    Man I’ve bought gigabyte asus lg monitors running 1440p and 165-180hz and man this monitor I got by mistake and it actually shits on the others for like half the price $400 when I got it.
    The colors, smoothness, and user options are pretty good out of the box. The local dimming is also pretty decent compared to others. I have no back light bleed at all.
    I recommend you guys giving this monitor a chance before spending a lot more on others , oh and it has hdr600 and only $400-440

      How’s it still holding up for you? I was about to jump on the 27” inch version of this monitor until I realized it didnt support display port 1.4 the I saw this 32” model does. I’m running an amd 6800xt and it’s my first pc so I’m trying to find a good affordable monitor. I’m used to playing games on a 65” tv so I tried a 27” and it just felt way small for me lol.

    hello
    which monitor is better
    MSI MPG321QRF-QD or gigabyte m32q

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  2 года назад +3

      The MSI QD for sure... Of course you never said the use case. For the KVM switch use Gigabyte, for image quality MSI. For contrast it would be a draw, for colors popping MSI for the win, for speed the MSI. MSI released that new firmware which i believe is a KVM switch update but pulled the update after a pile of people killed their monitors with it.
      The MSI can do 4K console mode, again the firmware update was to improve the 4k gaming console mode experience. The only real Gigabyte M32Q advantage is the KVM switch and if you specially are into sitting watching the UFO blurbusters test cause no game has ever given image retention issues which can be fixed via "firmware update". MSI has 3 USB A ports plus a USB C power delivery port, a mouse bungee. The MSI is a newer improved panel over that Gigabyte panel that is 3 years old verses the MSI which was released less than a year ago. Showed my gamer friend 2 days ago, he thought my screen was OLED due to the colors popping verses a regular IPS.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  2 года назад

      If you were asking the LG 27GL850 or GP850 which the GP is faster the M32Q still has better contrast which makes it look better image quality wise. Or the MSI MAG321CQR the Gigabyte would be a bit of a toss up with that one but I'd trust the Gigabyte to have better screen uniformity. I have a second MSI MPG321QRF-QD after a failed firmware update with no dead / stuck pixels and even better panel uniformity than the first. Was replaced on warranty. Going to review my LG 32" 175Hz VA panel right away. I've owned it for a month but it is nowhere near the MPG QD monitor but the LG is cheap.

If gaming clearity the 32GP850, if deeper blacks and whiter whites the M32Q but at slightly slower performance. the M32Q is good for the price, the M27Q is actually faster and slightly better.

    Happy new year to you! Do you by chance know how many dimming zones this display has? The image comparison to the LG looks pretty dramatic. The MSI is way ahead in terms of colour vibrance whereas the LG image seems all muddy. I wonder if that's just due to different calibration?

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  3 года назад +1

      This MSI has one clear advantage it can display much better white levels. Look at the window frame in the side by side. LG is greyish the MSI is clearly white. This feels almost like a VA panel in how the contrast looks, my last panel was the MSI MAG322CQR. I think the lack of sharpness on the LG had to do with pixel arrangement, there is a sharper setting which caused halo texts in windows because the sharpness is cranked up but it'd be dumb to use that.
      Contrast within tones helps a lot, a lot of people found the cheaper LG 83A had sharper looking images and a bit better contrast than the wider color spectrum nano but I have only personal experience with the GL850 so can't verify.
      I tried a smallish white square on a black screen and I can not notice any dimming zones even though it was rumored to have 12 or 16. Kind of good actually cause in partly lit movie scenes and games it could cause annoying halos. full screen or go all the way to 1000+ zone mini LED ... but for right now such a solution is overly expensive... just look at the Asus PG32UQX that is Quantum dot 1500 zoned miniLED compared to the MSI MPG321UR-QD both 4K 144Hz and the MSI is faster to boot. The difference is miniLED but the contrast gain of the Asus and experience because of that is huge.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  3 года назад +2

      Also if the display had local dimming at all the black screen would have been far darker. ran the HDR local dimming test and there are no zones showing.

      Was going to go through everything good and bad about this monitor in a detailed review after having used this for 2 months. I don't have that $3200 worth of testing software and equipment like the big channels and the expensive equipment tests tell you zero about how things look in real life. I had a tester a Spider 5 but the software crashed and would not give me the results. I returned it.
      All the strobe modes, 100% of them have cross talk and there are zero modes that have a sharp image. I used only still images (except for the sort slow motion strobe at the start) because high speed had way too much flicker on camera. The monitor has a typical brightness of 400nits and drops to about half being about 200nits to 250nits depending on refresh rate. The big channels also get monitors for free, I get nothing for free and many buy than return (I never do that)... I bought 2 of almost every monitor I have ever reviewed. Made zero income all of 2021 (the big channels some of them get patreon money that pays of all their stuff) so all this cost is out of pocket and I have more than 1 channel that I spend money on $40,000 out of pocket since july 2019. Nobody does real world tests because running a piece of software that throws out charts out and is faster and easier to do. If you use an Nvidia GPU in the control panel set the gamma to about 1.12 and your dark tones won't be so dark while still maintaining good contrast. I think I suggested a higher option but higher than 1.12 your contrast ratio starts to go down.

      Most certainly good enough, most people complain it is too bright especially for dark or dim rooms. You are very very unlikely to even want 100% brightness even without HDR. Higher than 600 nits is normally an HDR thing. If you are all about HDR get an OLED that can actually display a proper HDR experience because IPS, TN and even VA panels just don't cut it.
