is just about as good as my BB58! The bracelet is pretty good, but my only gripe is that I don’t love the clasp
Definitely on par with Tudor as far as case finishing goes!

I have this exact model bought it in August and it’s become one of my favorite watches ever not just Seiko , I also have the Red Mm300 and while I love it the GMT just wears far better on the daily , it’s hard to explain but it simultaneously wears like a 40mm and a 43mm at the same time , Sturdy solid but not overbearing and so far running +6 a day. Solid choice and great video!
I just bought my exact the same watch but I have a very close look and I can’t not see anywhere to say made in Japan,and I did asked the other gentleman who was showing the same watch and he told me to look on 33 or 34 I had to look again with magnifying glass and it is nothing there,I’m very suspicious it maybe a fake?
Seems like the ideal watch to me. A 22mm bracelet might have been better, but for the money, it seems like a relative bargain of a 'built for lifetime' watch....I'd definitely have the black one and put it on a high quality rubber strap. Lovely smooth review.

Nice review… I have a different Seiko (the new Alpinist) which has a sunburst green dial as well… I changed out the leather strap to a two-tone after market bracelet and absolutely love it…

I have the black version. It had a bad movement and was sent back to Seiko. The replacement watch had a rate of +1 seconds per day, an amplitude of 246, and a beat error of 0.0 in the dial up position. I’m fortunate that I had a timegrapher to spot a defective movement.

I’ve been looking for an affordable seiko diver with a large band. I’ve got a 9” wrist.
You might want to fit a marinemaster clasp to extend the bracelet if need be.

Great review! The SPB381 feels amazing in the hand and on the wrist. You pointed out its only flaw - too hard to read the chapter ring. But that's a nitpick.

The clasps and bracelets are the weak link in higher end seikos. The cases are amazing tho.

Also appreciate your audio mix, with even levels of background music and voice. Question: in your description of the bracelet, you made a keen observation about the top of the middle link being polished (looks great!). Curious if the bracelet links uses screws or a pin and collar system? Thank you.
Thanks for your kind words! This bracelet uses pin and collar system, but the collar gets put inside the middle link so it will stay in place as you tap the pin. Not bad at all.
@@BrokeWatchFanatic Ahhh...good to know; I didn't realize. I love the dimensions and looks of the watch; although I wish Seiko (Grand Seiko, too) would step up their bracelet game. Everyone says it, so it's shocking to me that a company that prides itself on exquisite craftsmanship, e.g. Zaratsu polishing, etc., doesn't do a major overhaul on their bracelets. Screws would be great, particularly for their "upmarket" watches, i.e., Prospex and Grand Seiko, tapered bracelets, and clasps are the biggie. I friggin LOVE some of the GS divers but refuse to buy until the brand gets with the times on their bracelets. But your watch, and the Oris Aquis green dial, are my favorite greens on the market now. Thanks again.

I own the spb 385 limited edition one. It gives an icy look with an ice cold dial and a greyish blue bezel in daylight. At low or warm lighting it shows a silver or white birch texture with a black bezel. No less than a gem on the wrist. Thinking of getting the green variant.
